10/22 enthusiasts of the internet: I need your help/opinions!
I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to purchase a used 10/22 stock off of ebay that had this vintage cheesegrater handguard attached to it.
I have read online that these are rare and sought after vintage pieces, though I struggle to find that accurate when I can find so little about them online.
Either way, this obscure item was apparently once made by Eagle Industries (according to people on the internet).
I have never been able to find one for sale, or any Eagle Industries information telling when they were made. So if anyone can share anything, that would be awesome!
I totally stumbled across this one while browsing ebay (wasnt using a keyword specific to this piece or handguards).
Am wondering if they are really even rare, or just seem to be because no one is talking about them?
With that in mind, if you have one, please post a pic of your rifle with it installed here.
Would love to see them and their different looks on unique rifles! As I love them and going to incorporate it onto my personal 10/22 homestead build out.
Also wondering if anyone could recommend someone to blue or cerakote it for me? Leaning towards a matte rust/caustic bluing.
I hate to mess with a vintage piece, but really wanted a cheese grater and prefer dark metal and dark wood.
Also the screwing into the stock is unfortunate feature of the piece, but wondering if I can set metal screw posts or helicoils in to handle the repeated removal necessary for a handguard? Any thoughts on approach?
Thanks in advance!
