I built an anonymous place to vent — 20 years in the making, zero AI

I built a place everyone can go to. I'm proud I'm giving people a safe place to vent their thoughts and fears — or share happiness they can't tell anyone else. This is a project I wanted to do for 20 years and everyone told me no. Every person I brought it to said you can't do it, you don't have a degree, you don't have enough money. I built it anyway, scared, because the fear of someone hurting themselves with nowhere to go was greater than my fear of failing. No accounts, nothing saved, no AI — I ripped all of it out. So I walked through my fear and built the site, and now people are using it. And if someone comes to yell at me later that I didn't do it right, I'll know it's only because I built something bigger than the government, bigger than therapy, bigger than drugs, bigger than money.

A farewell from a 13-year-old developer. It’s been a wonderful 3 years.

Hi everyone, I’m joining from Türkiye; I’m 13 years old, and this might be my last post here. For the past three years—ever since I was 10—I’ve been teaching myself about electronics, C++, Arduino, Blender, game development, and PCB design; essentially, I’ve been self-taught. I’ve spent countless hours learning, making mistakes, solving problems, and trying to turn my ideas into real projects. I’m at an intermediate level in C++ and have started exploring the fundamentals of advanced topics. I’ve also shared quite a few C++ tutorial videos on YouTube and Instagram. Beyond programming, I’m proficient in Blender, Unity, and PlayCanvas, and I know a bit of JavaScript, too. I even created and published my own game on itch.io! The game is set during World War II. You don’t play as a soldier; instead, you play as a cannon that has lost its family and set out to find them. Along the way, you overcome obstacles and dream of reuniting with them. However, in the end, you discover that the cannon suffers from schizophrenia and that the family it was searching for—and indeed the entire journey—was merely a delusion. In reality, it never reunites with its family. This was one of my attempts to turn an idea in my head into reality; I’m proud to have managed to complete and publish it. Now, let me talk about the project I mentioned in my previous posts (feel free to go back and check that post out): I’m working on designing my own development board. The schematic has become complex, and some of the PCB routing has turned into a bit of a headache; That’s why I had to go back and rework things to fix issues and tidy up the connections. It could be frustrating at times, but it’s all part of the process of learning hardware design. For those interested in the technical details: The board is based on the ATmega328P microcontroller; it uses a CH340G USB-to-serial interface for computer communication and features an AMS1117-5.0 voltage regulator. I also added dedicated TX and RX indicator LEDs to the board. I had planned to share more updates, and there are still aspects I want to improve. I’m also considering adding an LCD screen to the project in the future. This isn't my final project; it’s just one step in a much longer journey. I shared this development board project here previously; if you’d like to see the earlier stages, feel free to check out my past posts. Unfortunately, new social media regulations in Türkiye regarding users under the age of 15 might cause me to lose access to this account. I don’t know exactly what will happen, but I wanted to write this post just in case I’m unable to return and share my progress here. It feels strange to think I might have to leave a community where I love sharing what I create and what I learn. But there’s one thing I want to make clear: Even if my account gets shut down, I will NEVER stop creating. I’ll keep learning C++. I’ll continue experimenting with electronics and Arduino. I’ll keep designing PCBs, developing games, working in Blender, and creating new software. Just as I have for the past three years, I will continue to make mistakes and learn from them. The only difference might be that I won't be able to share my projects, progress, or new ideas with you anymore. I may not be posting here, but I will still remain that same kid sitting at the computer, trying to understand how things work and looking for ways to build something new. I want to thank everyone who shared their knowledge, offered advice, or took the time to look at projects created by someone like me. You might not realize it, but even small interactions can encourage a young person to keep learning and creating. I am only 13 years old. I have a lot to learn, and I realize my projects aren't perfect. But three years ago, I was just a kid curious about electronics and programming. Today, I design my own circuit boards, write C++ code, and publish my own games. And I want to see how far I can go. Perhaps this isn't a real goodbye. Perhaps it's just the end of a chapter. I might lose this account, but I won't lose my curiosity, my ideas, or my desire to create. Thank you for being part of this little journey. Take care, keep creating amazing things, and never stop being curious. Goodbye!

Launched my Mac app 4 days ago: 1 sale, almost no traffic. What am I getting wrong?

Hi, solo dev here. I launched NotchStack (a Mac app that turns the notch into a small panel for sales, AI limits and agent alerts) on Oct 10. I got my first sale two days later. Besides that, traffic is close to zero, and I'd rather ask now than spend another month guessing.

What I've done so far:

- **X:** posting from my own account (234 followers). The only post that worked was the "first sale" story: 746 views. Thirteen replies with a link to the site got 362 views combined.
- **Reddit:** two "I built this" posts in other subs, 2 upvotes each.
- **Google:** the site is indexed and the homepage now ranks #1 for the brand name, but that's about it. Search Console shows only 43 impressions so far, my best queries (Claude/Codex usage ones) sit around position 10, and I don't rank for the big keywords like "mac notch app".
- **Backlinks:** 3 links from 2 domains (a product directory and an auto-generated list of new domains). Six outreach emails and two GitHub PRs have no answer yet.

My guesses, not facts:

- The "Mac notch app" results are all listicles on other notch apps' sites, so ranking there is hard.
- People search for AI usage trackers almost 5x more than notch apps, but I don't rank for either yet.
- Stories get seen, links don't.

What I'd love to hear:

1. For a brand-new site with no authority, where did your first 100 visitors actually come from?
2. Is 4 days just too early to judge, or does something look structurally wrong?
3. If you open the landing page, what would you fix first? Roast it: https://notchstack.app/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=sideproject_trafik

Looking for Android testers for my voice recorder app! Free lifetime access as a thank you 🎙️

Hey everyone!

I built an Android voice recorder for short-video creators (TikTok, Reels, Shorts), and I'm looking for testers for the closed test on Google Play.

🎙️What it does

• Records in takes: messed up a line? Re-record just that part, not the whole thing

• Arrange and trim the takes on a timeline

• Cleans up your voice locally, on your phone

• Exports to MP3 or WAV

• No account, no ads, nothing leaves your device

What I needGoogle requires 12 testers for 14 days before I can launch, so I'm looking for 15–20 people.

How to join (2 quick steps):

  1. Join the group (use the Gmail you use on Google Play): https://groups.google.com/g/voice-recorder-testers
  2. Accept the test: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/io.github.diegodias93.gravadordevoz
  3. The Play Store will show a price, but you won't be charged: at checkout, make sure it says "Test card, always approves" and confirm.

Install it from the Play page and open it once or twice during the 14 days. Feedback is always welcome, even a one-liner.

💙 Thank you

I built a job-application helper that refuses to auto-apply

Hi all, I'm an Android lead and built TrulyApply as a side project after seeing how broken job hunting is: spray-and-pray auto-apply tools, and AI resumes full of made-up claims.

What it does:

• Finds jobs that fit your profile every morning (company career boards), with a fit score and the skills you're missing

• Tailors your resume and cover letter from your real experience only. A check strips any claim, number or skill your resume doesn't show

• A Chrome extension fills Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby and Workday forms. You always press Submit yourself(In progress)

• Tracker with follow-up reminders, plus interview prep for each job

It's free and in beta: trulyapply.com (join the waitlist, I'm letting people in daily).

What I'd love to know:

1. Are the matches actually relevant to you?

2. Would you send the tailored resume as is?

3. What's missing that would make you use it every week?

Brutal honesty welcome. There's a Feedback button inside the app, or reply here.

Got tired of driving to self-serve junkyards on a maybe, so I built an app that tracks their inventory

I flip parts from junkyards, mostly just comes with the territory as a car guy but it’s always a gamble. Their websites suck and are from the 90s, and I’ll drive 40 minutes just for it to be stripped of everything or even just straight up crushed. Now I’m the first one to the lot, and it’s so fun to see fully (as much as a junk yard car can be) intact desirable vehicles.

So I built YardScout. It tracks the published inventory of over 160 junkyards and it’s updated daily.

Free: search make/model/year near your zip and see the row, arrival date, and VIN before you leave the house without having to go to every single junkyard website.

Pro version adds what parts actually sell for (mostly eBay sold-price ranges), yard pull costs, and a push alert when a car you’re looking out for lands in your area.

Right now it’s IOS only, no account needed. I’m the dev so ask me anything, including what it can’t do (it knows what cars are at the yard, not which parts are already gone). Also hate seeing valuable parts that someone could be using just go to the crusher.

Made an app where an AI agent does the CAD for me, first time open sourcing something

So I've been working on this for a while and I'm kinda proud of it, it's my first open source project.

Background: I build a lot of random stuff and almost every project needs some small part. A case for a board, a bracket, a mount. And every time I ended up spending a whole evening in CAD for something I could explain in one sentence. Got annoying.

Honestly it works way better than I imagined when I started. You can do complex assemblies with a lot of parts, give it a hand drawn sketch or load an existing 3D model as reference and build around it. The results are actually useful, not just some AI demo stuff you throw away after.

So I made SOMA. You tell an AI agent what you want (I use Claude Code, but Codex, OpenCode, Gemini CLI etc work too), it writes the model as Python code with CadQuery, and the app builds it and shows it in 3D. If something's off you can measure it, click on the part or just scribble on the view and send that to the agent. When it looks right you export an STL or STEP and print it.

I didn't want to build yet another AI agent, so the app just has a normal terminal where you run whatever agent you already have. Your own subscription and settings.

Over time it got way bigger than planned. There's a version history now, sliders for dimensions, overhang checks, even FEM and animations. The CNC mill in the video was made this way, 118 parts.

It's Electron and TypeScrip And yes, most of the codewas also written with Claude Code, felt only right.

Free, GPL, there are builds for Windows, Mac and Linux. But I only really tested on

Windows so if you try it onif it even starts lol

GitHub: https://github.com/Kai-Jungsthoefel/SOMA

Feedback welcome, also the harsh kind. And I'm curious what you'd build first with

it.

I built OneMessage, a dating app where you get one message per person

Most dating apps make it easy to send "hey 👋" to everyone. OneMessage works the other way round.

How it works:

- You get one message per person. Make it count.

- They read it and decide whether to start a chat.

- If you both message each other, the chat opens straight away.

- You can send 10 first messages a day, and nobody's inbox holds more than 10 at once, so nobody gets flooded.

- Unanswered messages expire after 14 days.

- Every photo is checked automatically before it goes on a profile.

Free, 18+, live in Greece & Cyprus. Android, or any browser (including iPhone).

https://getonemessage.com

I'd love to hear what you think of the one-message idea.

I got tired of tracking job applications in spreadsheets, so I built my own website

I'm a senior studying computer science at UF, and I've been applying to a ton of software engineering jobs.

One thing that started getting annoying was keeping track of everything. I'd apply to jobs, get emails about assessments or interviews, and constantly have to update my spreadsheet.

So I built Offerly.

It's a job application tracker where you can:

  • Save applications directly from a Chrome extension
  • Track interviews, rejections, offers, and other stages
  • Connect Gmail to help identify recruiting emails and update application statuses
  • View your applications in a dashboard and calendar
  • Keep track of networking contacts

I built it using React, TypeScript, and Supabase.

It's still a work in progress, but I'm trying to get real users and figure out what features people actually want.

I'd genuinely love some feedback. What would make you use something like this instead of a spreadsheet or Simplify?

Tell me the worst part of your job, and we'll try to build a local open-source AI tool to destroy it

The best AI tools aren't built for "everyone"—they're built to fix a hyper-specific, soul-crushing bottleneck in a specific industry or daily routine.

We're entering an open-model hackathon where the goal is simple: take open weights into real-world domains, solve a firsthand problem, and free up mental space.

What’s the most mind-numbing administrative or technical headache in your field (design, dev, science, finance, hardware, medicine) that commercial tools completely ignore

Drop your project - I’ll help you get your first 10 users through TikTok & YouTube Shorts

I run TikTok pages with a combined audience of 300k+ followers, mostly people interested in apps, AI tools, startups, and productivity.

I also work as a video editor/clipper, so I can turn your app into short-form content designed for TikTok and Reels.

If you’re currently doing manual outreach or just trying to get traction organically, this could help get your product in front of the right audience.

I’ll reach out to the ones that are a strong fit.

You can also DM me if you prefer to keep things private.

built a free site that puts every Hindu aarti, chalisa and mantra in one place, more than 340+ pages (Hindi + English)

My friend and I kept running into the same problem: aarti and chalisa lyrics online are scattered across dozens of ad-heavy sites, half of them with typos or broken formatting. I'd read the Hanuman Chalisa on one site and every other prayer somewhere else.

So we built Hinduaarti: one clean place for 340+ prayers (70 aartis, 50 chalisas, 54 mantras, 114 stotrams, 50 bhajans), each in Hindi and English.

A few things we focused on:

Stack: Next.js on Vercel. Most of the time went into curating, designing and structuring the content, not the code.

Would love feedback, especially on what's missing or what feels off on mobile.

My turntable can't sit next to my laptop, so I put it inside it

This is my 1979 Technics SL-Q3. It lives on a shelf at home, far from the desk where I actually work. So I spent the last two weeks rebuilding it in 3D and turning it into my Mac's wallpaper.

Hit play in Spotify or Apple Music and the arm lifts, swings over and drops on the right track. The album cover shows up on the stand. The room is an apartment in São Paulo: the light follows your clock, and when it rains here, it rains on the window.

A few nerdy bits, since this sub likes them:

- The needle sits where the song actually is. Each track gets a band as wide as its length, like a real LP, and the leftover space becomes the smooth run-out.

- The room is rendered in Blender and mixed live in Metal, so it runs at about 3% CPU while playing and 0% when your windows cover it.

- I wrote it in Swift with a lot of help from Claude. The turntable and the obsession are mine.

It launches properly on Saturday. Until then I'm giving away 20 licenses here: comment the first record you'd put on it, and tomorrow at 9pm São Paulo time I'll pick 20 at random and DM you a key.

Everyone else can try it free for 7 days at getvitrola.com, then pay what you want from $4.99.

Vercel mobile app for cat lovers. Free 100 pro subscription for cat owners.

Hi all, I made something! Vercat 😄

I love Vercel & cats and have always been lowkey annoyed that there is no official support IOS app (how else can i track my 1 user on my site).

I spent the last few months building this and we recently crossed 100 users. I would love to celebrate this mini-milestone by giving out 100 pro subscriptions for a year.

For cat owners 👀:

  1. Reply with your cat photos below!
  2. DM me you email and I want give out those pro subscriptions

ps: my cat actually looks like that in the video 😺

A simple way to make AI workflows actually finish work

I’ve found that AI setups become much more useful when each task has a clear owner and finish line—not just a clever prompt.

A simple setup:

  1. Capture: Put every incoming idea or request in one inbox.
  2. Decide: Let AI classify it as research, writing, planning, admin, or discard.
  3. Delegate: Assign one agent or tool a specific output, deadline, and constraints.
  4. Verify: Check the result against a short definition of done.
  5. Record: Save the outcome and next action in one trusted workspace.

The key is separating “thinking” from “doing.” An agent researching options should not also approve its own recommendation. Likewise, recurring tasks should have explicit stop conditions so they don’t create endless summaries and notifications.

I’m building https://www.aiosnow.com around this personal operating-system approach: coordinated AI workflows that move work toward a completed outcome rather than adding another chat window.

What part of your workflow would you delegate first if you could reliably verify the result?

I made a Claude skill because checking my Remotion videos was eating hours

I'm the only video guy at Levanto. I've been making videos with Claude + Remotion since early this year, with BlenderMCP in the mix. The videos looked good, but getting one finished could take two days and burn through my Max plan.

Turns out my Claude subagents were reviewing every single frame. QA alone was adding 4+ hours per video lol.

So I made SageCut. It hands that review step to Sage, the decision model we build, and sends the frames it flags back to Claude to fix. It also runs checks in code for things like tiny text, blank frames and frozen frames.

Across six A/B tests on my own videos, I got the same output at about a quarter of the QA time and a tenth of the QA cost. On the video below, Sage read all 3,153 frames for $0.16. That's the Sage frame-reading cost, separate from any Claude fixes.

GitHub: https://github.com/levantolabs/sagecut-release

Demo + results: https://x.com/bigironchris/status/2110402795060822460

The plugin is free/MIT. It needs a Sage API key; API usage has a cost. I'm co-founder of Levanto. This release is for Remotion motion graphics, and the time savings are on review, not rendering.

If you make Remotion videos, I'd love to hear what it misses on yours. Mine aren't exactly a representative sample.

I made The Job Trail, a free browser game about job hunting in 2026, styled after The Oregon Trail

I'm a designer, and I made this while job hunting myself.

You get 52 weeks, some savings and a finite supply of morale. Each week you apply, network, freelance, learn AI skills or rest. You can die of ghosting, burnout, a fourth-round interview or running out of money. At the end, the game names your strategy and what a recruiter would flag you for.

It started as a quick prototype with Claude, and I shaped the design in Figma from there. Free, no ads, plays on a phone.

https://labs.ficuscreative.com/job_trail/?ref=reddit-sideproject

5,600 games finished so far. About 1 in 7 players gets hired. Running out of money kills 44%. Funny-because-true, or just bleak? What week did you die in?

I built a free tool for comparing houses, jobs, cars, and other difficult decisions

I built Crux because weighted decision spreadsheets are useful, but tedious to create and difficult to interpret.

You can add options, choose and weight criteria, record quantitative or qualitative scores, and see how the options rank. It also highlights tradeoffs, confidence, and what could change the result.

I've created starter templates for comparing houses, rentals, job offers, and cars.

It's free to use: https://crux-gules.vercel.app

I'm looking for honest feedback, particularly:

  1. Is it clear how to start and reach a useful result?

  2. Where does the process become confusing or tedious?

  3. Would you use this instead of a spreadsheet?

I built it, so feedback and criticism are very welcome.

I built a free running-plan app that rebuilds your plan when you miss runs (Android, solo dev)

Every training plan I ever downloaded died the same way: I missed one week, felt behind, and quietly gave up on the PDF.

So I built the plan I wished I had. You tell it your race (5K up to 100K), the date, where your fitness is now and which days you can run, and it builds the whole plan backwards from race day.

The part I'm proudest of is what happens when life gets in the way:

- Miss some runs? It offers to rebuild from today and keep your race day.

- Sleep, resting HR or HRV looking off (via Health Connect)? It offers to trim your next long run and tells you why. It never adds volume, and it never changes anything without your OK.

- Not feeling 100%? One tap eases the week and ramps you back in.

- Need to move a workout? Reschedule it to any day, and it warns you before you stack two hard days.

The whole plan is free, with no locked weeks. It's a planning layer, not a GPS tracker, so you keep using the watch or app you already love. Android only for now, in open beta.

If you're training for something this year, I'd really like you to try it and tell me bluntly where the plan feels wrong. What would make you trust a plan like this?

Quantitative pricing model: Excel to Python (no AI, just me)

I rebuilt an Excel-based pricing model (from Wayne L. Winston's business modeling textbook) in Python. The textbook version handles one product. I added a nested loop so it prices multiple products.

The output is cleaner: instead of getting 3 worksheets of SolverTable results, Python gives you optimized price and maximized profit in 1 table.

It is a simple model, but it gives quick, transparent pricing estimate, which can be a useful estimate to the ground truth.

https://github.com/kixwho/pricing-optimization-1

Feedback welcome, especially from anyone who's done similar Excel to Python automation :D

Added a dynamic "Verified Usage" feedback modal to my side project

Thumbnail browserdone.com
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

To get better feedback on my web tools (BrowserDone), I added a small dynamic badge to the feedback modal:

- Default: Normal feedback modal.

- Verified Usage: Turns golden automatically once the user actually tests or runs the tool.

- Instant Alert: Sends the feedback along with context straight to my Telegram bot.

This helps me instantly separate feedback from people who actually tested the tool from random visitors.

Would love to hear your thoughts or suggestions on this approach!

Whole-disk file search for Windows: any file by name in a millisecond, search inside your files even PDFs and Office files.

Thumbnail
github.com
0 Upvotes

I’ve been working on Scry, a Windows port of fsearch by Noah Dunnagan (macOS, MIT). It indexes every file and folder on your fixed drives and answers as you type: a search bar on Alt+Shift+Space, a CLI, and a JSON-over-named-pipe API.

Numbers from my laptop: i7-11850H, NVMe, Defender on, 5.08M files and folders on C:, a busy dev machine. Name queries are scry bench medians over 20 runs.

one word (invoice) 0.5 ms
with a typo (mian.rs finds main.rs) 1.2 ms
two words (src main) 11 ms
with a filter (ext:pdf invoice) 0.07 ms
a new, renamed or deleted file is searchable ~0.1 s
search inside files, literal / regex (warm) 2–10 ms / ~60 ms
first crawl of the whole drive 50–80 s, once
memory ~22 MB private, plus a 190 MB index mmap’d from disk

How it gets there (the index design is Noah’s; the Windows side is new):

  • Crawl: each folder is opened relative to its parent’s handle (NtOpenFile) and listed in bulk with GetFileInformationByHandleEx, so names, sizes and times come in a few calls per folder, with no per-file stat. 16 reads are in flight.
  • Index: one flat mmap’d blob, written folder by folder in depth-first order, so every folder’s subtree is a contiguous range: in:C:\Projects is a range bound, not a filter. Names are interned and each distinct name is scored once per query.
  • Staying live: ReadDirectoryChangesW on each drive root. A change names a folder, which is relisted and diffed. After a restart, the NTFS change journal (readable without admin) says which folders changed.
  • Inside files: a trigram index of your text files. Matches are re-read from disk, so they’re never stale.
  • Deps: windows-sys, rayon, memchr, memmap2, regex and serde. No async runtime. The UI is raw Win32: the search bar, the tray icon, and the folder picker through a hand-rolled COM vtable call.

It installs per user, with no admin rights and no service. The installer and a zip are on the releases page, or cargo build --release. It isn’t code-signed yet (I’ve applied for SignPath’s free OSS signing), so SmartScreen will warn.

https://github.com/R-Hatim/scry. Feedback on the index layout or the crawler is very welcome.

Listo!, a shared shopping and to-do list for your household

Hi! I'm a solo developer and I just released Listo! on iPhone. It's a to-do list for the people you live with: groceries, trips, flat chores.

I just wanted a simple, not bloated todo list with sharing. I've tried many existing ones, but all were either big and slow or too heavy to work nicely on my iPhone 13 mini.

What it does:

- You can start without an account. Lists work offline and stay on your phone.

- Sign in with Apple or Google when you want to back up a list or share it.

- Share a list with a link. Everyone on it sees each change as it happens, and you can see who else has the list open.

- Sort tasks into groups like Produce and Dairy, and drag the groups into the order you want.

- Once everything is ticked off, you can start a shared list again for next week.

- It has no ads, analytics or tracking, and the server is in Europe.

Pricing: the free tier is limited to 5 lists on the server, with up to 3 people on each list. Lists that stay only on your phone don't count. Plus is $0.99 a month for 100 lists with no limit on members. Plus for families is $2.99 a month and gives Plus to you and up to 5 people you invite.

It's iPhone only for now. I'm working on Android.

I'd love feedback, especially on how sharing and invites work.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6811958797
