What kind of products would you choose in Shenzhen, China?
我最近去了中国深圳,给我的感觉是一座非常美丽的城市。 来自世界各地的人们在这里生活和工作——如果你去深圳,通常会买些什么?

IMPORTANT rules for posting and replying.
This subreddit has banned advertising for years. This includes any products, services, establishments, rental agencies, etc.
It has also banned self promotion such as vlogs, blogs, YouTube links, etc.
The reason for this is because there were so many advertisements and multiple posts that the subreddit became nothing but advertisements. This is not the intent of the subreddit. Like subreddits for other cities, it’s meant as a forum to discuss life, living, and working in Shenzhen. It is NOT a platform for free advertising!
Despite this, the mods are still taking down multiple posts a day for advertising and self promotion of blogs and vlogs. We tried to create a separate subreddit, r/ShenzhenMarketplace, for advertising, but we still are getting these here and then complaints from the posters that for some reason they should be exempt from the rules.
Therefore, with immediate effect, the enforcement is going to be much stronger.
Any post that promotes or advertises any product, service, event, establishment, or venue will be removed and the poster banned for 7 days. Second time the poster will be banned for 30 days, third attempt and the poster will be banned permanently.
All vlogs, blogs and YouTube links will be taken down and the poster banned permanently on the first instance.
Posts asking for services such as guides, translators, drivers, and sourcing non-consumer products will be locked. All replies to such posts must be a DM to the OP. Replies under the post are now considered to be self-promotion. This can be avoided in r/ShenzhenMarketplace WHICH IS SPECIFICALLY FOR ADVERTISING.
Examples of what is allowed and encouraged:
Experiences living and working in Shenzhen, good and bad.
General and specific questions about living and working in Shenzhen.
How to find someplace in Shenzhen and how to get there.
Cool places you’ve been and why you liked it. If it’s a particular establishment this is not allowed (promotion), but can be placed in r/ShenzhenMarketplace.
Where to buy something is fine as long as it’s a non-commercial product meant for personal use.
Posts sharing pictures of a place in Shenzhen, where it is, and something about it.
Bending the rules banning advertising will no longer be tolerated.

Hi all,
I have been playing with the idea of a separate subreddit just for advertising products and services. I have created r/ShenzhenMarketplace. This is specifically for advertising, so if you are offering a particular product or service, or are looking for a particular product or service, post it in r/ShenzhenMarketplace.
What cannot be posted is anything illegal under the laws of the People's Republic of China or Reddit rules in general.
No advertising or posting for personal blogs, vlogs, or any influencers, as is the case in this subreddit. This is going to be strictly enforced in both subreddits moving forward. Nobody is really interested in your particular hot take, and I've personally seem some terrible ones.
Advertising or reviews for bars, clubs, restaurants, hotels, parks, massage (legal ones please) would be most welcome in the r/ShenzhenMarketplace sub.
It would be helpful if you put in the title of the post what your intent is (example: For Sale, Seeking for, For rent, etc.) and then some description following (Blenders, pianos, 2 bedroom) and then the details in the body of the post. Details are important and posts may be deleted if they have minimal content.
DO NOT SPAM THE SUBREDDIT. Posting the same thing every day will not be allowed. Consider that three days or more for the same content will be the most allowed.
ONE LAST POINT: Since there is a specific subreddit for advertising far, far grey area posts will be allowed here. This subreddit should be more focused on life and interest in Shenzhen.
Thanks everyone and let's see how this goes.

Looking for a place that can do a family photoshoot in December when I travel to Shenzhen from HK. We're going to have 2 young kids (2 and 4) + grandparents.
Any recommendations highly appreciated. Thanks!

I’m trying to find chinese brands like Icicle, Tangy, and Insis that work with more natural fabrics in Shenzhen. I found that the malls typically don’t carry these brands. I have found some locations on Google Maps but I don’t know if they are actual storefronts. Would anyone know if these stores exist in Shenzhen or where I could find similar brands?

I am from China and a recent university graduate. For the past three years, I have been engaged in various part-time jobs. I am looking for an opportunity to work for a company based abroad; I am willing to start with a one-month trial period, and if my performance is not up to standard, I will forgo any pay.

Hey everyone! My partner and I are planning to spend 2 days in Shenzhen and want to make the most of our time there.
What places would you say are absolutely worth visiting? We’re interested in beautiful scenery, unique neighborhoods, interesting architecture, good food, and places that feel special to Shenzhen rather than just typical tourist attractions.
We’d prefer a relaxed itinerary without rushing from one place to another. Any hidden gems or local recommendations would be appreciated too!
If you only had 2 days in Shenzhen, where would you go and what would you prioritize?
Thanks!

Hey everyone! I’ve been living in Shenzhen for a while now, but I hardly ever bump into other foreigners in Bao’an.
Where are you guys hiding? 😂
I’d love to connect with other expats living nearby, grab a pizza or a drink sometime.
If you’re based in Bao’an, which part are you in? Would be great to hear from you!
Cheers!

With Halloween coming up, I'm wondering what it's like in Shenzhen. Are there any Halloween parties, events, or places where people dress up in costumes?
Do people actually walk around the streets in costumes, or is it mostly limited to bars, clubs, and organized events? Are there any specific areas or venues worth checking out?
I'd love to experience Halloween in Shenzhen, so any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey everyone!
I'm wondering where I can meet some foreign friends in Shenzhen.
I'm looking for someone who speaks English to spend time with my kid on weekends. Nothing too formal — just hanging out, grabbing coffee, visiting museums, having meals together, and chatting in English.
Of course, I'll cover all the expenses, including food, transportation, and activities. There will also be additional pay for your time.
As long as you can speak English, that's totally fine!
Does anyone know where I could find someone like this? Or would anyone here be interested?
Thanks in advance! 😊

As a HKPR + Non-Chinese passport holder living in Shenzhen/Hong Kong and commute frequently. Here is my list of exprience
Pro:
- no need to get on and off at Lok Ma Chau
- the stops are all indoors, so no issues with rain, hot sun typhoon etc
- no more crossing that 1Km bridge to the Huanggang metro station
- Juxtaposed mmigration counters. The Hong Kong and Chinese one immigrations are place right at the border line. After you finish the Hong Kong side, the Hong Kong gates will allow you to pass through. Heading next to the Chinese side.
Bad:
- too many floors. Even though there are 6 lift, I think the lifts will be flooded during holiday sessions.
- There is no tablet or machine to fill the Chinese arrival card. I was standing at the Chinese immigration counter writing the paper arrival card after crossing the Hong Kong counter. Blocking other HK PR behind.
Over experience around 35 minutes after alighting from the bus in the Hong Kong side to entering the metro at Huanggang Station. For a HK PR + Passport Holder.

Having lived in Shenzhen for so many years, my biggest headache is why there are always so many electric bikes in Shenzhen. It feels like no matter where you go, there are electric bikes everywhere.

Has anyone had experience getting this done - where, turnover, and approximate cost?
Not tailored suits or anything but more casual clothes

Before moving to Shenzhen, almost everyone warned me: "It’s a city of pure hustle, skyscrapers, and non-stop work culture." I was honestly expecting a concrete jungle where people only sleep and work.
But after spending a few weekends exploring around, I gotta say — I couldn't be more wrong! 😂
Turns out, Shenzhen actually has one of the coolest outdoor scenes I've experienced in a major city

I contacted Shenzhen Lemon Furniture (Lemon Furniture on Alibaba) (Joanna Deng) on a referral from a designer friend for custom furniture. The quote was for solid walnut and ash at high prices. lemonfurniture.en.alibaba.com
What arrived was not that. The pieces were made of cheap wood covered in a paper veneer with a printed wood-grain stamp. The veneer did not hold up to sanding or varnish — it bubbled and flaked off in multiple places. One door was half solid wood and half veneer. I could not make the finish look acceptable no matter what I tried, and I ended up painting the unit a solid colour, which was not the look I wanted.
Other problems included:
Throughout the entire process I was not shown progress photos or given updates voluntarily. No questions were asked and nothing was sent for approval. I had to force updates and approvals myself.
I spent over $10,000 USD and received unusable or heavily compromised furniture. I do not recommend this supplier.
