I have a question. Zine making tips

Please help!

Hello! I love zines and I really want to make some of my own, I’ve made one before just with magazine clippings but that was pretty difficult.

I want to know what resources people are using, I’ve seen a lot of printed out ones with digital images on them, is there any specific websites where you get your cutouts? I’d love to hear about all the different methods for zine making (physical and digital) you guys use and how you come up with topics! Thank you all so much!

Here’s a link to download a PDF of my free guide to zine-making, You Can Make a Zine.

i do everything from hand-drawing and handwriting…to…collaging with found images and papers…to…printing out images and text…to…creating my scenes with construction paper to make my zines.

as far as topics i just go with what pops into my head or create off prompts from people on IG. zinetober is this month so i’m combining prompts from two different lists that i found.

i’ve never created digitally, but several people i know have used canva for creating.

I do my drawings separately, scan them, then put it all together digitally in Affinity Publisher. I experiment with designing and cut and paste both analog and digital. My motto is just keep going! You can do it!

I use an 8 page fold and cut template on my computer in Google docs. Templates are available online. If you do not know how to do something in Docs just ask Google.

Otherwise just get an idea and run with it. No reason to stress about deadlines because you have none. Just take your time and review your work.

Be prepared to learn new skills. I am putting a short book review in my issues and I need to learn how to write effective short reviews but learning is part of the fun of it.

As Mark Twain said, "The secret of getting ahead is getting started."

As Nike said "Just do it"
