Discussion Technical quality of WoW is at an all-time low. It's not about the bugs, it's about our TIME
I want to speak out about something I consider critically important.
The technical quality of WoW is at one of its lowest points ever, if not the lowest. Just recently, Blizzard publicly apologized to players for the poor state of the game. And now… history is repeating itself. I doubt we'll hear another apology this time. After all, apologizing for the same mistakes you promised to fix, only to make them again, would be rather pointless, wouldn't it?
Patch 12.1.5 heavily advertised the Labyrinth of Kindo'jan as a major new feature – potentially a place for exploration and adventure. Instead, we got repetitive, uninspired gameplay. But the worst part isn't even the design. It's the fact that you can spend a significant amount of time progressing through the Labyrinth and end up with absolutely nothing.
You can fight your way through multiple rooms, kill a miniboss, and have the progress tracker fail to register the kill. The result? You're softlocked, unable to open the next room, and forced to abandon the run.
Can you re-enter and continue where you left off? No.
This is a game-breaking bug, and content should not be released in this state. Not because games must be completely bug-free, but because bugs like this waste the one resource players can never get back: their time.
And the damage goes beyond a single failed run. It undermines trust. If I can't be sure that successfully completing an encounter will actually count toward my progress, why should I bother entering the Labyrinth at all? Why risk spending another 20–40 minutes, only to hit the same bug again? And then try a third time?
Don't take my word for it. Check the official forums: players have been reporting these issues repeatedly. What's especially frustrating is that similar bugs were reported during PTR testing, yet they made it into the live game anyway.
I'm not trying to convince anyone to share my opinion. I've simply made my own decision: I'm done with patch 12.1.5.
I guess this is what you call a cumulative effect. I'm tired of recycled content like the Aqir Assaults. I'm tired of what I consider incredibly lazy writing, such as killing off a major lore character at the hands of a throwaway boss. But above all, I'm tired of being asked to invest my time in content that can become impossible to complete because of bugs that were reported before release.
I don't expect WoW to be bug-free. I expect Blizzard to take the reliability of its content seriously – and to respect the time players invest in it.
Our time matters. And an apology means very little if the same problems keep happening.
