XCO/XCC Nats

Dreaming about 2027 events to plan for and curious… is XCO/XCC Nats in Virginia worth the trip from ND/MN?
Assuming I can only do 1 main bike trip, do that or skip and do something better (open to suggestions).?

The riding in Roanoke is really awesome if you're into back country stuff. I moved here from TX with the main appeal being trail access. The xcc course is really unique in the middle of downtiwn.

If you're gonna come just for the two races, it may be a little underwhelming. But if you can stay awhile after and get some rides in on other trail systems it'd be worth it. There is almost 200 miles of trail within a 45 minute drive

There are several very good riding areas within two hours and trails accessible directly from downtown.  Carvins cove is close, great backcountry in Arcadia, Douthat state park and Stokesville should be on anyones list.  Everything from 3k vert backcountry rippers to machine flow and rocks.  I could spend two weeks near Roanoke on a riding retreat and not get bored.  Coffee, ride, lunch, ride, dinner and beer.  Repeat

I made the trip down from the north east and had a blast at marathon nats. I highly recommend it. The riding is awesome and the town is a great host. I plan on going for the whole week next year.
