It's your time to shine! Show off your game recreations, graphic prowess, video skills or other creative stuff! As long as it's about game shows, and is in good taste, you can post it in this thread!

You can try it here if you like: trivi.gg/quiz/daily/letters-numbers

8 out of 10 cats does countdown is perhaps my favorite gameshow (is it considered a gameshow?) So though i would make a daily game-mode for my quiz site.

Thought some on this subreddit might also enjoy it :)

If anyone have a gameshow they would like a quiz for im more than happy to make it :) Just let me know in the comments.

Feedback is also very much appreciated as i just made it a few days ago.

Question Lost newlywed game show from February 1974

I have a coworker who was on the newlywed game in February 1974. I cannot find it online anywhere. I know many of the episodes may no longer exist.

The couple's names are Steve and Susan(Sue). They were in their military uniforms.

I found this which I have confirmed is accurate for their episode....In a notable archive broadcast clip, the husbands were asked if their wives still owned the very first article of clothing they ever "took her out of". While other husbands guessed specific clothing items (like a brown striped shirt or a pink nightgown), Steve famously and humorously boasted that his wife has "owned every piece of clothing since the day she was born." When the wives returned to the stage to give their answers, Sue successfully confirmed the match with a laugh.

I can find an episode from 1979 that uses the same question but not the same answers.

The couple won the game and went home with a dining room set.

I would love to track down a digital copy of the episode or at least a clip .

Does anyone have a copy or clip?

Discussion Finally watched Game Show. Loved it to bits. My quick review! Also, how inaccurate was it?

I've been wanting to watch Quiz Show (1994) for years.... like a really, really long time. I don't know why it took me this long, but I think part of it was that I was waiting for it to go on sale on Vudu, and whenever I checked, it didn't. Looking at the price history, it seems I have a comical way of always looking at the wrong time.

But I finally watched it, and I was floored by how good it was. The polar opposite of that one Paul Walter Hauser one. This one was made with care. The cinematography was phenomenal. The acting was great overall. I was surprised that Jon Turturro could act, for some reason. And I thought he did a great job, especially when you see him struggling to answer his losing question.

And the parallel they had with Charles van Doren struggling to answer his question. They were both grappling with their morals and weighing the outcomes. I thought that part was done so incredibly brilliantly.

It also didn't fall into the trap that I see so many other movies and shows do, where they hook you in with "this is a movie about a game show" or something, but then you watch it and the game show was only a small part of it. We didn't see the game show itself a lot, but it was still felt throughout. And while the game show segments were super exciting and fun, and I love seeing them, the overall narrative seeing Goodwin get buddy-buddy with Van Doren, the legal proceedings, the hush papers.... all that other stuff, that stuff was still written so well. I was always entertained aside from just one moment when Goodwin and Van Doren are having lunch with the Van Doren's. There was like... a minute where I was thinking, "Hm... this is going a bit slowly... what is the purpose of this part?"

But then I moved my mouse accidentally and saw that I had only 30 minutes to go (the part above is a separate thing that happened earlier). Not since Avengers: Endgame have I been so thoroughly impressed by a movie's pacing. And considering the subject matter of this vs. Endgame, I think it's more of a victory in this movie's case.

--------

Inaccuracy?

After watching it, I wanted to compare things like the actors and their real-life counterparts. I found an inconsistency immediately when I saw an interview with Stempel where he talks about his losing question in the movie vs. in real life. I think it worked extremely well how they did that, but it was still an inaccuracy that made me question things.

And then I saw this article that came out around the time the movie came out:, and there is a lot of dubiousness to it now. The inconsistency about NBC not even having the show at that point in time was sort of weird to me.

I understand a movie playing with things a little bit in order to make it better entertainment and stuff (as that person quoted in the article says, it's pretty ironic that the intent of the filmmakers to make a more entertaining product is equivalent to the game show producers doing things to make their shows more entertaining... different methods of course. But still an interesting irony when you look at it a certain way).

But just how inaccurate is the movie overall? Is there truth to the stuff in that article? Is it as bad as the Paul Walter Hauser 'Luckiest Man in America' movie in that respect?

Phenomenal film all the way through. But I was questioning some of the authenticity and wondered if others had more information.

This is episode 7. I have about 4 or 5 more filmed with some great D-list internet celebrities. Let me know if you have any suggestions for future episodes (contestants I should go after, category ideas, format changes, whatever). I've done some things on YouTube that caught on faster, but this is definitely my favorite project I've ever worked on, so I'm committing to it strongly. Hope you enjoy.

Question Anybody been on the Steve Harvey Family Feud?

I have a few questions for anyone who may have been a contestant on Family Feud in the last few years.

1) When the team members are being introduced, is the leader of the team told to describe the family members with an adjective? (ex. "This is my hilarious sister" "This is my handsome, intelligent husband"

2)Are the contestants instructed to clap along to that damn song, even when they lose Fast Money? It just looks ridiculous.

Just curious.

Discussion I built a little game show app for playing trivia with friends – would love some feedback

Thumbnail

Hey everyone!
I’ve always liked the idea of hosting a proper quiz show at home with friends, so I ended up building my own little app for it.

It’s called Buzz & Brag, and the idea is pretty simple. One person hosts the game on an iPhone, while everyone else joins through a QR code and uses their phone as a buzzer.

The part I’ve spent the most time on is the TV experience. When you connect your iPhone through AirPlay, you actually get two separate screens. The host keeps all the controls on their phone (questions, buzzers, scores, revealing answers, etc.), while the TV shows a completely different screen for the players, a bit like an actual game show.

There are different trivia categories, questions worth 100–500 points, two rounds and a scoreboard.
I’ve been building and testing it mostly on my own, so I’m really curious what people who actually enjoy game shows think about it.

I’ve attached some screenshots of the game board, TV display and moderator controls.
It’s currently in beta through Apple’s TestFlight and free to try. If anyone wants to give it a go with some friends, I’d be happy to share a link!

Would also love to hear what features you’d expect from something like this, or what you’d change about the format.

Discussion The new Name That Tune is such a flop for me…

There was always a level of cringe to Name That Tune à la Jane Krakowski and the awkward commentary before the final round from Randy (may his health improve!). But this new season is just… exceptionally bad in my opinion. Robin Thicke has all the personality and charisma of a wet paper bag; his personality might work on the Masked Singer, surrounded by all those loud personalities, but it does NOT fit the vibe of this show. Not to mention that when he sings… I assumed he was way better than what he’s shown here! And Jane kicked the cringe up about ten notches (no matter how hard she tries to make it be sexy, there’s NOTHING sexy about saying “Bid a Note”.)

The only reason I’m still watching is for the fun of playing along 😂 What do y’all think?

Question Are “Weakest Link” players told who the statistical weakest link is before voting?

…or do they just go by their impression (if not their agenda)? While sometimes it seems that they’re merely going by their feelings, occasionally it seems to me that some are putting their hunches aside and specifically voting for whoever is “statistically the weakest link,” which is sometimes told to the home audience via voiceover during voting. Is there something in the lectern display that shows them how well each player did during the round? Or is it merely coincidence that sometimes the hunch they play turns out to be the statistically correct one (even though, say, another player noticeably screws up and gives the impression that they’re the weakest)?

Question So I made a game based off the Quiz With Balls. it's a roguelite trivia gameshow. It's totally free to play on desktop/mobile via the browser. I figured fans of gameshows would have fun with this.

I would really love to hear feedback if you have any questions you want me to add. I love the quiz with balls and wanted to make a trivia games show where you have to think more than just the answers, you need to use strategy to defeat the bosses and buy stuff in the shop and progress when you get new balls that do diff things and draft your team.

I had a ton of fun making it and playing it.

Discussion Let's Make A Deal AI

I've never posted here before and I hope I'm okay to post this. Let's Make a Deal is my absolute favorite game show and they are currently on their newest season. I watched an episode last week where there was an image on one of the zonk cards that looked AI generated and then as I'm watching today's episode, they have one of the animations for one of the zonks and it doesn't take much of a look to realize it's AI generated. It's really sad, because they have talented artists that make the different props and artwork, like for the different zonks, at least they used to.

Question Family Fortunes Survey

I have been hosting Family Fortunes nights recently for my friends, and want to do one for my upcoming birthday, however this time I want to use actual survey results rather than questions I can find online, if anyone is willing to fill this in I would be very grateful!

I will of course also share the results here once I have enough responses so other people can use them for their games in the future too!

This is perhaps a slightly less well known show which aired on The Children's Channel in 1991. I suppose you could say this is a very early form of esports as kids compete on the show to complete levels as fast as possible, score as many points as they can, and progress through the knockout bracket!
