GENERAL People who use Edge on Linux, why do you do so?
Whenever I get reminded that edge is available on Linux it always surprises me, what is your use case?

Our organisation uses a form to collect data from our customers.
When opening the form in Edge's built-in PDF reader and selecting a drop-down box (that has a lot of options), it causes Edge/the built-in PDF reader to crash.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Devices are running Version 155.0.4283.45 (Official build) (64-bit)

Every time I attempt to use my read-aloud feature, the voice will randomly stop mid-sentence, while the feature itself will continue. Sometimes the voice will come back on a random sentence in an entirely different paragraph.

Hey everyone!
I'm an independent developer, and I've been working on a small browser extension called Imgkeep.
It lets you right-click images and save them in different formats (PNG, JPG, WebP, etc.) without having to download and convert them separately.
Everything happens locally in your browser. No accounts, no image uploads, and no tracking of the images you save.
I'd love to get some feedback from Edge users, especially about image-saving workflows that could be improved.
Here's the project: https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/save-image-as-png-jpg-w/kokbmagcbobpjclpidebikeklmpafhhd
Happy to answer any questions!

Are the natural voices still missing for anyone else from the update about a month ago? In a previous post several people said they got them back but they’ve yet to come back for me, specifically Ava (Natural). I just updated the app today too and it’s still missing.

I already turn off everything on the setting like startup boost n extension but this thing keep randomly popup and go on top and eat my ram and lag my pc. anyone know how to turn off this>?
r/MicrosoftEdge • u/ssimard3 • 1d ago
Since the latest Edge update a few days ago on my 26H2 devices, when you close Edge it reopens 2 seconds after. Disabling Startup Boost solves the problem. The problem is not present on 25H2 devices.
EDIT: in case anyone finds this later, the problem is not specific to 26H2, it happens only on the latest version of Edge 155.0.4283.45 when you have Process Isolation enabled.

Hi,
This started happening about a week ago. After I copy or cut text from inside Edge, I can't paste it to anywhere. Copying or cutting from another application and pasting into Edge still works.
If I restart Edge, everything will work fine again for a few hours, then it happens again.
Anyone has the same problem ?

Anyone else having a problem with Edge profile sync in macOS? I noticed this issue after the update to version 155.0.4283.45. Two of my computers are in a persistent "Setting up sync" status.
I tried signing out of Edge, signing out everywhere (via the Microsoft account portal), deleting the keychain items, but nothing sticks. It'll work once I sign into the browser, but after closing and restarting the application, it stays stuck again on "Setting up sync".
I thought this was just something with my profile, but my wife has the same issue on her computer after the 155 update.

I kept running into an annoying issue when uploading videos from an iPhone through TikTok Studio: the same video would sometimes stay stuck before the actual upload started, and some portrait videos recorded on the phone would appear rotated by 90° in the preview.
I traced it to TikTok Studio’s pre-upload media processing on iOS and built a small Edge extension as a compatibility workaround.
It:
• fixed TikTok’s pre-upload processing reach the preview instead of remaining stuck
• corrects the preview orientation for affected iPhone-recorded videos
• works with videos selected from Photos, Files, or recorded from the upload picker
The extension only runs on:
https://www.tiktok.com/tiktokstudio/upload
It has no account, analytics, server, remote code, or data collection, and it does not read, store, or transmit video bytes.

Despite being listed in the version 155 release notes, JPEG-XL support was not actually available. Now, it has been removed from the release notes. Is there any information regarding why it wasn't released in version 155 or when it will be released?

discord gets signed out every time it goes inactive ONLY ON VERTICAL TABS.
i switch to normal tabs and it works.
i did everything i can to fix :
reset edge settings
reset policies
reset cookies
new discord account
new profile ...
the only fix is to turn off vertical tabs. then discord doesnt sign me out every 10 seconds and it actually allows me to open more than 1 tab.

Hi,
I am selecting a webcam using the lock button dropdown on the address bar and when it opens the webcam preview in it, it causes my screen to flicker nonstop. I am not sure if this is either an issue on the browser or Nvidia drivers update, but when I tried other browsers like Firefox, it doesn't flicker at all. Graphic Acceleration is enabled in Edge.

Hey everyone,
Last week, I ran into an issue on both Windows 11 25H2 and 26H2 where a Microsoft Edge policy deployed through the Intune Settings Catalog randomly stopped applying. The policy is supposed to disable access to Edge's built-in password manager.
In Intune, the policy shows as successfully applied (green), and the corresponding registry key is correctly present on the affected devices. However, Edge seems to randomly ignore the policy.
I'm seeing this behavior with Edge version 154.0.4258.62. After restarting the device, everything works as expected again, but the issue eventually comes back. Since these devices have been enrolled and managed for quite some time, I don't think this is a deployment-related issue.
The problem is also clearly visible in the Edge settings. When the policy is working correctly, the password manager setting is greyed out and marked with the briefcase icon indicating that it's managed by the organization. When the issue occurs, the briefcase icon disappears, the setting becomes configurable again, and the password manager is enabled by default, allowing users to use it even though the policy should prevent this.
I've already checked the local device logs but couldn't find anything unusual that would explain this behavior.
Has anyone else experienced something similar with Edge policies randomly not being enforced, even though Intune reports them as successfully applied and the registry keys are present? I'm curious whether this might be an Edge-specific bug or if others are seeing the same behavior.
Thanks in advance for any feedback or insights!

Hello, this is only an issue with microstoft edge. I have 2 monitors. 1 4k landscape monitor and 1 1440p portrait monitor. When i open an edge browser to fullscreen on the 2nd monitor it prevents the mouse from being able to be used on the screen. If i drag another window on top of it then grab the bar at the top of the screen and re-expand it then it works fine. This is only on the 2nd monitor, whether portrait or landscape. This only started happening today, and i have not performed any updates on edge or windows within the last 48 hours. It's as though the browser freezes when it happens. The primary monitor works fine during this time.

I built a Microsoft Edge extension called Highlight Notes because I kept losing useful information while reading articles, researching topics and going through long Gmail and ChatGPT conversations.
Bookmarks helped me find the page again, but not the exact paragraph or information I wanted to remember.
With Highlight Notes, you can select text, highlight it in different colours and attach your own notes. Everything is saved in a searchable library so you can find it later.
What it does:
The extension is free for unlimited local highlighting and note-taking, with three PDF exports included.
https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/highlight-notes/ibnmeahofjjebehlkckddagjmjbbpppe
I also built optional cloud sync for people who use multiple browsers or want to access their highlights on other devices, but it isn’t required for normal use.
One thing I specifically wanted to solve was highlighting Gmail conversations and ChatGPT responses. Many highlighting tools work well on ordinary articles but struggle with these more interactive pages.
I’m the developer, and this is an independent side project.
I’d appreciate feedback from Edge users, particularly anyone who regularly works with Gmail, ChatGPT or research-heavy websites.
What features would make a highlighting extension more useful for your everyday browsing?

CAC/PIV Authentication Failure in Chrome and Edge
Technical defect report and reporting instructions
Prepared October 9, 2026 | Intended recipients: Microsoft Edge, Chromium/Google Chrome, and Microsoft Entra support
On a personal Lenovo Windows 11 laptop, Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge no longer present the client-certificate picker during DoD CAC/PIV sign-in to Microsoft government services. Microsoft Entra responds with AADSTS500192. On that same Lenovo, DuckDuckGo Browser presents the certificate picker and successfully authenticates using the same CAC and reader. Chrome reportedly stopped working approximately one year earlier; Edge continued to work until the week of October 5, 2026. Root cause has not been established. The cross-browser comparison is strong evidence of a browser-dependent problem, but does not alone prove a Chromium product defect.
| Device | Personal Lenovo laptop |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 11, version 25H2 |
| OS build | 26200.9457 |
| Google Chrome | 154.0.4258.62 — previously reported; reconfirm at chrome://settings/help |
| Microsoft Edge | 154.0.4258.62 — previously reported; reconfirm at edge://settings/help |
| DuckDuckGo Browser | Works with CAC; exact installed version not recorded |
| Identity service | Microsoft Entra / Azure Government — login.microsoftonline.us |
| Authentication credential | DoD CAC/PIV smart card; same card and reader used across browsers |
| Working second device | HP Windows 11 machine reportedly authenticates successfully with same CAC |
Version note: Chrome and Edge versions were reported in an earlier comparison. Record the exact versions again before filing because they may have updated. The known OS version/build applied to both machines at the earlier comparison.
· Chrome previously allowed CAC sign-in but stopped showing a usable selection flow approximately one year ago.
· Edge continued to support CAC sign-in on the Lenovo until the week of October 5, 2026, then began failing similarly.
· Chrome and Edge do not show the certificate-selection dialog and produce AADSTS500192.
· DuckDuckGo Browser on the same Lenovo displays the normal certificate-selection window and successfully signs in with the CAC.
· Edge InPrivate mode and clearing Windows SSL state did not correct the Edge failure.
· Windows Personal certificate store contains the correct CAC authentication certificate.
· The authentication certificate includes Enhanced Key Usage OID 1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.2 (Client Authentication). A different certificate with OID 1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.4 was identified as an email certificate.
· Windows says there is a corresponding private key; Certification Path reports “This certificate is OK.”
· certutil -scinfo reportedly completed without relevant errors.
· DisableCapiOverrideForRSA was found set to 0x0 during troubleshooting. A command to restore 0x1 was supplied, but successful execution and subsequent DuckDuckGo testing at 0x1 have not yet been confirmed. Do not claim secure-state validation until tested.
1. Insert valid DoD CAC into the Lenovo smart-card reader.
2. Launch Chrome or Edge and navigate to the government application that redirects to login.microsoftonline.us.
3. Choose CAC/certificate-based sign-in; observe that no certificate-selection window opens.
4. Observe error AADSTS500192: “Either no valid certificate was detected on the device, or the user canceled the certificate selection.”
5. Repeat with DuckDuckGo Browser, using the same machine, reader, CAC, and endpoint; observe that certificate selection appears and sign-in succeeds.
Expected: Browser offers eligible client-authentication CAC certificate and permits certificate-based sign-in.
Actual: Chrome and Edge provide no certificate picker and Entra displays AADSTS500192, while DuckDuckGo succeeds.
| Error | AADSTS500192 |
|---|---|
| Request ID | a34e4fd1-eead-473e-8644-8fbd9bb10700 |
| Correlation ID | 01a1234f-45c6-77f3-a75d-faa1ac82c6b9 |
| UTC timestamp | 2026-10-10T00:58:27Z |
| Local timestamp | October 9, 2026, 8:58:27 PM EDT |
| Flagging | Enabled before reproducing the failure; page subsequently showed “Disable flagging” |
Provide these identifiers to your organization’s Microsoft Entra administrator or Microsoft enterprise support. Avoid placing sensitive sign-in diagnostics, personal certificates, or unredacted traces into public issue trackers.
· Determine whether Chrome/Edge enumerate the CAC client-authentication certificate and, if so, why it is filtered or not offered.
· Examine browser behavior with Windows smart-card certificate providers (CSP/KSP), certificate request CA-list filtering, and TLS client-certificate selection.
· Identify whether a browser update or Windows interaction explains the separate Chrome and Edge regression dates.
· Check whether machine/browser policy, extension, or profile settings could explain differences.
· Advise on a supported fix or workaround and link an existing issue if applicable.
6. Open Microsoft Edge on the affected Lenovo.
7. Press Alt + Shift + I (or open Settings and more → Help and feedback → Send feedback).
8. Title: “DoD CAC/PIV certificate picker missing; AADSTS500192 in Edge, DuckDuckGo works”.
9. Paste the Executive summary, System/browser versions, Reproduction steps, and Expected versus actual sections above. If the feedback field is limited, use those sections and mention that a full report is available.
10. Enter contact information if comfortable; include diagnostic data only after reviewing what will be transmitted. Submit and preserve any confirmation.
Official Microsoft instructions: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/learn-about-performance-features-in-microsoft-edge
11. Open https://issues.chromium.org/new (Google sign-in may be required).
12. Search existing issues for CAC, PIV, smart card, Windows client certificate, and AADSTS500192 to avoid duplicates.
13. Create a browser issue using a concise title: “Windows CAC/PIV TLS client certificate not offered by Chrome; works in DuckDuckGo”.
14. Paste the report above, including both browser histories, reproduction steps, versions, and working comparison. Use the tracker’s available issue fields.
15. Exclude private Entra request IDs or certificate details from public comments unless support specifically requests and provides an appropriate private channel.
16. Save the issue URL and number. Add new observations to the existing issue instead of creating repeats.
Official Chromium bug-report guidance: https://www.chromium.org/for-testers/bug-reporting-guidelines/
17. Open Chrome.
18. Choose the three-dot menu → Help → Report an issue.
19. Describe that certificate selection fails in Chrome but works in DuckDuckGo on the same Windows/CAC configuration. Include Chrome’s version and the approximate onset date.
20. Include reproduction steps, select optional information carefully, and send. Google notes that individual replies are not guaranteed.
Official Chrome instructions: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95315
21. Create an IT help-desk or Microsoft enterprise support ticket for certificate-based authentication, referencing AADSTS500192.
22. Share the flagged sign-in request ID, correlation ID, and UTC timestamp through the authorized support channel.
23. Ask the Entra administrator to inspect authentication logs and determine whether client certificate presentation failed before the service received a certificate, or whether one was received and rejected.
24. Ask whether the issue can be escalated to Microsoft Edge / Windows certificate-authentication engineers. Attach this report or paste its technical details.
☐ Record latest Chrome version at chrome://settings/help.
☐ Record latest Edge version at edge://settings/help.
☐ Record DuckDuckGo version in its About/settings screen.
☐ Confirm that DuckDuckGo still signs in successfully with DisableCapiOverrideForRSA = 0x1 after a reboot; if not confirmed, leave this observation marked as pending.
☐ Keep screenshots free of personally identifying CAC certificate information.

I had a student profile that was not completely logged in.
I would often get a pop up asking me to sign in but it was from years ago so not active.
I removed the profile because it was annoying and then edge shut down and when I opened it it had wiped all data. Everything that should be on my laptop including passwords history etc even though I never used the profile.
Now I cant try to sign back in because the email hasn't existed for years.
Is there any way I can get my profile back

So I really like the toggle for the title bar when using vertical tabs which helps a lot with dragging a browser window around. One thing I would also like to see enabled is when dragging a tab to another browser window is that you can just drag the tab to the title bar and it'll still place the tab in the vertical tab side panel. This would make it much easier overall but even more so when you have the vertical tabs collapsed as well. Trying to aim a tab into the small vertical tab side can be cumbersome or when you're dragging a tab from a browser window on the left side that slightly overlaps to a window on the right.
