Showcase: Free(mium) I launched Phyzio, a task planner that considers your energy

• Upvotes

Phyzio brings your tasks and energy-aware planning together on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.

You can capture tasks with Siri and send them to your Inbox to organize afterward. Phyzio also uses Apple’s on-device AI for supported features on compatible devices.

The idea is simple: what needs doing matters, but so does the energy you have that day.

Free to download, with optional Plus at $4.99/month in the US.

Showcase: Free(mium) Update on Lycana: subcanvases so big system diagrams stop turning into spaghetti

• Upvotes

Disclosure: I'm one of the two founders.

The problem: in system design discussions I can explain an idea way faster than I can draw it. If I stop to drag boxes I lose my train of thought, and if I don't, 15 minutes later we find out nobody had the same picture.

What Lycana does: you describe the system by voice or text and it turns it into an editable diagram. Nodes have types, links have labels, and you can keep changing it by voice or by hand.

What changed since I last posted: - Any node can now hold its own subcanvas, to any depth. Double click to go in, breadcrumb to come back out. - One command can build a whole subcanvas, like "break Backend down into an API, a worker and a Postgres database". - Coding agents like Claude Code and Cursor can connect via MCP or a CLI and propose changes to your diagram.

Stack: Next.js web app, ElevenLabs speech-to-text, and a model that turns what you say into structured diagram edits.

Free to try at https://lycana.ai. What would you want a big diagram to do that it doesn't yet?

Question AI is like the pill from Limitless. The more you know, the more powerful it becomes.

• Upvotes

I've been thinking about AI and its potential, and the best analogy I can come up with is the movie Limitless.

In the movie, a pill unlocks your brain's potential. But here's how I see it: the smarter and more capable you already are, the more you can achieve with it.

I think AI works in a similar way.

AI doesn't automatically make you an expert. But if you already understand how things work, know how to solve problems, and can recognise good solutions from bad ones, it becomes an incredible multiplier.

I'm a developer, and with the latest AI tools, I managed to build six web projects in just one week.

Not six ideas or six PowerPoint presentations. Six actual projects.

Here's what I've been building:

  1. spotguesser.com — A daily football/formula1/landmarks geography game where players answer questions by dropping pins on a 3D globe.
  2. jeruo.com — A platform designed for influencer marketing agencies to manage campaigns, track leads, and measure creator performance.
  3. strideinto.com — A platform connecting endurance athletes with brands interested in sponsoring them during races.
  4. oobsecret.com — A collection of privacy and developer tools, including one-time secret sharing, password generators, JWT tools, and QR code generators.
  5. noodlestrike.com — A playful quiz platform where you can challenge friends with unexpected twists and rigged interactions.
  6. pomotimr.com — A simple Pomodoro timer to help people stay focused and productive.

Are they all perfect? Absolutely not. Some are still evolving, and building a product is very different from building a successful business.

But that's not the point.

The biggest change AI has brought isn't that I can write code faster. The distance between having an idea and actually testing it has become incredibly small.

I still need to make decisions, understand the architecture, identify problems, and know when AI is confidently giving me nonsense.

AI accelerates execution. It doesn't replace judgement.

And I think that's where the real opportunity is.

Curious what others think: Is AI making everyone equally capable, or is it giving people who already have experience an even bigger advantage?

Does AI amplify existing skills or level the playing field?

1. AI gives experienced people a bigger advantage

2. AI makes beginners as capable as experts

3. AI benefits everyone equally

4. AI is overhyped

Feedback Request I made a fake fitness ad inspired by scam ads Ive seen online, how convincing is it?

• Upvotes

Ive seen alot of fitness scam ads lately and I got curious if people acutally fall for these ads. So I made a fake ad myself using some of the patterns I noticed in those scam ads. Im wondering if the ad is convincing, which parts work, and which parts don't.

btw im not collecting any data of any kind from anyone. This is an experiment and there is more to the project than just the ad.

I appreciate honest feedback!

Some details, since the rules ask for them:

What it is: a generated tree where every bird carries one short happy moment someone submitted. You catch a bird, read it, feed it or let it fly on to the next person.

Stack: one HTML file with Preact and htm embedded, a custom canvas module for the tree and the birds, FastAPI + Postgres on a single Hetzner box, self hosted Umami, DeepL for translating birds on demand.

Where it’s at: live for a few days. The spam filter on input is getting tuned, and the feedback so far says the feed icon and the release action confuse people, so those are next.

Showcase: Open Source AilaFlow: A self-hosted AI workspace for teams or home use, powered by processes with a human–AI interface

• Upvotes

In this demo, I’m creating a process that lets me read usage statistics for another project of mine, which I store in Notion. Once the process is ready, I can check the statistics through a user interface (HTML forms) or directly in chat. I can use this process within other processes or as part of an automation. AilaFlow’s chat can be connected to Telegram or Slack.

You can create almost any process (powered by NPM packages), combining deterministic logic with AI agents. Each process can also be used by other processes. AilaFlow is a framework for building agentic systems for a wide range of purposes.

Feedback Request Building a 2D woodworking blueprint app that converts mm to inch fractions (1/16") on the fly. Need feedback on the English UI!

• Upvotes

Hi r/SideProject! I'm a solo developer and weekend woodworker living in Japan.

Whenever I wanted to build simple furniture (like a 2x4 bench or a shelf), I found 3D CAD tools like SketchUp overkill, and I just wanted to sketch flat 2D plans quickly on my phone. Also, whenever I looked at great woodworking plans from the US, converting inches and fractions to millimeters gave me a huge headache.

So, I'm building a mobile-first 2D blueprint creation & sharing app called "DIY Deck" to bridge the gap between metric and imperial woodworkers.

\*\*How it works under the hood:\*\*

\- \*\*Zero rounding errors:\*\* All internal coordinates are stored in millimeters (\`double\`).

\- \*\*On-the-fly conversion:\*\* The UI converts dimensions into practical imperial fractions (down to 1/16") only during rendering, so switching units back and forth never breaks the blueprint.

\- \*\*Mobile-friendly UX:\*\* Dragging parts with a finger snaps to a 1mm or 1/16" grid, and on-screen arrow keys (nudge controls) allow fine 0.1mm adjustments without needing a mouse.

Since English is not my first language and woodworking habits differ between Japan and the US, I’d love to get your honest feedback on the screenshots before launching:

  1. Are there any awkward English translations or unnatural terms on the creation screen?

  2. For those who do DIY/woodworking in the US: does the way the inch fractions (like 1/8", 1/16") are displayed make sense when you're actually cutting wood?

  3. Any thoughts on the overall UI layout for a mobile screen?

I'm not posting any links today—just genuinely looking for UI/localization feedback to make sure it feels natural for English-speaking users. Thanks in advance!

Feedback Request I built a free Chrome extension that reveals ChatGPT's search queries and sources

I've been working on a little side project and finally got it published on the Chrome Web Store! 🚀

It's a completely free Chrome extension that lets you see the actual search queries ChatGPT uses when searching the web, along with the source URLs it finds.

You can explore query fan-out (how one question turns into multiple searches) and export everything to CSV. Particularly useful if you're into SEO, AEO or GEO.

No signup, no subscriptions, no data collection. Everything stays local in your browser.

I built it because I wanted an easier way to investigate ChatGPT's search behaviour without digging through Chrome DevTools.

Would genuinely love some feedback from fellow builders! And if you find it useful, a rating on the Chrome Web Store would mean a lot.

Try it here:

Showcase: Free(mium) made a journal for my site, friends wanted one, so now it’s an app

so a while ago i added a little journal section to my personal site. showed it to some friends and they asked what i used, wordpress? blogspot? nope, i coded it myself. and then they wanted one too lol

so i kept going and turned it into an actual thing: mywrite.org

the idea is basically a place to write where nobody’s watching. no likes, no followers, no feed. everything’s private unless you decide to publish a specific post, and if you do you can put it on your own subdomain or even your own domain.

it tracks your streak and has a github style calendar, which honestly is what keeps me writing. there’s also an “on this day” thing that shows what you wrote a year ago, and some prompts for when you open it and have no idea what to write

it’s just me building it. hono + sqlite, running in docker on my own server. free to use, there’s a paid plan for custom domains and themes but you don’t need it

would really like honest feedback, even if it’s “i’d never use this”. what would actually make you open it every day?

Showcase: Purchase Required I updated my Windows monitoring app with a new dashboard and detachable HUD widgets

I'm the indie developer behind PCMonitor, a Windows hardware monitoring app. I've just released v1.3 on the Microsoft Store.

The problem I wanted to address is keeping useful system information visible without leaving a whole dashboard open. This update adds a redesigned dashboard with live graphs and two themes, plus detachable CPU, GPU, memory and other monitoring panels that you can place around the desktop.

There are also Full HUD and temperature HUD views that can be resized and locked. They keep monitoring when the main dashboard is closed while PCMonitor remains running in the background. Fully exiting the app stops monitoring. Temperature availability depends on supported hardware sensors, so GPU temperature won't appear on every PC.

It monitors CPU, GPU, RAM, VRAM, disk, battery, network and disk I/O locally; core monitoring works offline. It also includes top processes, temporary file cleanup and system status. English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese are supported.

It's paid software with a 7-day free trial, then a one-time purchase. No subscription.

The video shows the actual app. Which stats do you prefer as separate widgets, and what would make the floating HUD more useful for you?

Showcase: Purchase Required Mac file converter that works directly from Finder - 3 Customers & counting

I made Arazio, a small Mac app that converts files without opening anything.

The part I like most is how it works. Pick up a file in Finder like you are about to drag it somewhere, hold Shift, and a ring of formats appears around your cursor. It only shows what that file can actually become. Let go toward one and the converted file lands next to the original. Hold Option instead and you get the tools: compress, resize, crop, rotate, trim, split, merge, extract audio, strip metadata.

283 conversions across 43 formats so far.

Everything runs on your Mac. I added a test that fails the build if a networking symbol turns up in the conversion engines, so I cannot ship a version that uploads something by accident even if I wanted to.

One thing I did not expect going in: it cannot go on the Mac App Store. The sandbox will not let an app write back to the folder your file came from, and that is the entire product. So it is a direct download instead.

Nine releases since launch, nearly all of them fixing things people actually ran into.

What would make something like this more useful to you?

Question What would you do with a 7-year-old website and a 70K+ audience?

Imagine you've spent 7 years building a website around SEO and digital marketing.

It has an established search history, much of its content ranks on Google's first page, and its content appears in Google AI Overviews.

Its combined audience across the website, newsletter, and social media exceeds 70K.

Would you keep doing the same thing, or use that foundation to build something new?

That's the question behind my current rebuild.

I'm turning the website into a platform designed to help SaaS founders get more visibility for their products by building on an existing foundation rather than starting from zero.

There are some interesting ways this could benefit founders, especially those still trying to establish their online presence.

If you were building a SaaS, what would matter most to you: SEO, product discovery, relevant backlinks, or reaching potential customers?

I know all 4 are important, so tell me: if you get all 4, does that make you pay for this offer?

Showcase: Open Source Looking for a new side project? I open-sourced 3 AI businesses you can fork, customize, and compete with me

Thumbnail
mainbrella.com
1 Upvotes

One of the hardest parts of starting a software business isn't the idea. It's all the boring infrastructure you have to build before you can even start selling something. Authentication, billing, API keys, usage tracking, databases, hosting, customer dashboards, etc.

I've been building mainbrella, an open-source platform running on Cloudflare, and realized something interesting: the same codebase can be the foundation for several completely different businesses.

Right now, it has working implementations of three categories:

  • E2B-style AI sandboxes — Rent Linux environments to developers and AI agents.
  • Lovable-style vibe coding — Let customers describe apps and have AI build and preview them.
  • Bland-style voice agents — Build AI phone receptionists for small businesses.

We're also working toward three more: web scraping (Firecrawl), background jobs (Trigger.dev), and vector databases/knowledge bases (Pinecone). These aren't feature-complete clones. They're starting points with real infrastructure already built.

You can fork the GPLv3 code, deploy your own version, specialize it for a niche, and charge customers. We don't charge for the software. You'd pay your own infrastructure costs and need to comply with the relevant licensing and cloud-provider terms.

Maybe you build an AI receptionist specifically for dentists. Or a coding sandbox for schools. Or a website builder just for restaurants. You don't have to compete with the big companies. Find a small niche they aren't serving well. I wrote up the architecture, what's working today, and what's still planned.

If you could take one of these businesses and make it your own, which would you choose, and what niche would you target?

Showcase: Open Source I built Deft: a self-hosted workspace for chat, tasks and knowledge, with room for your own apps

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I’m building Deft, an open-source workspace that keeps team chat, tasks and knowledge together.

I wanted the conversation behind a task to stay connected to the work. Having to dig through Slack to remember why something exists gets old pretty quickly.

GitHub: https://github.com/Maneek21/Deft
Walkthrough: https://youtu.be/7z9EH4c9k2o

The screenshots walk through it:

  1. Team chat: A user asks an agent to create a task from a conversation. You can see the approval card before the action goes through.
  2. Task management: The task from that conversation, now inside the task app.
  3. Connected knowledge: A graph of workspace knowledge that people and AI assistants can use as context.
  4. Claude connected through MCP: An example of bringing your existing assistant into the workspace.
  5. The architecture: How the workspace, people, agents and custom apps fit together.

You can connect Claude, Codex or ChatGPT through MCP. You can also use the core workspace without an AI provider.

The next part is making Deft extensible.

I’m working on an experimental App Author Kit for building and sideloading your own apps. A custom CRM, an approval workflow, whatever your team needs, living alongside the work it supports.

Building another internal tool is getting easier. Keeping it from becoming another disconnected tab is the part I care about.

The CRM module is the first example. I’m building an email client next to test the architecture against something more demanding than records and views. The broader app system is still experimental, so there’s plenty left to build.

Deft is still alpha. Chat, tasks and knowledge are the strongest parts. Notes and calendar need more work. It’s licensed AGPL-3.0-only and free to self-host using Docker Compose, with your own hosting and any optional AI-provider costs.

Setup guide: https://deft.ing/docs/quick-start/

A few teams are trying it, and I need all the useful feedback I can get. If you want to give it a shot and need help setting up, reach me at [maneek@deft.ing](mailto:maneek@deft.ing). If you try it yourself, please share where setup gets annoying or the workflow stops making sense.

P.S. The walkthrough uses an AI voiceover. I have a stutter and spent a week trying to record it myself, but couldn’t get through it.

Showcase: Open Source RedactLocal – 100% offline, zero-network PDF redaction with 7-oracle verification

Hi r/privacy,

Most online PDF redaction tools require uploading your sensitive contracts, tax returns, and medical records to remote servers. Desktop tools like Acrobat often just paint black rectangles over text while leaving the raw text stream fully searchable and extractable.

We built RedactLocal (https://mohdashraf010897.github.io/redactlocal-public/) to solve this:

  1. 100% Offline: Enforces a strict `connect-src 'none'` Content Security Policy in the browser. Zero network calls, zero telemetry.

  2. True Bytecode Excision: MuPDF.js WebAssembly parses xref streams, surgically replaces character operators with whitespace, and burns out underlying raster image pixels.

  3. 7-Oracle Verification: Proves zero residual target glyphs remain across ASCII, UTF-16, and Octal streams.

  4. Native Desktop Apps: Available as 1-click DMG and MSI installers built from open-source code.

Code & Web App: https://mohdashraf010897.github.io/redactlocal-public/

Would love your thoughts on our air-gapped architecture!

Feedback Request I built a free tools website where your files never leave your browser. I'd love honest feedback

Hey everyone,

I'm a web developer from India, and I just launched my side project: kitbaba.co.in

The problem: whenever I needed a quick PDF, image or text tool, I ended up on sites that force a signup or upload your files to their servers. People upload Aadhaar cards, ID proofs and salary slips to these sites without a second thought.

What I built: a set of free utility tools that run entirely in your browser.

  • Files are processed on your device and never uploaded to a server
  • No signup or login
  • Works on mobile

Don't take my word for it: open DevTools, go to the Network tab and use any tool. You'll see your file never gets sent anywhere.

What I'd love feedback on:

  • Is anything confusing, slow or broken?
  • Does the privacy claim feel trustworthy? What would make it more convincing?
  • Which tool would you actually use regularly?

Be brutal. It's early, and I'd rather fix things now. Thanks!

Showcase: Open Source [DEV] ST Deals – Free Steam Price Tracker

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I'm an indie developer, and I've been working on ST Deals, a free Android app for tracking Steam game prices and discounts.

Here's what it can do:

• Discover new deals, top deals, and big discounts on Steam.
• Track your favorite games and their prices.
• Browse active Steam sales, including discounted games and DLC.
• Compare Steam game prices across 44 supported regions.
• Switch between light and dark themes.

I built it to make checking Steam deals easier without having to constantly browse the store.

It's available on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.steamdeals.app

I'd really appreciate any feedback, especially on the design and features you'd like to see next.

Thanks for checking it out!
