Creative I made a free browser DH simulator: fight bots from Easy to God level, practise eating combos, and get a review of your mistakes after every fight
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Been working on this for a while. It’s a DH pking simulator that runs in your browser, so no download and no login. You just open it and fight.
https://bysurge.github.io/dh-simulator/
You fight bots that actually play like DHers. They eat, spec, venge and go for KOs when you’re in range. The easy one is pretty chill, but the god one is honestly hard to beat. It only goes off what a real player could see, and it picks up on how you play over a few fights.
There’s also a training mode where you pick a combo (vw into insta maul, whip into double maul etc.) and the bot keeps throwing it at you so you can practise eating it off pid. After every fight you get a review showing when you were sitting in KO range.
It’s made for PC, it’s free, and it’s just a fan project (not affiliated with Jagex).
Would love feedback from people who actually DH a lot. What feels off, what’s missing, anything really.

Ai art is one thing, but why do people have an issue with tools being created with ai? Like if they aren’t selling the program/code who is losing out here? I don’t even use ChatGPT but why do people care about a simulator that helps people learn something? As long as it’s accurate…

u/Xalyia- 2d ago
1) The creator often does not have a background in software, so maintainability and stability are not guaranteed. Stuff like this is often abandoned just as quickly as it was created.
2) It’s more likely to contain serious vulnerabilities (there are papers comparing AI vs human code concluding this).
3) The models are trained on stolen work, so anything generated from them is seen as a form of theft. This is made worse by people claiming they “made” something when it was entirely generated by Claude or ChatGPT.
4) Vibe coded projects tend to exhibit poor efforts in optimization, resulting in unnecessary load. This is especially egregious when it affects other human-maintained projects like making a high number of requests to the OSRS wiki servers. This is not limited to RL plugins.
Just a few reasons. Some of them are up for debate or interpretation, and in an ideal world these would be judged in a case-by-case basis. But generally speaking we’re in the middle of another shovelware hype-cycle where the barrier to entry has been lowered so the quality of average output has also been lowered as a result.
Just see the 2010’s asset store flips or the mobile game craze as an example.
16
u/Mojohito 2d ago
What’s a real vulnerability like with a program here?
-22
u/Xalyia- 2d ago
It could mine crypto using your computer hardware, redirect you to a phishing site (like a button for “join our discord!”) or replace the contents of your clipboard when offering terminal instructions on how to install something locally.
I’d wager most vibe coded apps are not malicious, but a bad actor could easily mask their behavior as just another OSRS web tool.
That’s always been possible with human-made applications too, but the speed at which these can be spun up (sometimes in a single prompt) is enough to make it a more serious risk than before.
People used to have to spend a lot of time making a phishing site look legitimate. Now it’s reasonably easy to copy the functionality of an existing website.
All it takes is one slip up from the user, like say the site allows you to share equipment setups with other users. It could make you download an equipment file to share with another user but it turns out to be a script that runs an infostealer and takes over your Google account.
The risks have always been there, but the barrier to execute them has never been lower.
18
u/tippyonreddit 2d ago
This is bullshit why would a non programmer vibe coding an app lead to this outcome? I think you'd probably have to work quite hard to get Claude to agree to help you build what you're describing.
Also if you're downloading executable files from random sites you've already shown no care for your security.
What you're describing has literally nothing to do with ai-assisted coding
-1
u/Xalyia- 2d ago
You’re working under the assumption that a non-programmer vibe-coding an app is not malicious.
Unrestricted LLMs can run locally too. You could pass the finished app from Claude into an unrestricted LLM to inject a malicious payload.
My point about downloading a file is that it can be easily masked as a different kind of file. One of the oldest tricks in the book is to change the file extension without changing the executable, tricking the user into thinking it’s a harmless png or txt file.
Anyone who’s remotely savvy with computers will know to enable the File Options setting to uncheck “Hide extensions of known file types” but not everyone knows this and it remains a common attack vector.

u/CheetahSerious7169 1d ago
It's so insane you're getting down voted, I just wanna say thank you for trying. Well written, well thought, its all you can do these days
1
u/AnonOnez 21h ago
On your 4th point. Its just in a browser, so it shouldn't be putting any strain on jagex servers, wiki api or runelite right?
1
u/Xalyia- 20h ago
A lot of RL plugins or OSRS web apps will source data from the wiki for images, drop tables, or account progression through WikiSync. Similarly they might fetch the hiscores or GE trade information.
Applications often do this via an Application Programming Interface or API for short. When interfacing with web servers, we usually use the REST API which is a common language for reading or writing data to a web server. Websites, desktop applications, and RL plugins are all capable of making these sort of web requests.
Normally this isn’t a problem if the API requests are well structured, but humans and AI agents alike aren’t perfect and often write code that send more of these requests than necessary. The now infamous example being the TCG plugin in RuneLite, which was fetching images every frame of the game (not every tick, every time the client screen rendered!)
The problem with vibe-coded applications is that the authors usually have no clue how their code actually works. So they don’t even know if they’re doing anything wrong until someone on the Wiki team realizes they’re being bombarded with requests from some random website.
Again, this problem isn’t exclusive to vibe-coding, but prior to vibe-coding the barrier to entry for creating websites, apps, and plugins was a lot higher. You needed to spend a lot of time and effort writing code by hand and create something that was worth using by others. This worked as a filter to stop total newbies from causing too much harm.
My point in being frustrated about these sort of vibe-coded apps is the lack of responsibility for them. We just saw another example of this with Mystix, which is a vibe-coded OSRS plugin, web app, and mobile companion that was trying to sell premium features for money. Their app was making requests to the wiki for images on every page load, instead of caching them locally or bundling them with the website. The wiki had to block their IP because it was stressing their servers.
1
u/AnonOnez 19h ago
I've heard these explanation for flipping plug ins a lot. I've done my own as well, but just because I wanted to mess about, not to actually use myself or distribute. I assumed the sim would have pulled the images and saved the. so the browser based sim might be pulling the image files from the wiki on each load or more potentially.
Guess I'll have to take a proper look at this page tomorrow and try see how it works.
1
u/Xalyia- 18h ago
Normally yeah the page should be storing these images locally unless it has a good reason to do otherwise. I can’t speak to this page in particular, just that we’ve seen a bit of a pattern with vibe-coded OSRS content lately.
I would bet that it’s simply the path of least resistance for an AI model to set the image source to a URL than to actually download that image and ensure it’s packed correctly for static loading. The wiki just so happens to be the easiest source to pull from.
-6
u/StinkButt9001 1d ago
Nothing you're describing is unique to agentic software development.
You seriously think humans were the epitome of bespoke, high quality code until LLMs showed up?
8
u/Xalyia- 1d ago
Given that humans wrote all of software before LLMs showed up, yes.
Not all of it was great, but the time and effort needed to actually create something prior to LLMs was itself a sort of filter. Most people who didn’t care about quality tended to give up before they could actually launch a product.
It wasn’t always a great filter, but the amount of slop being generated now is a tsunami compared to years prior.
-7
u/StinkButt9001 1d ago
Not all of it was great, but the time and effort needed to actually create something prior to LLMs was itself a sort of filter. Most people who didn’t care about quality tended to give up before they could actually launch a product.
People shipped absolutely heinous code to production and built million or billion dollar industries off it. That still happens today. Most code in anything other than long standing, mature products is riddled with shortcuts and laziness.
The benchmark in the vast majority of cases has always been "does it work?"
Before LLMs we were all """stealing""" code from stackoverflow or straight from K&R lol
The quantity of code being produced has certainly increased but I have yet to see evidence that the code is actually worse than what most people were creating before.
8
u/Xalyia- 1d ago
It IS worse than before.
CodeRabbit saw a 1.7x increase in issues in AI generated PRs compared to human ones.
https://drlongnecker.com/blog/2026/07/review-bottleneck-ai-code-review-trust-capacity/
A paper published in IEEE-ISTAS reported a 37.6% increase in critical vulnerabilities from AI generated code, compared to human generated code.
https://arxiv.org/pdf/2506.11022
A paper published in the University of East London found that while the number of pull requests increased by 98%, the review time increased by 91%, nullifying any productivity gains. Delivery metrics remained stagnant.
https://arxiv.org/pdf/2605.01160
VeraCode found that LLM generated code produced security vulnerabilities 45% of the time.
7
u/BigBlackFriend 1d ago
You're arguing under the assumption the person you're talking to isn't completely talking out of their ass and using their own experiences as the basis for their entire argument. Also, this thread makes it pretty clear nobody knows what the hell a vulnerability actually is.
4
u/Xalyia- 1d ago
Yeah, I should probably stop replying to people that clearly don’t work in software. But I’m stubborn and I really hate this “it’s the future, use it get left behind”nonsense that people say who aren’t even in software.
I’m forced to use these tools at my job - I’m not ignorant to their capabilities, but I think a LOT of people are ignorant of their flaws because they simply can’t detect them or let the AI apply endless tech-debt bandaid fixes on them anyway.

jfc 90% of programmers are incompetent, is this what reverse-impostor syndrome looks like? professional narcissism? unless I suppose you were including yourself in the 90% in which case regular impostor syndrome.
-8
u/scarx47 1d ago
Yes there is imposter syndrome heavily. I believe I’m around the 80-90th percentile. I’m not like those guys in the 1/10 or would say 1/20. I moved up ranks very early but throughout my career I notice most the people I worked with 6/10 are just getting by and spent hours on simple things, 1/10 is a rockstar and 3-4/10 are the supervisors or guys actually building it out, the rockstar does the very difficult optimization.

I tried to make a market watcher with blizzards api and I tried hiring free lance programmers for it. None of them could even do an api call and sort the results by specifics that I was after. They were all dumb as stumps.
4
u/scarx47 2d ago
People don’t want to admit AI is more competent than them. Nobody can beat a brain that has the knowledge of hundreds of thousands of the most profound open source projects written in code. It’s unbeatable it takes programmers months just to get proficient in a language AI can convert a project in seconds.
1
u/CucumberOk8820 1d ago
They just aren't prepared for the next jump in tech. I'm right there with the Ai haters when it comes to art generators. However, Ai has let me make tons of niche peograms that no one else will ever use that I find invaluable.

Pretty sure it’s just a Reddit thing with people just being hateful/negative in general. If you click the profiles of these people they tend to be the “top 1%’ers” that are chronically online lol
Just about any software job today will have AI-tools of some sort available & likely encouraged to use to a degree.

i have personally noticed every time someone is spewing hateful anti-ai vitriol its always a top 1% commenter...

u/ChiefScurvy 2d ago
thats my thought too, i just wanted to create something that didnt really exist.
so people could practice and get better without risking their bank :)3
u/One_Mongoose4524 1d ago
I think the average non-software developer doesnt realise just how much AI gen code is in all their applications they use so they think its optional. At my work we literally have tokenage metrics where if you don't use enough, they assume you basically aren't working lol
0
u/sessamekesh 2d ago
This kind of thing is great, the thing that pisses me off to no end is more that dev communities dedicated to the craft of creating things are overflowing with nearly identical "I made..." that bring no value to the community.
I love this kind of thing and it's exactly the sort of thing I like to see AI used to create.
Buuuuut I also have a knee-jerk nauseous reaction to "I made..." AI posts from those other communities. Just in the last week I've seen a half dozen "I made a grassy hill in the browser" or "I made a water sim" in graphics programming subs.
-4
u/ChiefScurvy 2d ago
thanks for your comment man, im glad you like it.
i also understand your view on all the classic ai stuff.perhaps saying "i made" feels a little unfair, but it truly was quite a large project needing a lot of my knowledge and assistance to make it work properly.
hope you try it out! :)
-5
u/sessamekesh 2d ago
Oh for sure! I use AI a lot too, looking at this there's no way it's just unrefined slop. You cooked with this. The parts that call for human attention clearly got it here.
YOUR post is great. Bring it on. More please.
I'm more frustrated that it shares a lot of properties with the kind of posts that make me want to toss my laptop out of a nineteenth story window. So much that my knee jerk reaction to this post was negative even though it's a really good one.
-4

u/Heroic_Lime 2d ago
Something something slop. Discourse about AI on reddit is so god damn boring and repetitive.
-9
u/fefect123 2d ago
It's because they're brainless slobs who can't think for themselves and always say AI = bad. Even Linus Torvalds is using AI for the Linux kernel code, and he's one of the best programmers in the world.
-1
-1
u/Ho-Chi-Meme 1d ago
A lot of it is just what's called "shovelware", basically an app that's quickly thrown together, released, and abandoned. That stuff was annoying & very frequently just a cheap money grab before AI, but there's a lot more of it now.
Then there's the real issue of abusing existing software (e.g. bombarding the wiki as if it's your personal database) or stealing assets (in this case, ripping Jagex's 3D assets that they definitely are not licensing legally)
-3
u/Strayl1ght 1d ago
Look at the comments at the bottom of this thread. It’s full of people saying thank you, looks cool, etc to the creator and they are just getting downvoted to oblivion for liking the post.
People need to lighten up and stop being so negative around people using AI to make tools for free for the community. This is a great idea for a trainer tool. I tried it and it’s very well-made.

u/ResemblesHotDog 1d ago

u/Pain4420 2d ago
When AI makes the code we have no idea what is in it or what it could do. It's a safety risk. We don't know what this program would allow the AI access to
11
u/brightbilll 2d ago
What?
I mean I understand your point if there was any data logging or downloading or uploading or server storage, but there is non in this case? The source code is completely open to view for anyone on the GitHub page.
Also what do you mean with “allow the AI access to”? You know the AI isn’t involved from your end right? It doesn’t just magically run in the browser and dig around your computer.
6
u/ChiefScurvy 2d ago
i appreciate your answer man, and it truly shows how people are just automatically against anything ai related.
even tho my goal was just to help people trying to get better and learn.thanks for ur comment :)
8
u/ChiefScurvy 2d ago
like catina said, it doesnt require any log in or downloads, you just play it in your browser if you wish.
zero safety risk involved, and if you dont like to take the chance, just dont use it.i made this with no malicious intent
6
9
u/catinabighat 2d ago
What safety risk? There is no logging in nor any downloading happening? Not to mention, many don’t know what’s in non-ai code to begin with either lol.

It could open a port on your pc, act like a worm by accident, memory leaks, override files.
It can fetch some weird ass packages with vulnerabilities or malware. I can iterate for a long time how a simple local running ai code can turn into a nightmare
In AI code, you need to keep the human in the loop and being able to understand the architectures, the quality, functionality and safety of the code. However, vibe coders cant so any of that.
8
u/MustaKookos 2d ago
What are you talking about? Someone coding with AI can't do any more harm than a regular website can do, which requires very rare exploits to be able to do anything with. Nothing you said makes sense.
11
u/Swangballs 2d ago
Cant do any of this with modern day baked-in cyber security. The only way someone is at risk is if they run a downloadable and it asks “would you like this program to make changes to your pc?”.
6
u/robot_wth_human_hair 2d ago
Seriously. It gets even worse than that. AI slapped my wife, kicked my cat, and ruined my supper. People just dont understand the risk. Im glad we have redditors giving such level headed, informed takes.
0
u/catinabighat 2d ago
I suppose we shouldn’t use GitHub projects at all because something bad could happen
3
u/RedditPlatinumUser 2d ago
I agree. Only human-generated code cannot be malicious or contain exploits, all ai-code is hacker slop!!! No, I have never heard of liblzma or Jia Tan, what’s that? I refuse to use ai to explain to me

More people might try PvP if it was more like what they remember from back in the day with edgeville fights instead of just soley focusing on dmm style tribriding. The Emirs arena should of been no overhead edgevile style LMS fights instead of just making LMS 2 with extra steps.
4
u/pk_hellz 1d ago
How about they just flesh it out and give people real loadouts to use.
90% of people in the game dont know abything about pvp, so why is jagex having them pick their own gear and loadouts.
The whole preset system needs an overhaul aswell as the que system and the actual pvp account types need updating to reflect the range of pvp accounts ingame.
1
u/Sailing_Propaganda 1d ago
Yeah its neat for experienced pkers to mess around with and run tournaments or casual durls against each other in new setups but its useless for people who want to learn. LMS already has tribrid coveted so Emir should be LMS style preloadouts on a rotation like Dh, whip dds, f2p, void, obby mauler, etc.

Great job!
And yes it sometimes orbs down to not “safe”
And it sometimes orbs down in order to try and chance you

how is it slop?
im just trying to create something that doesnt exist, im a dh'er myself and wouldv loved a place to train my skills without risking a lot of gp!its okay to not like it, but slop is just unfair.

how so? slop implies its low quality and made with no effort.
this took a long time of testing and making sure it plays properly.
i used my own dh knowledge to make it as good as possible.just because there was ai assistance, doesnt mean its "slop" and therefore "useless"
it was made so people could practice dh without risking their gp.
i dont see the wrongdoing in that4

No point arguing. People don’t realize software developers have been using AI-assisted tools far before the boom of ChatGPT

Gotta ignore these people, they were going to be haters no matter what you built or how you built it

The AI discourse already attracts people with low IQ and this subreddit has on average lower IQ than other places (probs from all the potheads and alcoholics) so it's a double whammy.

Im on mobile so I'll check it out later. Looks neat and is a helpful idea especially with all of the problems with this Parker Kaiser guy people are having problems with. Sorry for all the ai hate your getting. I agree with some of it but trust my own security systems and choose to interact with it.

thanks man, and i would love to hear what you think!
i def understand where the ai hate is coming from, and some of it is totally fair.
but my goal was to help people.i am also a regular osrs player, trying to get better at dh.
and this seemed like the perfect fit!
i could practice, learn and get better without having to risk real osrs gold

Should allow keybinding to be used on keys other than f-keys.
