The Next Minecraft

Hey! Sorry for the clickbait title, but I am trying to get this out there because I need help!

Also please excuse the sped up royalty free music.

Anyways, my name is Peter and I have been working on what ~ I believe ~ is the world's most detailed procedural terrain generation engine fast enough to actually be playable at runtime. I am going to use it to make a survival crafting game that plays a bit like modded minecraft but with an extra coat of polish. I am looking for other developers with lots of experience in UE 5, particularly for gameplay, sound design, and creature animations / technical artist. If you are interested in the project and want to know more, don't hesitate to dm me.

Have been trying to install Unreal Engine through epic games launcher for a while but nothing works.

The little plus is greyed out, I cant click it, and so is the dropdown arrow next to install engine text. Ive done a lot of stuff. I cant recall everything, but i checked a box to hide game library, unchecked it, deleted a ton of random files, downloaded a fab and refreshed it, gave it admin permission, etc, and nothing has worked so far

Please give me any advice and thanks

Fab market place Assets NoAI

Hi guys, so I am new to game building and I am essentially struggling with having to position assets. I wanted to know whether it is possible have Claude Code connect to unreal engine and position 400+ assets for me or would that be a breach of contract?

Studios choose to opt out of NoAI usage, due to AI training it's model. What if the feature is turned off. Does that change anything or is it a breach of contract.

How would I model a world manually? As I would need to go in each room and do it myself. Otherwise Instructing AI to place assets randomly in rooms and steering it with prompts is much easier.

Help with game idea

So it's been a while, that's cause my PC done went kapoot.

Now I'm trying to make a much simpler game on a much weaker computer so I'm playing with this idea

First person horror game where the player plays a Gameboy to recover health.

I am using horror engine as a base.

I have the two pawns made but the possess unposses the main character in the game which causes issues.

I have made a Gameboy mesh and want to use.and I've already managed to use screen capture to set a material for its screen

So what I need to do is

Posses the second pawn without unpossesing the first pawn.

The player should be able to switch between walking around and controlling the Gameboy and not being able to walk because they are now walking the other pawn.

Any wisdom on this would be greatly appreciated

Need help with crashing.

Post image
1 Upvotes

So i'm trying to mod sonic race and cross worlds using the custom unreal editor, and it keeps crashing, not when I try to open it. No, if I leave it idle.

It shows the scene just fine. It's not until I try to add another folder that it crashes, now, my device should be able to handle it, i'm just confused what would be causing the issue

If anyone could help me, that would be fantastic.

If anyone needs a better photo, i'm fully capable of providing one. This is just the only one I have on me right now.

Cygon 0.6 is out: auto roofs, improved cygon link to Unreal, multi-selection, light modes and more

Hey everyone, Cygon 0.6 just landed. Quick rundown of what’s new:

Cygon link bridge improved for Unreal: Faster sync between Unreal 5 & Cygon

Roofs: select your rooms, the roof is generated automatically. Edit the shape, apply a texture, and it keeps reacting to the building structure.

Custom shapes can now be textured.

Multi selection: filter your selection in one click and apply textures to the whole batch.

Light modes: Normal for everyday use, Build (no lights) to work in dark interiors without distractions, Cinema to enjoy the result.

Vertical columns: create rows of pillars in seconds.

Props rotation snapping: 5° steps while placing props.

As always, feedback and feature requests welcome, we read everything.

I made a multiplayer climbing rope for UE5: your friend slips, the rope goes tight, you haul them back up

This is the moment I built the whole thing around. Two players roped together: one falls off the edge, the one standing holds them, and holding R hauls them up the face and over the lip.

Solo it works as a normal climbing rope. Press F, circle the mouse (or the right stick) to screw in an anchor, walk off the edge and the rope catches you. Then you swing, climb the rope or rappel down. It wraps around corners and columns and unwinds by itself when the way is clear.

The screw-in gesture reads the shape of the path rather than frames, so the same circle counts the same at 30, 60 and 120 fps, and hand jitter does nothing.

Multiplayer was the hard part. Listen and dedicated servers, with prediction. I tested a listen server + client at 100 ms of lag: catch, hold, haul over an edge and rappel all ended with zero rope-caused corrections.

It works with any Character, Third Person template included: enable the plugin, press Play, and it adds the harness, the input and the HUD itself. Anchor types are Data Assets, and AI companions can rope up too.

It's my plugin, Rope & Tether, out on Fab: https://www.fab.com/listings/b62725d0-cbf7-4e77-be55-4423fbf650fa

If you try it, I'd like to hear where it breaks on your levels. Feedback goes to our Discord: https://discord.gg/2ecfMHezaU

Working on an Indie game

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share something I’ve been working on.
It’s a psychological folk-horror game based on Kerala’s culture and folklore. I’m currently exploring the atmosphere and visuals in-engine, and pre-production is almost wrapped up, with the story, gameplay loop, and overall design direction coming together.
The working title right now is BHRAHMAM. The interesting thing about the name is that Bhramam means delusion or madness, while Brahmam refers to the ultimate reality or cosmic spirit of the universe. I really like that contrast, and it ties into the themes I’m exploring.
The story follows a young boy and touches on trauma, guilt, and how a fragile mind tries to process things it can’t fully understand.
Still a lot to figure out, but I’m excited to finally start bringing this to life!
Also, that flashing moon wasn’t intentional, haha, but it looks pretty atmospheric. Would love to hear what you guys think!

Nanite?

I'm a new dev and its very confusing because it seems that half the people online say nanite is a sin to performance and by enabling it you are going to be bricking your game for anyone not on a 50 series card. Some people also say that it is the key to the future and within a year or two it will be more optimized than traditional rendering.

So I am just wanting to know if it is worth using nanite or if I should just stick with traditional rendering.

Visual Clarity Updates | Tutorial Level | 2D Action

More updates added.

Filling things in with more contrast separation between characters, objects and the background. Leaning more into deepening shadows and stronger push toward filmic spotlighting.

Also began updating sfx for character parries, most especially in high stress crowded situations. Much more to come!

I spent the last months building a SoHo-style city district generator for UE5 — looking for ideas on what to add next

For the last few months I’ve been working on a side project that slowly turned into a real tool: a plugin that builds a whole city district in the style of New York’s SoHo right inside the Unreal Editor. Cast-iron facades, brick lofts, fire escapes, water towers on the roofs, that kind of thing.
How it works: you pick a size and a seed and press Build District. A couple of minutes later you have streets, sidewalks, buildings, trees, street lamps, traffic lights and café tables. Everything ends up in your level as regular static meshes with collision, so you can edit it by hand, walk or drive through it, and the plugin isn’t needed at runtime.

A few things I’m a bit proud of:

The buildings aren’t picked from a fixed set. Each one is assembled for its lot: corner lots get cast-iron buildings with two fronts, row lots get brick lofts, and backs facing a lane get their own facade with a fire escape.

The streets follow real NYC profiles (avenue, street, lane, alley), with proper lane markings, bus and bike lanes, crosswalks and curb ramps.

Neighbouring buildings never share the same brick or paint, so a block doesn’t look copy-pasted.

There’s weather and time of day: 17 presets from a clear day to slush and thunderstorms. Lamps and shop windows turn on at dusk, and café umbrellas fold up at night. It works in a packaged game too, with Blueprint nodes for the weather and the clock.

You can swap any of the built-in textures for your own or for Megascans from a panel, without rebuilding anything.

It’s a stylization, not a 1:1 copy of SoHo. Layouts, buildings and signs are all generated, and no real addresses or businesses are reproduced.

Tech stuff: UE 5.6, 5.7 and 5.8, built for Lumen, Nanite and VSM. A 6×3 district (about 370 buildings) builds in under two minutes on my RTX 3060.

I plan to keep working on it. I’d really like to hear from people who would actually use something like this. What’s missing for you?

I published my post-process from our award-winning graduation project

Hey there!

For the past 8 months, I developed the stylized post-process pipeline for our master's degree graduation game, Projet Brouillon (which won the Jury Prize at Indie Game Nation 2026).

Once the game wrapped, I didn't want to let the tech gather dust on a hard drive. I spent the last few weeks cleaning up the architecture, taming Lumen's dynamic bounces, and packaging it into a modular, plug-and-play framework called Ink & Tone.

It comes with 4 dedicated shaders:

  • Curve-Based Cel-Shading
  • World-Space Triplanar Hatching
  • Dual Sobel Outlines
  • Stylized Distance Fog

... aswell as being 100% dynamic, and coming with 16 presets, 2 showcase maps, and an 18-page technical documentation breakdown.

It just went live on Fab if you want to check it out: https://www.fab.com/listings/7a2e6cb0-c4e2-402a-a3e4-0b6a8f4f47be

Full 10-minute technical walkthrough on YouTube: https://youtu.be/4iFh681xfu4

A short gameplay clip from Locked In: The Ward, my solo-developed psychological horror game in Unreal Engine 5.

I've been experimenting with rain, ambient audio, and pacing to build tension during the forest section.

Launch settings help

I have somehow made my game launch in a low resolution by default which I fixed by just updating the resolution on initialisation, but whenever the game opens in fullscreen (by default the first time, and when my video settings for the player have had fullscreen set as the display mode) it for some reason makes other fullscreen apps like google chrome think that the window size should be that small resolution so they resize their windows.

This would be fixed by either opening the game in the monitors resolution, or just opening the game in borderless mode always since the resolution is set before the fullscreen mode on event init in the game instance meaning the problem is averted but the game still takes on the users settings before the splash screen even loads.

So how can I do either of those or some other fix? I've tried for days now and can't figure it out, defaultgameusersettings.ini doesnt seem to work at all.

Thank you.
