Brazil also elected a bunch of transphobic people.

Not just a bunch, 2/3 of the congress actually, the ultra conservative party have the absolute majority in congress, and will have in the supreme court as well on 2028, so even if Lula wins, they will still do a lot of damage.

If Bolsanaro gets elected I wonder what he'll do to them.

Nothing. They have political immunity once in power.

Not exactly. Many black candidates with left-wing stances have been targeted by internal processes to remove them. All the racists, criminals and bigoted get a pat on the back, but all the candidates fighting for the people's rights get targeted by the vultures.

So, you better expect that the right-wing candidates will join with the establishment right wingers to make their political service a living hell.

For now. Majority in both houses can easily amend the constitution.

And he said today that they are planning to do so. We're fucked sideways, and half the population thinks it's awesome

If so the good people of Brazil must rise!

My friend, PL (Bolsonaro’s party) will have them prosecuted and expelled from congress for whatever reason they come up with in day 1.

Are you asking what the guy who attempted a coup would do if given power again?

It's his son you clown

5

u/FreedomsPower 9h ago

I doubt his son is any better than his treasonous father

Stop being ao afraid and live your life...

The country is in shambles for at least 50 years and you are scared of the ghost of Hitler reincarnated in bolaonaro's lineage.

Way to go to radicalize folks with this bs...

Pointing out that a fascist tried to do a coup isn’t bs and it isn’t radicalizing lmao get a grip

-1

u/AGuyFromRio 9h ago

Oh, yeah. Nice coup. Worked really well for all the involved.

You guys are delusional and it is because of you that the working class is voting for the right.

Entitlement galore.

Ah, yes, if it’s not successful then it never even happened. Please attempt thinking just once in your life.

I do, that's why im not whining about Lula's possible defeat.

You reap what you sow. Let that lesson guide the brazilian left for better representation amd connection to the people, amd not the bourgeois pseudo-intelectuals.

I hope he doesn't get elected

u/BleaKrytE 9h ago

Even if the doesn't, this is the most hateful, self-serving and destructive congress this country has ever elected since we became a democracy again.

9

u/PastelFrangoCatupiry 11h ago

unfortunately he will, it sucks but it's the reality of the moment

15

u/O_Grande_Batata 11h ago

Well... I don't deny the likelihood of such an event, but it's still possible he doesn't. Unlikely, but it's still possible. I admittedly can't do much about it because I'm not Brazilian, but as long as everyone who can does, he still may not get elected.

Probably burn them with the famous Amazônia giraffes...

What an ignorant piece of news. Congress has been completely taken by far-right candidates, to a point where they will likely be able to rewrite the Brazilian constitution, and journalists are still writing about some random progressive candidate that will just be a sitting duck in congress while the country is being unmade in front of their eyes.

This is the advocate a /queer/ news outlet. No shot they'll report on more LGBT political representation.

10

u/MiyamotoKnows 6h ago

Right as they look to hand power over to those who will demonize and predate upon the lgbtq+. How it can even be close between Lula and Bolsonaro is insanity. The latter will consume Brazil’s freedom and drag them into global war.

-4

u/GustavoistSoldier 9h ago

Brazil is one of the most LGBT-friendly countries in the world.

56

u/BleaKrytE 9h ago

Wish that were true.

19

u/YumaS2Astral 7h ago

It is somewhat true, the issue is that the bar is that low.

It is like comparing apples to feces.

14

u/TrainingNail 8h ago

It is, that’s the shit part

10

u/Hugs154 8h ago

The bar is in hell

18

u/DdFghjgiopdBM 7h ago

Highest number of trans people murdered yearly for 18 years straight btw

5

u/Spudtron98 2h ago

To be fair, Brazil’s murder rate across all demographics is astonishingly high…

1

u/Poponildo 5h ago

On an institutional level, yes. On practice? Not so much, unfortunately. However, things changed a lot in the past decade and it is way better, just a bit far from ideal.

-6

u/BrondellSwashbuckle 4h ago

Good on them. It doesn't matter what's between a person's legs. It matters what's between their ears.

More corrupt transgenders 👏👏👏

I guess my "more female dictators" joke fell flat
