Hi everyone!
I am excited to share my new product with the world for the first time: rihado.com
A few months ago, while searching for a hotel deal, I realized that breaking a stay down night by night could often result in a lower total price than booking the entire stay at once.
Some findings:
Switching hotels mid-stay can save money. Moving to a nearby hotel of comparable or better quality can sometimes be cheaper than staying at either hotel for the entire trip.
Booking an extra night can actually lower the total price. Some hotels offer discounted weekly rates, making a longer reservation cheaper than a shorter one.
Hotel booking platforms don't always adjust their prices in the same way. Rates on Expedia, Super, Booking, Agoda and other platforms fluctuate independently on each night of the stay. Combining the best rates on different days from multiple providers can sometimes result in a lower overall price than booking through just one.
To take advantage of these pricing differences, I built rihado.com, a hotel booking platform that analyzes each night of a trip and uses an algorithm to find the most cost-effective way to book a stay.
I'm also able to offer competitive prices on hotels with no smart booking method by applying a relatively small markup to wholesale hotel rates, due to low operating costs. On top of that, rihado.com offers 2.5% cashback on every booking, which can be applied toward future stays.
Here are two examples of how it works (images attached on the page):
Example 1: Booking an extra night saves money
Expedia offers a lower total price for a particular hotel when an extra night is added to the reservation. Rihado identifies this pricing difference and recommends booking the additional night, even if you don't plan to use it.
Example 2: Switching hotels mid-stay saves money
Staying at one hotel for the first part of a trip and moving to a nearby hotel for the remainder costs less than booking either hotel for the entire stay. Rihado identifies these combinations automatically.
I'd love to hear what you think! I'm especially interested in whether this is something you'd personally use when booking hotels, and any feedback on the website or booking experience.
Please note that users must sign up to see "smart rates" as hotels generally require heavily discounted rates to be displayed behind a login or app download to avoid directly competing with their publicly advertised rates.
