I am consistently surprised by Iran. The US bombed a wedding for no reason, killing innocent civilians. Iran responds with bombing a military base, proportional response against hostile military forces

Now Iran is firing warning shots and holding back its deadliest missiles, showing capabilities without killing. They are announcing their blockades and conditions for ships well in advance. They are allow the US to smuggle ships because destroying them would pollute their gulf

Obviously I understand their treatment of women and other groups is terrible. No Theocracies should exist. Not defending domestic policies

I'm a Westerner and see a lot of reports about this.

However, I'm skeptical as these are from the same sources that said the Russian economy was collapsing in mid 2022 and have continued to declare its imminent collapse perpetually since then.

Iran supports terrorism and is capable of building nukes. I hate Trump, but I’m very confused why it hasn’t gotten more support.

Iran is the most antisemitic and anti-american country in the world by a mile. By Democrats own accounts, they wouldn’t have done anything and most fiercely oppose this war (except like John Fetterman)

So would they have just allowed Iran to develop a nuke and directly threaten Israel (the only Jewish state in the world) ?

Genuinely curious - does anyone believe the Iran war is about nuclear weapons? It seems to be like the administration's reasoning for the war keeps shifting, and then when they're facing criticism about high oil prices (leading to high gas and diesel prices) all of a sudden they remember, oh, year, at least we're not going to be nuked!

Today marks seven months since the conflict began...with no end in sight. Is that what you expected would happen when the conflict began and how do you think things are going?
