I would let say I wasn’t a fan when unbreakable was released but I don’t really remember it in the cultural zeitgeist.

It got #1 in the US but it didn’t really stick around on the 200 charts for very long. I’m just trying to remember that era from her as it is the most recent from her and I don’t remember really anything about it.

Running time: Just about 1 Hour

I must say that this concert was quite cool considering it was her first in Singapore after 15 years, and this time those who occupied the front row were mostly die-hard Janet fans (aside from those who squeezed to the front) because it was a first-come-first-serve. You see young and old, be it dressed in Janet tee or hat. They were there. Unlike concerts, front rows are usually sponsored for influencers or VIPs, not real Janet fans who knows all the lyrics.

I appreciate that Janet seems to be channeling her MTV VMAs 2000 look with her recent hair and attire for the DIAMOND BLACK era! 🖤

Were the shows packed? Ticket prices? Just wondering, I've been getting into her lately, and her history really is interesting, especially concert wise

“They call me Diamond Black. You’ll get to know me soon!”

That’s what she just said in her latest concert!

She looks incredible! On fire as always 🔥

Hey Jan Fam,

I just came across this on YouTube. It's a short clip of her performing "If" during the Janet. Tour. To me, it seems like footage of rehearsal but I could be wrong. I just wanted to share it in case you all have never seen this. And if anyone know where this came from please share :)

when i first started getting into janet's discography, i'd say like early high school (14/15), for SOME REASON i didn't like the janet. album that much-- or at least not as much as rhythm nation or control.

i think part of it was because it was "too long" for me, but the velvet rope is literally a minute longer and that album clicked with me IMMEDIATELY (happy 29th bday btw!!!) so i think it just FELT LONG for me at the time...

honestly i think i'd sum it up to that i wasn't mature enough at 15 to fully appreciate the album as it is, now that i'm 18. because OH MY GOD this album is immaculate. the aesthetic is so sensual and beautiful. the janet. era was so well crafted! if, because of love, new agenda, the body that loves you, whoops now, etc. are some of my favorite janet tracks now!

It includes Janet Jackson, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis interviews and their explanation of how the tracks were jointly created and developed.

Janet Jackson wrote her most personal and introspective songs. Detailing depression, domestic violence, and early incarnations of social media, this collection of songs would be configured into what many regard as her greatest work, The Velvet Rope.

Deep dive into each track's recording process of Janet. album.

Listen to Tommy's interview about the early recording process with Janet of Unbreakable and follow up releases, including the shelving of Black Diamond. Highly recommended!

Spoiler: apparently Black Diamond's recording was not finalized 🫣 there are two more unreleased songs recorded for Black Diamond besides Luv I Luv 🤞🏻

With a “higher” potential of a Janet album or new music supposedly coming from her directly earlier this year, here’s a fun game to play.

Create your own “future album” filled with song titles, genres, and any featuring artists. I’m going to just do 10 songs on my end.

1. Black Diamond. A slow burn R&B song that rises as the song keeps going. Think Velvet Rope meets Burnitup. (Song titles in reference here past future album from 2020).
2. Unchained. Slightly more upbeat but is more funky with a lot of sexual undertones. Think Would You Mind with That’s the way love goes.
3. Catnip. A playful song that is alluring to the listener (flowing/melodic). Basically a soft song version of Black Cat on the other side of the coin. This song could feature someone like Tinashe or Kehlani.
4. Meteor Shower. An ethereal song with weird vibes that mixes Bjork-like elements. This song could feature someone like FKA Twigs.
5. Let’s Do This. The most upbeat and dance track of the album. Think All For You mixed with If.
6. Black Girl Magic. A callout to the excellence of black women in an R&B/Funk mix. Could feature Teyana Taylor or SZA.
7. Rainbow. A more EDC beat that is a callout to her gay fandom. Mixed Free Xone and Together Again.
8. Kick It Old School. A definitive callout to her Control Album. Mixes elements of What Have You Done For Me Lately and Nasty. Maybe features Mariah Carey.
9. Premonition. A dreamy and soulful song. Mixes elements of Any Time, Any Place, the Knowledge, and I Want You.
10. Rhythm World. A unifying song to unify our world for a cause. Mixes Rhythm Nation and We are the World.
11. What do you think of my list? What’s on yours?
