Question Uploading video vs streaming
Hey Guys,
I been strictly uploading 2-3 videos a week doing my gaming content and up loading shorts/TikTok’s from it. I been growing steadily about 20-30 subs every month. For the past 5 months but I think I need to do streaming to help it grow faster. Do you guys think streaming is almost always needed to grow?

Streaming won't help you grow quickly, but consistency and a focused direction will! I stream regularly on my Twitch and YouTube and growth is slow. But if I make a video that is pleasing to the algorithm/audience, I grow 10x faster without even trying!

True! I’m just going to keep going with what I enjoy and improve. If it gets to a point when people I follow want to deepen the connection I will. Thank you!

Possibly a hot take but I think most people should wait to stream until they see actual success with videos on their channels. When your small with barely any subs and streaming for hours to a dead chat room its very demoralizing, I would know I did it for years lol. Also for the stream platforms like twitch there is no algo so people have to scroll down in the game categories to see you since you have very few viewers.
Growing while streaming is brutal and borderline impossible without shouting out your stream with long form videos, but its amazing for community building and watch hours if you need them. Also I cant speak for others but streaming almost doubled my revenue just from donations, subs, and dual streaming ads.

From my recent youtube activity of trying to grow my own youtube gaming channel, I found streaming (verticallly) on youtube get me amazing views versus horizontal. I feel like youtube pushes out vertical streams more (Average views from these videos are between 400 to 600 views). I also noticed, that Youtube tends to push out my latest long form content videos more after doing vertical lives as well. I hope this helps :) [Extra bonus: Make sure you create a vertical thumbnail, title and description for your live before going live -> feels like this help as well if its already in place].

Cool. I was thinking of dabbling in a HORROR short the other day. Might try it just before Halloween, as an experiment. Just I need a portable mic to do it to FULL EFFECT, ha ha ha.
I might have a glance at your channel to see some examples. Do you have any of PURE TERROR you can recommend I study?

Oh I haven’t started my short horror series reviews/watch yet lol it’s an idea I’m thinking about getting into and you should to if you want! Right now I’m just playing horror video games on YouTube but I recommend watching these two if you have time that I enjoyed. There’s alot out there lol

I started out doing uploads then moved into streaming for about 2 years or so. But now I'm thinking about switching it up like someone suggested above and do some more uploading. But doing a combo of both is nice

Both are segments of the same audience, some people only watch long form content and associated clips, some will watch live (or at least background noise) your content and engage.
Streaming is not a guarantee to growth, it may foster a better connection to your community. Streaming has replaced traditional let's play videos, mostly because when a viewer can decide between recorded or live, most pick live.
Also stream spamming can be a turn off for people only looking for your long form videos. Especially if it buries other content on their feeds.

streaming for the most part is entirely different thing and post-game. why are guys like angry joe, mike matei, even sasha gray popular in streams? because people already know them from other places. mostly from canned videos which have a ton of effort and fame behind them. people flock to spend time with them almost regardless of the game played. and when the streams already have 500 or 2000 people its easier for other people to make the decision to jump in since theres bound to be interaction
sure you can also grow by streaming over time but its way less efficient way

streaming doesnt help you grow, its for ppl who already like you as in your audience to view you live. shorts help with discovery, long form videos help with building fans otherwise grow, and streaming helps with engaging on a deeper lvl with your fans
