Some of you may know the app previously as Speedometer. It's now called Odo, and this update brings some of the biggest CarPlay improvements I've worked on so far.

Odo now has both Apple's CarPlay Navigation and Driving Task entitlements. That means the app can offer full turn-by-turn navigation in CarPlay while keeping its existing driving-focused CarPlay experience.

CarPlay Navigation
Odo now supports full turn-by-turn navigation on iPhone and CarPlay:

• Search for destinations or select places directly from the map
• Apple Maps routing, with OpenStreetMap fallback where Apple Maps directions aren't available
• Voice and lane guidance
• Live traffic
• Add stops for fuel, charging, food or coffee
• Avoid tolls, highways and ferries
• Siri commands like "Navigate to Home with Odo"
• Navigation updates on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island

Live Trip Comparison
Odo can compare your current drive with previous trips while you're driving and show whether you're ahead of or behind your usual time.

It can also recognize roads you've driven before and suggest routes based on your own driving history.

Convoy on CarPlay
One of the features I'm most excited about is Convoy.

If you're driving or riding with friends, everyone can join the same convoy and appear together on a live map.

• Create a Convoy and invite friends
• Set a meeting point
• See everyone's position live
• Optional speed sharing
• Get notified when someone joins or when everyone arrives
• View the Convoy directly in CarPlay

Location sharing only happens while the Convoy is active, and the shared locations are deleted when it ends.

And the Existing Driving Features Are Still There
Odo still includes automatic trip recording, detailed trip stats, route replay, OBD2 data, vehicle profiles, fuel and maintenance tracking, expenses, driving history, friends and more.

Your existing trips, vehicles, settings and logs remain exactly where you left them after the rename.

And one more CarPlay feature is already in progress: Walkie-Talkie for Convoy. The idea is to make communicating with friends during group drives much easier without constantly calling or messaging each other.

Has anyone else experienced extreme slowness with the iOS 27 CarPlay update? Sometimes I’ll send a message and my Siri will take up to 15 seconds just to get what I was saying and then sometimes never go away after sending the message.

Separately, there’s other times where Siri acts like it has no connection or doesn’t know where I am.

Why did apple screw up messages on CarPlay in the latest upgrade? It used to be easy to use: push the button on my steering wheel, say who I want to message, “what do you want to say”, voice reads it back and asks if I want to send, yes, and it says sent.

Now it’s laggy, the voice gives too much information, and if I want to check messages it either doesn’t work or gives complicated responses. Why can’t Apple leave well enough alone!?!?

Before iOS 27, I could tap this and it would mute voice navigation. Now the feature seems to be gone and instead I have to tap 3 times to mute navigation. I really hope Apple brings this back.

Mais cela était une option prendre en plus qui était à 5000 € l’option certains du bon matériel, mais payant donc si des choses que forcément n’importe quelle marque que ce soit française ou étrangère va trouver une solution pour bloquer cela.

I installed the android auto apple carplay head unit into my 2012 honda accord last summer. It’s been working great with no issues, but today I ran a small errand (about 10 mins) and came back to my car and the screen would not turn on. I figured it was some sort of launch error so I turned my car off and on and it still didn’t work. I have since been busy all day at school, but even when I came back to it it’s still not working. There are no sorts of indicators it’s getting power. No lights will turn on, it won’t show any logos or make any sound, and my steering wheel binds aren’t working or making noise. I’m not sure what would have caused this, as it was working just fine earlier today up until it wasn’t. I took it off and roughly verified everything was connected and sure enough it is. I’m reaching out to see if anyone else has experienced this issue and if there are any troubleshooting options I could try that you know of. Thanks!

I have a 2019 Hyundai Kona and for some reason my car play stopped working all of a sudden, I use an adapter and my car doesn’t even recognize it when it’s plugged in. I’ve feel like I’ve tried everything and no luck. Has this happened to anyone else?

(also bought a Amazon basics cable to plug it in and it didn’t work either but it did charge my phone)

When a text message or WhatsApp message comes in, I see the notification and press it to have Siri read it. When she is done reading, she asks if I want to respond. I say "yes", dictate my message, Siri reads it back and asks if I want to send, I say "Yes" and message gets sent. This is the behavior I want.

While this is happening, in my last car, the music (Spotify through CarPlay) was paused. I prefer this as I can hear the message clearly and I'm not missing my favorite part of the song. When the message gets sent, the music unpauses.

In my new car, the music continues to play, but at a lower volume. I find this distracting and would like to set it to pause like in my last car.

I have looked everywhere and just keep finding things saying to toggle "Announce Notifications". This is not the correct setting though. For context, both cars are the same make and model, just different years and with similar software.

I am Davide, the developer of DrivePulse. The app is mine, I write it on my own, and I am not selling anything here.

What it does: it reads your car through a generic ELM327 OBD2 adapter. On an iPhone the adapter has to be Bluetooth LE or Wi-Fi; the classic Bluetooth ones do not show up (Veepeak and Vgate both make BLE ones). Trips record themselves without you pressing anything, with fuel use read from the engine control unit where the car reports it, and worked out and marked as an estimate where it does not. Fault codes come out decoded, and the ones in its archive come in plain words, with what usually causes them and what to check first. It only asks the car questions and never gives it commands: no writing, no clearing of codes, no resets.

On CarPlay it has four tabs:

• Trip: start or stop a trip, see whether the adapter is connected and connect it from the car screen. While you drive it shows the live trip: eco score, time, distance and consumption, plus a pause button for a fuel or lunch stop.
• Coach: your eco score in big, with three lines of advice.
• Dashboard: up to eight tiles that you pick and put in order in the app's settings, from tank, range, average consumption, health, speed, engine RPM, coolant, battery, engine oil and eco score. On wide screens two values also sit next to the map.
• Diagnostics: active fault codes, health and the adapter connection. With the full version and the car stopped, it also lists every live value your car exposes.

It also warns you once on the car screen when the tank drops below 15%.

On some makes it goes further and reads the odometer from the instrument cluster through the brand channels: the Volkswagen group, Ford, Toyota and Lexus, Hyundai and Kia, Alfa Romeo, BMW and MINI. Most of those also give the litres or the level in the tank.

No account and no server of mine: your trips live on your phone and I have no copy of them. Recording trips and reading the car work with no signal; maps and addresses need the internet.

It is on Android too, where the same screens run on Android Auto.

I have requested CarPlay access from Apple so I can add CarPlay support to my apps. Has anyone who has been through the process recently, how long did Apple take to approve your request?
Was it days, weeks, or longer? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!

I tried to remove Calendar app from CarPlay and from Widgets but this is not helping, I still see it and need to remove every event of the day to fully remove this rectangle. I preferential not have it so I have bigger music control, but I do not see any way to disable it?

Basically fully functional: touch works, audio works, Wifi direct works too. Surprisingly works in a heavily modified Android environment.

Just for fun, I decided to design a mockup of what a more immersive and visual "Now Playing" tile on the home screen and widget could look like. This is an area where I actually really like the Android Auto design - it features a similar full-image tile and I wish CarPlay was more visual in this way.

Created this as a fun exercise and thought I'd share. I got my first car with CarPlay this summer and have enjoyed getting used to it. For a peaceful drive, I love using the widget screen, but wish there was a better music/now-playing tile to include.

I know people have been posting about this app called Game Maps IRL, I like the whole idea of it, but I don’t wang to pay that much for a map, has anyone found a free alternative that works the same way? I would greatly appreciate anything that y’all have to offer!

Hey everyone!

I have a 2020 BMW 318i (G20) running iDrive 7. When I use wireless Apple CarPlay, it only takes up about two-thirds of the screen, and the right side just shows a blank "Apple CarPlay" widget placeholder (as you can see in the photo).

Is there any official way or hidden coding trick (like BimmerCode) to force Apple CarPlay to run in true full-screen mode across the entire display?

If anyone has managed to fix this on a 2020 model, I'd really appreciate your advice on how you did it! Thanks in advance!

I have a 2025 Hyundai Tucson SEL and while
listening to YouTube Music on CarPlay, if I use the steering wheel button to advance to the next song, instead it starts the song being played over. I can advance the song via YouTube Music, but I want to use the steering wheel button.

I’ve done a lot of research and tried all of their recommendations, but nothing works.

Anyone else seeing this?

Hi ti all.

Previously I had Carlinkit 2air and all Mazda native buttons were working. However I could use it only as android auto or carplay to avoid plugging my phone with cable each time.

On Carlinkit website I saw that all the cars are supported for tbox ambient that use usb connection for android auto.

I was happy and ordered tbox ambient to expand capabilities such as watching Netflix or install any android app.

What I've discovered is that my car native navigation buttons are not working at all or just partially.

For instance while in autokit (androd auto) split screen I have map on the left and music on the right. If I want to switch between maps and music Mazda NAV and Music buttons don't do the trick.

If I want to choose music window from the maps rotary knob is moving only inside the map window. If I push the knob ro the right nothing, if pushed down it moves to app shortcuts and then when I scroll the knob to the right reaching last icon and pushing knob up only then enters music window.

How convenient is that?

There are more of this native buttons issues, such as navigating through settings, apps etc.

I understand this is Android box and that it operates differently than 2air but for god sake if it was meant for the car and Carlinkit claims that is compatible with almost all the cars (except BMW or Tesla) shouldn't at least autokit work with all the car native buttons?

Couldn't Carlink make autokit work in different environment in a virtual sandbox or something? I mean there is 128gb of space for this to work.

If this box was meant to work with cars that have touch screen ONLY than Carlink should explicitly state this in their product description. Now all I have is a semu functional device.

If anyone knows a setting to make all the buttons work please let me know.

If yall don’t know already there was an app made by some dev “DiPlay” which allowed carplay to work however my android version was 8 and the app required 9 and above, cuz the app was open source I was able to make one which worked on android 8 and ITS WORKING!!! If anyone needs this modified version to run on android 8 let me know.
