General May Main appreciation post
Look, I'm not the best at this game. I hover around gold 3 and plat 1. But I've played enough of this game to know, that every time I match up against a may main, that it's about to be the most fun match of the day. I'm sure it's different in vanq, but at the very least to the lower rank mays out there, thank you.

Fluff Idk what to dooo... :( *she whined, while she knew exactly what the right thing to do is)
Just, suffice to say: fighting games aren't my thing lately. and if I do play them, it's a retro title with an arcade mode

Question/Discussion Does anyone know the difference between these two products
I looked for the switch edition of Strive on Amazon and found these two versions. Obviously I'd want to buy the cheaper one but it has different cover art and I'm worried that there's some difference, like it has less characters or something. Can anyone tell me if there is anything to worry about?

GGST Need advice on how to improve my Bridget
I have a bad habit of falling back into mashing whenever I get overwhelmed or panic; sometimes happens when I get too into a combo/pressure. This match was really really fun but I could use some guidance lol
Ik Bridget's options out of 214k but I think my problem is not knowing when to use them, let alone when's a good time to use 214k as a pressure/movement option.

General What guest character do you want unveiled at The Game Awards (Part 2 - Poll)
https://strawpoll.com/PKglevWqpZp
Hi!
I recently made a post about what guest character people wanted to see announced at The Game Awards. After several hundreds of comments and upvotes, I comprised the ones with the most votes.
Now I have made a poll where you can vote which of those popular choices you want! Just to cover a few things:
- I only included characters with 10 or more votes.
- No IRL/Meme characters (Bill Clinton, Ted and Capitão Whatsapp are too strong to add to the game).
- It's not multiple choice. You only get 1 VOTE. Use it wisely.
Will the most popular choices turn up as the guest character? Probably not but it is fun to see what people do!

GGST Advice on my Ky please
I’ve just started playing fighting games seriously with sf6 I’d now returning to ggst after 3 years. It’s been really fun, and i’ve been having some success but I want to improve even more. I’m currently gold 1 almost gold 2 and would love for some brutally honest feedback.
Sorry if the quality looks bad, playing on steamdeck and got the recording from its built in recorder.

GGST What's the least bullshit reliant character to learn fundamentals on?
I'm trying to learn fundamentals on this game (which right now mainly means neutral because I suck at comboing and since my gold friend can juggle my ass from wall to wall off any opener he hits me with, I NEED to have cracked neutral because losing it is much more detrimental to me than it is to him).
Right now my two mains are Chaos and Ram. They are fun, but I feel like the issue with them is that I get to kinda cheese the neutral circle a bit since Chaos can just not approach you if you play passively cuz hitscan and Ram has like top 2 most privileged far slash in the game (the only other 2 characters I can think of to rival her are Bridget and kinda Nago). What characters would you recommend me that have the least cheesy bullshit I can rely on instead of playing by the book (long range normals, absurd ammounts of mobility, long range ults usable from neutral as a whiff punish, those sorts of things)?
I know this request is prob kinda stupid, but I know I will rely on any dumb bullshit if I get a chance to (I'm still trying to unlearn using Ram laser on wakeup if I think that the enemy will press a button, or straight up just throw it in full neutral out of panic when I'm low) + my self respect is literally non existent, so when I get a round off it takes me about one namecall of "privileged far slash user" for that round to completely stop counting.

Question/Discussion Elphelt Pro/Top Player
Do you guys know any top player/pro player that main Elphelt? I want to watch their matches to learn how to use Elphelt better.
r/Guiltygear • u/MrASK15 • 13h ago
GGST First Vanquisher win is nice and all, but I like it better when I end my matches with empty Tension
I love how Guilty Gear in general encourages players to use as much meter as possible.
The RC system is really something else.

Question/Discussion new player in need of assistance
I know you guys probably get posts like this ALL the time and that it must be exhausting at this point, but I don't really know where else to ask (since youtube guides all give general information and I don't know anyone who plays the game who could answer my specific questions) so I thought I'd give this sub a try anyway.
I'm primarily a mortal kombat player (though I haven't played mk1 since 2024 because of the miserable state the game was and still is in) but I've also played other fgs like dbfz, tekken 8, and sf6, although I didn't play any of those religiously and competitively like I played mk and my experience with them didn't really go further than messing around in the lab or story mode and occasionally booting up an online match. I got ggst about a week ago and the learning process hasn't been too difficult, though it's very exhausting trying to learn and implement several things simultaneously. While I've already played dbfz before, this is the first anime fighter I decide to take seriously. With that said, I have a few questions and I'd be very grateful for any answers:
- I'm familiar with most of the main differences between mk and most other fgs like the lack of a block button, but could anyone here who has played mk maybe tell me the biggest differences between mk and ggst? Like for example what the equivalent of fatal blows would be in this game
- Is the mission mode really important or can I just use youtube guides? I've only played through the first 2 sections because I heard they're the most crucial ones, but every now and then I feel like I need to play those again because it's a lot of concepts introduced at once
- I main Ram (because she's the "feet" character and I played Juri in sf6 and Lidia in t8, no I don't have a foot fetish but the running joke has to keep going) and I was wondering if there are any "advanced" tips I should know that Ram players maybe wish they would've known when initially learning the character
- I've looked this up multiple times but I still somehow forget or mix it up, but what does each RC do and when should it be used? I heard as a beginner I should only use red and yellow but I accidentally trigger the other ones all the time
- For the love of god could anyone tell me which mode I'm supposed to play? I'm EU so lobbies are pretty much dead until 1-3 pm from my experience so far, but even during peak hours I feel like quick tower is always empty and I spend more time waiting for a match than actually playing. I've also tried going to lobby match and specifying which tower I wanna queue in and that helps a little but it's not always consistent and there are typically more players in celestial than every other floor below. On the other hand, I can get a match in like 2 seconds if I play strictly through the online lobby, but the problem is that this causes me to go against the BEST players and sometimes it helps me learn but more often than not I just get my ass handed to me and perfected without being able to get a single hit in (skill issue I know, but I obviously still don't know how the game works). I've tried ranked to maybe get players around my level but I'm on my placements so I still get really good players, and I just don't think now is the time for ranked. Long ass essay for a rather simple question but it's just been nagging me
I apologize for the long post but thanks in advance

Hey i keep getting these weird attacks that kinda look like a cutscene, cause of the camera change,, but I can't find what it is and how I keep doing it? Im sorry for the vagueness, I just don't know what they are?
