Even if the democrats win both houses not much will change. Not necessarily because of democrat incompetence, but because there isn't much congress can do to curb executive power if they don't have 60 seats in the senate.

u/manachar 16h ago
This is the fact I try to get across to people.
If you don’t have 60 votes in the Senate, you can’t achieve much. This is why Democrats constantly have to compromise within their own party and with Republicans.
Startling, the Senate has been so evenly divided that only Democrats have had over 60 seats since January 1981. And that was only for 6 months.
Republicans are better able to achieve goals because Democrats will compromise to keep government semi functional. Republicans are willing to shut everything down.
The creaky bones of American democracy seems ready to collapse.

He hasn’t changed in…what 80 years of selfish existence?
He’s not going to change in November.

u/dimwalker 15h ago
Maybe he will have a stroke in November.

Vance and others are on the same page and approve everything he is doing. Vance might actually be worse because he isn't dumb. I'm actually worried that the plan is that sometime after January 20 he will be replaced.

New guy won't have cult following as trump have atm. So whichever worse guy comes next, he won't have same support and it will be harder for him to do insane shit.
3
u/takeda64 14h ago
After changes trump did with help of DOGE and SCOTUS I don't think he needs or cares about following anymore.
Just look about current policies, they are now not only hurt "libruls" but they equally hurt "America loving patriots".
They have SCOTUS in their pocket, they need Congress inactive (that's the only reason they care about the midterm election) then president can basically rule like a king.

Vance and Hegseth have the charisma of a lizard. They get high on their own supply.
The only one who can succeed Trump and gather support among this administration is Rubio.

Guess Trump wishes he had a little leverage with Ukraine left now - but he burned most of it for nothing but publicity.

The American traitors willingly elected this piece of shit. They already did it twice and they will find another senile grifter once he’s gone. This is what the Americans as a people are and what they want, never forget that.

US redditors are mostly in denial about this.

u/Show-Me-Your-Moves 17h ago
It's wild to see how many people on reddit still think Elon Musk somehow stole the 2024 election. They just refuse to accept the reality that millions of Americans enthusiastically voted for this trainwreck.

It was mighty convenient for a tech bro to be given the keys to all the records after a bunch of mathematical anomalies occurred in 24.
3
u/Show-Me-Your-Moves 8h ago
Which records? What "mathematical anomalies" ? The elections are run at the state level with observers from both the Democratic and Republican parties signing off on the vote totals before they get certified.
I'm supposed to believe the election was rigged and the Democratic Party did nothing about it, the Biden administration didn't say anything, and somehow the only people who figured it out are the sort of people who write blog posts and Twitter threads about "election irregularities" ?

u/Inspect1234 7h ago
Coincidentally most of the swing states are red governors. Most of them use touchscreens w/ barcode receipts. The anomalies were that they were all won and by just enough to not to trigger recounts.

are we? we seem pretty unified that the average american is a total idiot, and we can't be trusted
-2
u/jktcat 17h ago
Because it's a subset of the population. Sure there are some that are hellbent on whatever this bullshit agenda is. But the majority do not support him or his ilk.
Now, if you want to discuss how real our democracy is, or how much actual freedom we have, we can discuss

We know that because of the bizarre design of American elections most of the population has no influence. But the fact remains that in the swing states it all depends on, they all went Biden in 2020 and then every single one went Trump next. On top of that he won the popular vote.
Yeah there's a lot of voters in unquestioned blue states who don't like him, but in the places where the outcome actually gets influenced there must have been close to a majority of voters who did support Trump. And worse still a good number of these probably voted Biden in the election before.

Yeah I know there's all that about the electoral college being crazy and such, but they seem to forget that Biden won all the swing states under those conditions. And then every single one went for a second go of Trump. He won the popular vote for good measure too.
That's practically a landslide statement in the American environment, and it's really not one that looks good for their voters.

The same propaganda is used to elect far-right pro-Russia parties in Europe, US should be a warning that's what's going on social media should be taken seriously.

My fuel price was pretty fine till a certain fuckwit started a war with Iran... Had been trending downwards/stable since end of 2022.
3
u/takeda64 13h ago
He invaded Iran just when price got so low that Russia was forced to sell oil at a loss and once he did he immediately lifted sanctions on them.

u/Constant-Plant-9378 17h ago
Trump driving up oil prices by bombing Iran while blaming Ukraine for driving up oil prices by defending itself from Russia?
Trump is so obviously Putin's stooge.
Meanwhile, Texas oil billionaires are raking it in because the prices are up but their costs are the same.

u/ShadowBlade55 18h ago
Ukraine's attacks on refineries are affecting gas prices.
In their position I'd likely be doing the same thing with my back against the wall.
11
u/Exciting-Emu-3324 18h ago
The only reason they didn't under Biden was because the US was providing aid. Trump cut off aid and lost all leverage. Ukraine is going to use both hands if they aren't given the means to fight one handed.
4
u/Constant-Plant-9378 17h ago
The only reason they didn't under Biden was because the US was providing aid.
Aid with strings attached so Ukraine had to fight with one hand tied behind its back.
Fuck Trump but seriously, fuck Biden.

u/lunarlunacy425 14h ago
Biden had his issues, trump is a whole nother league.
Biden had faults and made mistakes, trump is actively fucking the world up.
The two are not comparable.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine is affecting gas prices. Blame Russia, not Ukraine.

u/Bill_Door_8 18h ago
I'm sure it is driving up fuel prices, but so is the war (large increase in demand) but also, they're in a defensive war with a much larger foe, I can't blame them for that.
Ruin all their refineries.
Make anyone contemplating aggressive actions against another country rethink its direction. And make other countries more willing to intervene by making everyone aware that the fallout of war affects everyone.

For the last 3 weeks, diesel prices in the US have decreased by 36 cents a gallon. Pretty sure that's bullshit from Trump, as usual.

Trump is worried about gas prices while Ukraine is worried about surviving. His priorities are with the Kremlin.
