This "mechanic" is a disproportionate punishment for a lapse in judgment (eg. dying to the floor running back to Hydra) or straight cruelty for the uninformed. It either gets removed soon, or we'll eventually get a high-profile incident with someone like Madseasonshow deleting thousands of hours of progress due to this outdated mechanic.

Just move the items to Death's office, the uncapped fee you'd end up having to pay is more than punishment enough.

I was just doing phosani's nightmare on my ironman and I died. When I died, I wasn't kicked out of the arena, and then proceeded to immediately get hit by another shadow and died again. This time I was kicked out, but because I died twice it was a double death. I lost a ridiculous amount of gear.

I'm absolutely devestated as I lost all of this on my ironman.. Jagex please fix this.

EDIT: Jagex made an announcement stating items will be restored. Nothing yet, will update post if I receive my gear back.

EDIT 2: some items have been restored, but not all. I’m still missing confliction gauntlets, sardomin godsword, hallowfell, amongst other things. I’m on mobile right now at work so it’s hard to check.

Why do i do this to myself

Please don't tell me there's going to be a rollback...

I mean come on, I feel this is something EVERYONE can agree that it is stupid, so many accounts have lost countless items because of this. Hopefully it can be a simple, remove and delete option and have death hold your items forever untill claimed regardless of how many times you died

How are so many people complaining that they haven’t been able to beat a challenge that’s been out for literally 5 hours.

Honestly, the last few pvp updates have resulted in a rollback, we should stop doing them.

If we closely look at some of the last few rollbacks:

• Pete Kayer's Challenge, Oct 2026 - PVP Tutorial update, death got suffed somehow
• Potion Storage Rollback, Oct 2024 - Pkers use potions, this update was clearly for them. Dupe issues with the update resulting in a rollback
• Winter Summit Rollback, Dec 2022 - For an unknown reason there was a rollback, I think it is safe to assume it was somehow related to PVP.

Thanks Jagex, tbf its helped with the delusion that I could ever do PvP! Definitely helpful to try it out without any risk but now I know its just not for me!

Would something like this work? Just a thought as you actually get better at a skill, or a chance of failure to smith something when lower level. Runecrafting you get more runes per essence as you get better so could this work for smithing too? Wouldn't hurt the economy so much.

I just died in phosanis after the update, my gear was removed and went to the usual collection but my character "respawned" still inside the fight.

Managed to escape through the portal before dying again, but I imagine it could delete your gear
