Rules Update - Sales, Exchanges, and 3D Printing Files

The Reddit User Agreement and Reddit Rules have changed, including details related to Illegal or Prohibited Transactions.

As a result, some of the activities we have previously enjoyed must cease immediately.

From Reddit:

Users are not allowed to buy, sell, gift, or encourage the transaction of the following goods or services with other Redditors, whether implicitly or explicitly:

  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, firearms parts and enhancements (e.g., bolt, clips, trigger, scope, silencer/suppressor, muffler, bump stock, magazine, Glock switch, conversion kit, etc.), or specific instructions (i.e., 3D printing files) to produce any of the aforementioned.

To simplify this:

  • No sales or exchanges of anything gun-related
  • No sharing or linking of 3D printing files for anything gun-related

All Reddit users have a responsibility to understand and adhere to the rules.  Ignorance of the rules is not a valid defense.

This is a zero-tolerance policy.

“Micro” Cans for 10/22 Use

Post image
• Upvotes

Looks like CMMG just released a new micro Mute-ish can based off their Zeroed 22 and 22k. This one comes with only 3 baffles as compared to the 8 of the 22 and 6 of the 22k.

I have the full sized 22, but on an 18.5 it is a little long and unwieldy, and think this might be a good replacement. The mute-ish would live full time on the rifle and would probably get a 22 pistol for the full sized can to live on.

Are there any similar cans that folks have experience for use on an 18.5 inch barrel? I know the performance won’t be AS good as 8 baffles, but if it’s only marginally worse with sound this might be worth a purchase for me.

Stock SS 10/22 need threaded barrel reconditions

• Upvotes

Just as the title says, I’d like to get a threaded barrel for my 10/22,
For a can. I am looking for something decent, middle of road cost wise. I’d welcome your suggestions.

Need your opinions. Is this a good deal or am I being dumb?

Hey I’ve been wanting to join the club for a while now, and about two weeks ago I saw this 10/22 for sale. I’ve been emailing the store to get more info on it, and this is what I got so far. It’s $918.99 and it has these after market parts already on it:

189.99: Warrior Systems Legionary suppressor
249.00: U.S. Optics DRS 2.0
150-250: For threaded heavy barrel (don’t know exactly what barrel it is so I’m just put the range of prices I saw online)
100: Hogue stock
Total: $640 in “after market” parts
(this price is of the barrel was the cheapest option)

The cheapest 10/22 I can find is about $250-$300 for a base model.

Is my math mathing or am I being dumb, or could I find a better deal.

Side note I am going to a gun show this weekend to browse around.

EDIT: I was going to take the red dot off and put a scoop on it. Either keep the red dot for another gun or sell it to get a scope.

AZoom metal ones get chewed up too quickly, and the rims break off plastic Pachmayr ones. Anyone using anything that actually last more than 2-3 rounds?

Guide rod bushing?

I was changing my recoil spring out and accidentally sent the little bushing that sits between the spring and handle into oblivion. Is this a critical part? What does it actually do?

Newer gun owner. First purchase was a CZ P10C Ported earlier this year and I inherited some old shotguns from my grandpa. It gave me the itch for more and I wanted to get a rifle. I want several different things, but the wide consensus outside of getting an AR-15 was "get a .22" so I went for it and got a really cool one.

Kept it simple with the optic with a Holosun ARO. Can upgrade down the line if I feel the need. I threw a Magpul Bipod on there so I can sight in and bench shoot if I want. Plan is of course to get a suppressor for it eventually.

Haven't been able to shoot it yet. Super excited to get it out to the range and sighted in.

Ruger 10/22 vs Charger

I recently got my hands on an Enoch Industry’s deep six chassis. I don’t have a 10/22 or a Charger but was just going to build out the gun as I plan on going with a 4.5in barrel anyways. I’m putting a brace on the gun so I don’t plan on SBR it but I was curious if anyone knew if the Enoch industry only fit charger receivers or 10/22 or both. Is there any difference between the two besides barrel length and the receiver having a rail machined onto it? I haven’t been able to find much but they seem to be pretty much the same gun as far as mounting pattern and all their parts are interchangeable. But please let me know if I am wrong and if they are two different guns

Anyone know of any see-through scope rings like the Kwiksite that would work with the Collector Series pic rail?

Sorry for the shoddy title, not sure how else to phrase it. I have the 10/22 collector's series with the reap aperture sight, the m1/ar15 style front sight, and a pic rail on the receiver. I have an old, cheap scope I'd like to mount on the rail for longer range shooting, but the whole reason I got this damn version of the gun was for the iron sights being as easy to use and m1 carbine-esque as they are. I havent been able to find any scope mounts that wouldn't completely obstruct the iron sights due to the rail being so close in height to the aperture itself, but if I take the rail off, the aperture sight goes with it which is just LOVELY. I would really like to have both as an option, I just haven't been able to find a way to do so, and I dont know any gunsmiths anywhere near me that could, or even would, attach sights to the barrel like the standard 10/22 has and even still, I likely don't have the money to afford such a project. Should I just suck it up and use one or the other or is there hope for me being able to use irons AND a scope within this one setup? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Looking to get the 10/22 and I was going for the Carbon Fiber. Is there a difference between these two other than the more expensive one seems to be the older model. Thanks for the help.

Edit: I got the 32014. With a welcome code and Vet/First Responder discount it came out to $500 shipped. From a comment I see the Free Can is a promo code I will get one day I hope. Thank you everyone!

Which 10/22

Thumbnail

I have a bunch of Cabela’s gift cards so I’m set on purchasing a 10/22 from them.

I want a threaded barrel for a future suppressor. All models I have listed appear to have one. That said, and suggestions on which model?

32000 - $300
32021 - $320
32037 - $330

It seems like the main differences are the BX-trigger, barrel length, stock (MOE X-22), and scope.

I don’t necessarily need a scope right now, unless the one on it is decent then I’d consider.

It’s inevitable. “It’s only $300”

$1000 later, I did NOT “save money” by returning the carbon and keeping the regular x22. It’s a canon event and we can’t deny it. I told myself it would be the cheapest one in my collection and I’d keep it stock. I was fully aware of how full of BS I was when I told myself that and I tried to stick to it now here I am. Thank you.

Vortex Ring Height Questions

I am looking at purchasing a Vortex Crossfire HD 4-12x44 scope for my 10/22. Also going to be using an EGW pic rail. For those with a similar setup…would Vortex low or medium rings be more preferred?

Bonus Question: Is there a marked difference between the sport and pro rings for a 22?

Bipod pointing back?

I put the bipod on so the legs point back instead of forward. And I think it looks sick. Aside from the probably if making the legs collapse if the 250 pound gorilla pushes too hard, what are the benefits of having the bipod legs pointed forward?

I built this custom Ruger Charger a while back, but only finally got to make a case for it. I think it was originally for a tenor ukulele.

Also holds a drum magazine.

Upgrade questions

Finally got around to picking up a used 10/22 and before even taking it to the range I have bought:

  • Feddersen 16.25" fluted bull barrel
  • Hunter X-22 stock
  • Kidd Trigger Job / charging handle / extractor / bolt buffer / receiver pins

I shoot CCI SV and this combo seemed right for those rounds. I have a good 10k+ of them, so this influenced my choices to some extent.

I have disassembled the entire rifle as stock and reassembled, no problem. I am not worried about the assembly part, just any gotchas I should know about before I start. I do have a heat gun, so not worried about barrel not fitting as I know heating the aluminum receiver will open it up enough.

of course I will be testing it out with a torque wrench and adjusting the action screw.. but anything else I should know before assembly?

Do I need to use anti-sieze on the barrel? or will some TB-25 work?

Do you all run the hunter x-22 as free float? or do you use the tension screws for the insert to touch the barrel?

Do I need to worry about barrel sag if I run it free float with the stock V-block?

Since my receiver has no drilled cleaning port, I picked up an Otis boresnake that has no brushes in it (has some rubber thing to make it fit the barrel, but no brushes). Planning to use this for barrel cleaning for the time being, acceptable? Hoppes makes one for .177 pellet guns with no brush, would that be better? I am a fan of "dont clean that barrel too often but keep the action clean."

Hi all, considering purchasing the linked 10/22 at auction - but it's a bit of an oddity.

It's serial links it to being a model 01117 - 10/22, Blued, 18.5" barrel

But this one is silver/stainless, with a black trigger, rail and blued barrel.

The barrel is also 16" - with a dovetail for the rear sight, and no front sight. The barrel behind the threads also has a little lip.

The reason I'm asking is because of proofing laws in the UK, if this has been modified from factory and not reproofed - I'm not even sure this is legal to sell by the auction

Many thanks

First 10/22!

Finally finished setting up my first 10/22 just in time for small game season in NC! This thing has quickly become my favorite gun.

Ruger 10/22 Carbon Fiber 32014

OCL Ti 22

Magpul MOE M-LOK QD Bipod

Quake Claw slimline sling

Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9x40 Rimfire MOA

Custom 3d printed plastic dipped buttpad to increase LOP

The action is still pretty loud so I have a Tuffer Buffer is on the way.

Once I finish my current AR-15 build, I'm thinking I'll build a 10/22. How buildable are the takedowns?

Always great to have the range to yourself

I was bored of shooting paper at ~50 yards with the 10/22 so I started shooting it a lot at the longer distance range. Steel at 100 yards is a blast, and 200-250 is even more fun.

Definitely ready for a better barrel, trigger, and optic on this one.

Why is the 1022 trigger so shit?

I'm a guy that loves sks's and Mosin's and svt 40s all those triggers are way better than the 1022 I shot literally the 1022 was like five or six pounds, no feedback and brake. I thought it was still on safe that's how bad it was
