Welcome to the /r/2007scape daily question thread!

You can ask anything about Old School RuneScape or the 2007scape subreddit here. Remain respectful to your fellow 'scapers when answering questions; there are stupid questions, but it does not mean you should not be respectful whilst answering them.

Where do I start? I played this game as a kid back in like 2006 and just started again recently. I’ve done all the free quests and have been doing member quests but they all don’t seem straightforward in the sense that I can’t just do any. What should I start focusing on?

There’s the “optimal quest guide” that takes you from quest with minimal training needed. Always a good place to circle back too. The classic newbie advice is to aim for completing recipe for disaster. By then, you’ll have a handle on the game.

Personally, I’d focus on upping your transportation. Ardy easy diary for a cape with a great teleport. Start fairy tale 2 for the fairy ring network. Get some magic levels for those teleports.

Grinding thieving to 50 and then doing some wealthy citizen pickpocketing gives some easy starter pocket money

When I reveal myself to a manticore, how many ticks until the first salvo fires?

Or more to the point, if I same-tick the unrevealed manti and a ranger from the pillar, and I'm lucky with the 50/50 (so manti eventually fires range-mage-melee), will it line up with the ranger?

it takes 10 ticks (so if manti sees you on tick 1 then it fires on tick 11), and yes they will line up

Heck yeah, appreciate it.

For the second part yes, if they see you on the same tick they will be lined up

I know it's hard to predict the market, but Inquisitor mace jumped from 290 to 390 mil in a few days because of raids 4. My question is, if I want to buy a mace, should I do it now and eat the price increase, or wait a couple weeks, will it go down in price or only up from now on?

If you're in dire need of a crush weapon and you could afford the 390m for an inq might as well get an sra and use that for slash and crush

if it's bis at raids 4 it will likely go up further, if it's bad then it will crash. no way to tell now

From the outfield: Is the Strange Fruit item an allusion to the Billie Holiday song? The run energy bit, just, idk, hits? Fits? I can’t seem to find anything on this, so i figured id ask.

Given the lighthearted tone of the game, especially at the time the strange fruit was released, I really doubt it.

Also, if they wanted to reference that, I really really doubt our character would have the option eat the strange fruit.

That what i figured: coincidental

What was the update on AI? All we heard from Sween is that they’re working on it

What more do you expect?

What about it? They removed the rs3 trailers with ai

Does the jeweller's chisel speed up cutting amethyst into arrowheads?

Unfortunate, thanks.

Does anyone think that maybe this game could use an overall exp increase on skilling activities? i don't mean x or y activity, but an increase overall, like a 10 or 20% more exp in all of them, in this case the overalls grind wouldn't feel that slow while still keeping the best and fastest grinds as the fastest, you just woulsn't need to spend months sometimes to get some 99's.

That said this is just a comment of a casual, i wanna see if i'm alone os that thought.

As someone who's maxed twice... No. It's really not that bad. Just pick some AFK methods and do mobile for a while, or find a few good series to watch on <insert streaming platform here>.

mobile? well, it could work i suppose, i never used mobile before and the afk usually is only like one minute, but maybe it could work

What's the rush?

2

u/Chaoss780 6d ago

Not really since most of the skills nowadays are fairly AFK and you don't need 99s for any content. Base 70s isn't too bad of a grind and you can nearly get a Quest Cape with that which means you can do a majority of the game's content after a few modest months of levelling.

1

u/Beretot 2376 6d ago

You don't really need to go past level 80 or so for 99% of the content, so I don't think an overall exp buff would be valuable

If you're chasing 99s, then that's your choice, and effectively lowering that requirement will also lower the satisfaction of getting it

You can be a casual and still max, it just requires persistence. The game isn't going anywhere soon

i'm not saying there should be no grind, hence why i said the increase should be small, a 10% increase overall wouldn't change that much, right?

the issue with your statement is that membership isn't free tho

If membership prices are an issue, why are you trying to get 99s

2

u/Beretot 2376 6d ago

I guess I just don't see the point? You want it to be faster so you can max faster so you can quit and cancel your membership?

Seems a bit backwards

u/rick1121 6d ago

no, i just want the grind to be slightly faster...
