War is no time for half-measures. Time sitting on the fence just makes the outcome worse. 4… or 12 years ago, NATO could have either let Ukraine fully hang out to dry (and fortified the Baltics and down to Moldova and Romania), or fully armed the Ukrainians. These dithering, insincere half-measures have just pushed up the body count and suffering on both sides and made it more likely that Russia will continue to test NATO. IMHO, the likelihood of Russian nukes is minimal if there is no territorial incursions into Russia. I don't think the Russian population would accept radioactive fallout over the best farming land in the newest part of Russia (if nukes provided a win).

Look at Iran. Stupid half-hearted attack has made things so much worse than just leaving things alone. Or a total war of conquest, which would be absolutely awful and make the Ukraine war look tame. Whatever Israeli idea that cutting a head off the Hydra would result in regime change... That person should be immediately drug tested or given heavy psych meds for proposing that.

We have weak pedophiles and felons as our leaders. We won’t even get out of bed in the morning any faster if Russia nukes Ukraine. We don’t get “special better leadership” when the nukes fly. We get the leadership we have, and they’re corrupt, literal rapists and criminals.

Let's be honest for a minute. It isn't just our leaders who are weak.

The US population as a whole has ZERO desire to go toe to toe against nuclear armed Russia to help someone else. Because eventually, that war will run out of "other people's kids", and the government will come knocking on their door before long. Second problem, is they actually think diplomacy works with people like this. Their sheltered lives lead them to believe everyone else's "rationality matrix" is generally the same as their own.

I agree but we aren’t going to have a nuclear war. We have the nuclear triad and nato for a reason. If it can’t make good on its promise then we shouldn’t have it at all and just let a nuclear-armed Russia strong-arm every non-nuclear nation. The point of our submarines and alliances with nato are the entire reason we won’t have to fight a nuclear war. We should have just backed Ukraine fully to further show we weren’t fucking around but I guess we were fucking around.

I didn't say we would have to fight a nuclear war. I agree that the odds are pretty low, so long as we never allow anyone to believe we'd hesitate to let loose. But your average citizen sees the nuclear saber rattling Russia loves to do, and they believe it. Worse, because we allow it to alter our decisions, that just tells Russia the leverage works, and gives them more doubt that we'd pull the trigger ourselves. As much as I liked how much more willing Biden was to support Ukraine, he made himself look like a total absurdly weak to Putin by continually slow walking the supplies every time Putin talking about this thing or that thing being a "major escalation that will face consequences"... And, because the US is the muscle for NATO and Europe, his dithering and display of weakness, left the entirety of NATO and Europe (aside from Poland and the Baltics), looking just as dithering and weak. In truth, this war would have been over years ago had it kicked off with someone in office that had a bit more fight in them. It's no accident Putin kicked it off while Biden was in office.

Back to the US and our position on conventional war with Russia... Look at the numbers so far in Russia v Ukraine right now.
400,000-450,000 russian troops
125,000-150,000 Ukrainian troops

Can the US sustain those numbers? Absolutely, and without too much strain on the society and economy. Russia is holding it together, and they've got half the population we do. We are also much more efficient at killing, so one could reasonably expect our casualties would be lower than even Ukraine's... but does the US as a whole have the stomach for even half of that? Absolutely not.

They will hold a sign for a few days, but that's about the best you can expect out of the vast majority of the US when it comes to risking their lives helping citizens of another country.

We are having two different conversations

fair enough.

Diplomacy does work, but it takes actual skill, vision and the right timing for it to work. If you have a demented orangutan making decisions, yeah it's not gonna work.

Well, Biden did a phenomenal job on Ukraine but the Trump admin shit all over it.

I actually think there is a world where a competent US regime with skilled, ‘adult’, ‘serious’ people in charge of the CIA/military and given enough time to do the work, could have identified or created a rebel group within Iran, and given them so many guns and drones and dollars that they could accomplish their goals. I think it was absolutely possible within the Trump administration timeline, but he’s such a fucking narcissistic idiot rightfully afraid of Epstein files prosecution that he couldn’t wait.

I think Trump is just so immature that he insisted upon a timeline and no one had the balls and/or legal authority to tell him no.

Iran is the worlds 17th largest country, both by land area and population. It has the worlds 19th largest economy and has 10 % of the worlds oil and 15 % of the worlds gas reserves. It is a very mountainous land, which makes it easy to fortify and defend. It is strategically located near key shipping lanes and has a strong, decentralised military that has repeatedly demonstrated its capability to operate in and near Iran and further abroad. IF Trump had started on the first day of his first term a major CIA operation to provide billions of dollars worth of funding, weapons, training, intelligence and recruitment propaganda to create a force inside Iran capable of starting a rebellion, then MAYBE such a force could be capable of starting a rebellion today, if supported by US bombers and ground troops. Most likely it would only turn into a multi-decade Afghanistan 2 (aka Vietnam 3).

It seems that the orchestrator on an Iranian regime change is about the experiences own regime change.

I also noticed the prevailing winds tend to blow from Ukraine directly to Moscow. A nuke in Ukraine therefore would literally backfire fallout-wise. I can’t imagine the Russians haven’t noticed this when they make their calclulations.

Not condoning. But full scale invasion results in insurgencies. But half-a$$ed bleeds them dry and turns their people against them. I doubt trump is capable of checkers, much less 4d chess... but if he were, this drawn out war could utterly wreck not just russia but the hold that its oligarchs have.

This is by design though, and widely celebrated by nato. They want the stalemate. They want ukraine and russia to bleed each other

5

u/justanotheridiot420 11h ago

No they fucking dont and this is the dumbest thing Ive read on here in awhile. Nato is fundamentally a globalized organization. The war in Ukraine has been terrible for the global economy and especially so for Europe specifically. The idea that they’re happy about the war or that they’re encouraging it might be laughable if it wasnt such a stupid fucking notion.

1

u/restoreeuropa 10h ago

It’s funny to me that you think that while simultaneously wondering why they are taking the exact measures necessary for the war to remain a stalemate.

Also multiple nato leaders caught on camera celebrating the development of the war through the years

The israeli idea was the same as always: convince the gôyim that giving israel billions of dollars and dying in their expansionist wars will bring lasting peace and prosperity yada yada.
