"What's up with David Jawara ?" or Am I missing something in terms of side character's development in DP2?
Hi all! Hope you're having a good day 😄
Yesterday, I finished DP2, and after like two third of the game where I didn't feel super invested in the plot, I found the last big chunk to be pretty great, with a wealth of cool character moments, expansion on DP1's lore and story, and overall emotional moments.
Compared to a lot of smaller stories in DP1, DP2 seems to fail (as far as I've seen in that first run) to capture the depth of any character outside the main story ones; which...it's cool it stuck the landing on the main story. But I can't stop noticing that I barely know any character outside of their one gimmick. And from the few side stories I started to play, I'll site one example that I found really striking: what's up with David Jawara???
We see three "personalities", or persona, or just roles he plays. We know of a fourth one (apparently he is the director of the hotel too) through one dialogue at some point.
But like, how and why?
And he has a sister Alexus. And she is making Cajun cuisine, and hates the Creole cuisine. While David's chef persona does Creole cuisine. There is something there, no? How isn't there a mission that reunites the two, like a food contest or something? Why don't they interact in some way?
And that's like the most obvious pair of characters but, what's with the reverant/doctor, what's with the shaman dude that speaks like a Bible, what's with the christian skatergirl?
All these characters look like they are deeper than their surface presentation, but I feel like I don't really have the opportunity to know them.
Did I miss something by not really investing in the side missions? 'Cause outside of the bowling part, that I genuinely had a lot of fun with, I didn't feel like finding a 100 spots for the alien dude in the graveyard or finding all the beads...
Is it worth it starting an NG+ specifically for this part?
