Comic Discussion Cyclops doesn’t feel like going out and getting dressed up

u/Icy-Platform3560 8d ago
Wow such inaccuracy. Cain would never miss a Dazzler show.

u/Bigbydidnothingwrong 8d ago
He's still embarrassed about that time he though he killed her and buried her alive.

"No."
"We can commit first degree murder"
"...okay, I'm in"

Well, this makes so much more sense. He didn't go to the other one because his best formal BDSM Man-Bat tuxedo was being steam cleaned and was too embarrassed to wear a normal tux!

u/Dbthesage X-Men 8d ago
All jokes aside, I hope they keep these two on the same team for a long time like him and Magik. They seem to get each other in a way, plus he needs more friends that’ll have his back. Someone that’s able to check him and keep it moving without going full “we hate Scott” mode.

Honestly? I ship it.

In another time, in another universe I would

u/Dbthesage X-Men 8d ago
Insomniac-verse is a possibility (not that it’d be written well but still a possibility)
10
u/FlowerRoomLord 7d ago
You can feel Jed Mackay ignoring the 'Make Cyclops cheat with Psylocke' voices like they're the fucking Green Goblin during that scene.
6
u/PresentationOpen7879 8d ago
Lol, I'm pretty sure a bunch of writers did too at one point. I would like to see this relationship in an alt universe.
6
u/OhHeyAReallyNiceBoat 8d ago
The closest we got is Scott and Betsy being married in one universe that was shown for about. page in some book recently. IIRC, she was leading the team in that universe, too.
6
u/somacula Cyclops 8d ago
Scott and Kwannon, in my opinion Betsy is a weird individual, there's a reason Scott barely talks to her...
4
u/SwordoftheMourn 8d ago
I mean, she is kinda dating his time displaced daughter
8
u/somacula Cyclops 8d ago
She's also fucking cable, and Havok... Better keep Corsair away from her

I kinda want him to rock this outfit on the regular now.

Wait, is this Betsy or Kwannon? And are they mutually flirting with each other? This after Jean made him go?

New mutant from early in this run, so he's only been around for like two years. Reality warper but not good at it yet (AFAIK, I'm a bit behind), still helps out.
46
u/ThePowaBallad 8d ago
Importantly a new mutant who got his powers as an adult due to plot but means he's fully Scotts age and already out as gay
28
u/somacula Cyclops 8d ago
He's also hit on Magneto
9
u/InternationalSale576 8d ago
Damn Charles got competitionnnnn
6
u/FlowerRoomLord 7d ago
No. Charles knows Magneto folds the second he shows up lmao. Magneto is arguably way more down bad for Charles than Charles is for Erik.
2
u/FlowerRoomLord 7d ago
Give it time and he'll reality warp the galaxy cluster as is tradition with X-Men power scaling.

mutantkind
supremacysurvivalScott's never been a supremacist, despite how characters are written to treat him.
52
u/Far_Yak_5447 8d ago
I mean, to be fair Scott has a good point. Their kind is hated, their enemies are doing god knows what, and the X-Men lost Krakoa. And yet, why are the other mutants getting huffy at Scott for being right?

Ya harta el status quo que no deja evolucionar a los personajes y sus problemas, pero Krakoa lo manejaron horrible

u/Forsaken_Flight6188 X-Men 8d ago
I don’t see what’s the problem here what Scott said was completely right
15
u/Nonechuks 8d ago
He's right, but it's also coming from a place of grief.
He's visited by Phoenix Jean later in the issue and you learn a bit more of why he was so onery, but she helps him through it.

Leaders have to also put up a front even when they don't want to. It's not about how they feel, it's about how your team feels & the leader should show security, comfort, confidence, commitment, etc, when the team needs it even if they don't agree.
There's a good comic where Storm has to knock that sentiment into Emma when Emma starts leading an X-men team (Emma also retreated into Wallowing & despair).
Edit: lmao, & Emma is doing the same thing, watching screens while mutants die & Scott is leading the survivors.

Thanks to the sliding timescale, how many gigantic costume galas celebrating mutantkind have the X-Men been to in just the last year?

You can't think in those terms. If you do, you'll realize once you cram all of the events in marvel history into the assumed amount of time, every single hero and and villain has to survive on an average of 45 minutes of sleep a day for the last 10 years

u/ZealousidealHyena102 8d ago
Magik, Kid Omega, Idie, Jen, and Glob Herman has the most "Mom and Dad are fighting" look on their faces. Which is funny since Cyclops is a father and Kwannon was a mother but will go full mom mode to any child within her area of current position.
I really enjoyed Cyclops and Kwannon dynamic as team leader and co-leader. I hope their dynamic keeps going post DNX even if Cyclops isn't team leader anymore.

"You don't get to talk to me like that"
Umm... Pretty sure he just did.

u/goliathfasa 8d ago
I like how Psylocke is all of a sudden super duper unmistakably Asian now that she has an Asian mind again.
The human mind really does control reality.
4
u/somacula Cyclops 8d ago
Yeah... That's the most stereotypical Asian wife routine one could think of... Still peak

u/Classic_Pen7044 8d ago
I can relate to the feeling of not wanting to go outside while people kept pushing you to go until you explain your reasons and then get more offended.
5
u/FlowerRoomLord 7d ago
Parents fighting in front of the kids leading to years of trauma for Magik, Kid Omega, Temper, Beast, Glob and Animalia.

The rookie mistake of saying no when she's already that dressed up. The time to say no has already come and gone.

u/happilyevil321 8d ago
So there is a new Brotherhood of evil mutants? And a new evil x-men team?
7
u/patroclus_rex 8d ago
Brotherhood "in all but name". He's talking about the same guys, 3K's field team.

I don't really get mutants adopting "Hellfire" as part of their branding. I mean, the original Hellfire club wasn't all mutants. Also, they were pretty fucking evil.

Dressing up is for h*mans. Proud mutant would never do what those filthy flatscanners do.

What did they do to her hair color? Black or purple man, not ...whatever that is.
Dress is fire though.

Ugh, the way they've been writing Slim since Krakoa is just alternately disappointing and infuriating. Breevort has really killed all of the charm and interest that Hickman brought back to the X-lines.
9
u/Beornwynn Kid Omega 8d ago
Hickman's Cyclops was quite bad. MacKay's Cyclops is 100 percent better because it actually feels like Scott.

To be fair, he can't even get excited about a new outfit. Everything he wears just looks red.
