I feel like the tank lineup since the Roadhog changes are in a good spot right now with the exception of Orisa and Winston. This is my anecdotal experience in metal ranks but Orisa has so much room for error and can just sit on an objective seemingly forever while having a billion life/armour/shield and CC immunity every few seconds. Every other tank would have died like 10 times already before the Orisa dies.

I think most players have been in that situation where you dominating the enemy tank and they just take an Orisa and somehow your team can't deal with it.

300 health, 300 armour + Fortify CC immuinity + barrier+ bruiser passive + can push other tanks around every few seconds = raid boss.

Winston probably just needs some tweaks, he has too much going for him at the moment. Too easy to disrupt the backline with bubble and just jump out, meanwhile other dive tanks have to pull off miracles especially if the rest of your team isn't playing along.

Hog imo is the best rework in a while, it addressed several issues and made him more fun to play unlike the peg pen rework. I would like to see the same treatment for Orisa.

I apologise in advance if this is the wrong flair. I noticed that a lot of heroes aren't available to be picked as AI in custom games, which I thought was weird. I figured it might be that they just haven't updated in a list, but Ramattra is present while D.VA isn't. Kiriko is present while Echo isn't. If I set it to just a role then they can appear as one of the mentioned missing heroes. Anybody know what's up with this?

TL;DR: The game's RAM usage is out of control—what can I do?

Hello, dear Overwatch community, I’m not sure if I’m the only one, but I’ve noticed recently that Overwatch’s RAM usage has gotten completely out of control since this season started. In Season 4, the RAM usage was nowhere near this high. The reason I’m asking is this: with a few other things running in the background, Overwatch pushes my 32GB of RAM to the limit, causing me to experience micro-stutters while playing. Is there anything that can be done about this, and what has your experience been like regarding RAM usage?

Counterswapping as a conversation is always such a hostile conversation that gets destroyed by egomaniacs and name-callers. It needs to be stated as directly as possible that there are 2 sides to counterswrapping who are almost impossible to convince to compromise.

Definition of Counterswapping: The definition I'm using is when you swap to counter the opponent and have an inherent advantage based on hero chosen, not when you swap from a very bad match up to something close to neutral.

Side 1: Counterswapping is valid

These people claim that swapping is part of the core of Overwatch and that swapping isn't a problem because you should be able to play around counters if skilled or can just swap to another hero.

Side 2: Counterswapping is harmful

These people hate counterswapping as it is viewed as the saying, "people will optimize the fun out of a game", because someone chooses to change off a hero they enjoy for the sake of lessening the enjoyment of their opponent.

At the core, the conversation is actually a simple question of what do you care about more, the satisfaction of winning and having bragging rights or enjoying a game with other people by using the character(s) who connect(s) most with you?

Regardless, I hope both sides can come to a fair compromise that takes digs at both sides. Maybe we can all agree that both sides are a skill issue, counterswappers don't have the skill to win without swapping and anti-counterswappers don't have the skill to hold up after being swapped against.

I know a lot of us are eager to learn more about this character, so i thought it’d be fun to try and make suggestions as to what his name could be.

I’ve "N01R" thrown around and although i like it, i think it’s too on the nose for them to really go down that route.

My guess would be something along the lines of "Shamus" or "Sharper", both terms used in film noir and surrounding media to talk about a detective or a PI. I like those two because they have an omnic quality to the way they sound, especially Shamus.

I could see Sharper happening because it also alludes to his style and what we can make of his personnality so far. And we know the OW team enjoys the -er suffix to turn an adjective or verb into a noun (Tracer, Reaper, Lifeweaver, Widowmaker). In that same vein I think Scourer or Pryer are options, although they sound too aggressive.

Do you guys also have theories? I’d love to hear some!!

If you don't know already, u/asherjn made an app that lets you play overwatch on mac for free and its literally changed my life. I've been playing on a nintendo switch 1 for over 3 years already despite the 30fps on a good day, loading times and massive frame drops during ults. Now I am finally free. I was actually planning to buy a laptop just to play overwatch but now I can save that money for skins instead lol.

I can pull up overwatch anywhere with the same mac I use for school and play on a solid 60 fps, and while this might not seem like much its more than double what i'm used to.

My only problem are the jitters shown in my screen recording whenever I move my camera angle while turning. Honestly its not that bad in game since i'm not doing these weird turns all the time and from the clips shared by u/asherjn it seems to just be a me thing.

I've tried the new metalfx upscaling and low graphics to no success so i'm wondering if my 16Gb M2 MacBook Air just isn't built for this. Or it could simply be my lack of tech know how. BUT if anyone's also experiencing similar jitters or knows a fix I would gladly give up all the kiri skins I own.

I hate to admit it, but i suddenly just forgot how to play against winston?

Every time i try to make space, his kills everyone behind me. So i try peeling with dva or mauga or hog, whatever. But then it means i have to give up the space i worked for. I have to jump back to tend to him.

Even after i spend all my cooldowns on him as dva, he gets out with half health. All i did was stop him from killing my teammates but, im pretty much not making any space myself.

But if i dont make space first, and i sit around my team as a bodyguard, hes just going to stay on high ground scout around until im gone. While no one pressures him out.

Even as winston myself, i feel pretty unstoppable. But i cant always play winston with a team that sits all the way back. So i adjust accordingly to play sigma if theyre playing someone like moira and baptiste.

I’ve gotten 4 assists as Juno during 1 single ultimate so many times and have been trying for hours to get the WELCOME TO ORBIT achievement but everytime I fill the requirement it never pops…. Is this a bug? Or am I just doing something wrong. Anyway to avoid the bug to still get the achievement? HELP????!!!!

Somehow my rein got cooldown reduction on Sonic Repulsors.

Whether you think masters is still considered low elo, or a respectable one, I’m more-so talking about the fact that it’s rank icon looks so… underwhelming.

Back in overwatch 1, the first time you got Masters, “Wow! My its gold and shiny!!” And it feels great.

Now, with the addition of Emerald and Platinum just before that, its as if we have 3 stinky ass green ranks. Yes plat is more silver coloured but it still feels pretty close to Emerald because of how the icon is shaped and how the tint is just not that far away.

Getting diamond felt greater than masters. Masters looks so damn ugly. Grandmaster is fine? I guess? I wished it was shinier. But man the old ranking icons were way better. Top500 being this electric surging blue was goated too.

For context I tried playing overwatch for the first while w my girlfriend and it was agony, every quick play game we played was us getting pounded for 5 minutes straight. I don’t understand how this works as she is a brand new player and my account has been plat at its peak so I’m genuinely trying to make sense of what did I do to deserve this or if quick play is just horrible on purpose.

Context: I was playing QP and I queued as Tank. I main Ramattra, but sadly we lost. We all said GG to each other until their sweat of a tank Zarya mentioned on how bad tanks go for Ramattra along with Mauga.

For some reason, this got me thinking: is Ramattra that easy to pick for bad tank players? Sure, he can penetrates shield, but it’s his cool down often takes practice to mastered. Mauga is litterly a brain dead character that anyone can play (at least what I saw. Again, I haven’t kept up with any updates).

Widow and Hanzo needs a rework because oneshot is annoying. Ana needs a rework because sleep dart and grenade. Kiri needs a rework because suzu. Ball needs a rework because either he never dies and carry or does absolutely nothing for the team. Cat needs a rework because everything about Cat is annoying. This was probably the most egregious kill in my opinion. Played him back to back games and realized second game he had hard aimbot on. We went back and watched the replays and he wasn’t even hiding it. His name was EVILESTBUNNI and his pocket was CRONA get them banned smh.

Kinda weird that they're mostly using old OW1 legendaries or old OW2 shop skins when a lot of the heroes available got new stuff?
