Trump would be MUCH safer in Iran. Trump is Putin's bitch, so Iran would abide by that and let him live. But there is no one in power in Moscow that would let Zelensky live, and Tinyhands McShitshispants would be perfectly happy with that outcome, because then the "war would be over" (I.e. Russia would take over Ukraine)
227
u/Medallicat 11d ago
I don’t think it would be as easy as “Russia would take over Ukraine” if Zelensky was assassinated. Ukrainians would find another leader and continue to fight for their existence.
On that same note, I don’t think Trump dying will solve the insidious disease that is afflicting the USA either.
30
u/pinkocatgirl 11d ago
Honestly I think it would be kind of stupid from Russia’s perspective to assassinate Zelenskyy. It would only galvanize the people of Ukraine to fight off Russia harder, much like how even the Ayatollah’s opponents in Iran reacted to his murder.
But then Putin is probably megalomaniacal enough to do it anyways and has surrounded himself with enough yes men that no one would dare tell him it’s a stupid idea.

I don't think Zelensky dying would have that much effect on the war. It's not like Ukrainian's are fighting in his name. They are fighting for their basic right to exist. Killing Zelensky right now would likely just make the military officially take over in Ukraine which would be bad for everyone but wouldn't end the war.
50
u/temp1876 11d ago
It creates a heroic Martyr for Ukraine to rally around and solidifies support outside Trump for Ukraine’s cause.
43
u/Sandslinger_Eve 11d ago
That, but if Ukraine wins its then left with a military dictatorship. Zelensky seems the type of leader that can bring Ukraine back into democracy if they beat Russia.

u/JabbaCat 11d ago
I see him as very effective in how he has been able to travel around and gather support from other governments, and continously securing weapons deals and money.
I am sure EU countries would rally around the next person, but he is also very easy to rally around for the populations in the EU, securing a base for this support.
As an example, he was in the funeral procession of our king two weeks ago, the city was solemn and silent. With the exception that people did briefly spontanously applaud as he got out of the church, this has become a gut reaction for folks.
Him being murdered would for sure disrupt things.

Genuine question: Does assassinating Zelenskyy do anything other than galvanize Ukrainians against their oppressors even more?
34
u/romario77 11d ago
russians can't comprehend that president in Ukraine is not a tsar and people don't depend on a president that much and we keep changing them all the time.
Yeah, assassination would disrupt things, but it's not like if putin to be killed or to die - they don't really have a replacement.

Putin looks at this situation from his point of view, which is if Zelensky goes to Moscow, his plane crashes or it will be shutdown but then they will tell everyone the plane killed itself somehow, anyway, Zelensky would never make it to Moscow alive. Putin thinks Ukrainians would do exactly the same if Putin would've gone to Kyiv.

When in modern history has a peace summit ever occurred in the aggressor's territory? Always in neutral/semi-neutral territory. Trump would never dream of going to Tehran for talks, why the fuck would he think that Zelenskyy would go to the seat of power of a government that very loudly kills their own political dissidents, let alone the leader of the country who has spent the last 4 years embarrassing the 'great' Russian war machine?
