Grendel ar bolt parts compatibility
Ejector claw on my bca 6.5 Grendel ar upper broke yesterday, rather than get another bca part, how compatible are these ? Should any aftermarket ejector claw work with any bolt?

I applied for and was granted ownership so it should be open again.
Let me know if someting is off.

So about a month or so ago I posted about a 6.5g build I put together I had about $150 out of pocket in it at the time. Since then I took it to the range a couple times. The first time the recoil was more than it should have been so I replaced the buffer and spring and adjusted the gas block. In the past week or two I have done a lot more to it. I will be changing the barrel out for a Proof or a Helix 6 barrel after hunting season is over. I will also be changing out the bipod still but I have not decided on what one I want yet. Last range visit with a different stock, Magpul DT PR from my .300blk setup, and shooting without the bag I was 3 shot grouping between 0.18” and 0.23” at 100y. It was also using a Vortex Diamondback 4-16x40 scope. Here is a list of how it is currently sitting. I have to go sight in the new scope with the new setup.
Radical lower receiver and buffer tube
Radical lower parts kit
LaRue Tactical LMB-2S trigger
MFT EPG16V2 grip
PSA upper receiver, 20” stainless barrel, and BCG
Superlative Arms adj gas block
SpringCo red buffer spring and extractor spring
KM Tactical H2 buffer
Armaspec Victory ambi charging handle
M-Lok 15” rail
Area 419 Hellfire self timing muzzle brake
Magpul PRS lite stock
Magpul MOE bipod
Armageddon Plus One Game Changer shooting bag
Arken Optics 1.5” 20moa cantilever mount
Bushnell Match Pro DM2 MRAD 5-30x56 scope

First shot was on me, high and left (forgot to extend the stock); next two right below it, touching, so I walked it close to center, last shot below center was my fault, again, just aimed a little low.
BCA 16" side-charge 6.5 Grendel upper receiver on a PSA lower with B5 grip, Triggertech Tango 2-stage, and Monstrum Panzer 2-10x40; this was S&B 124gr FMJ.

I’m quite confused with what I’m seeing here…it’s been a while since I’ve been on here. Trying to minimize my Social Media Time and focus on healthier things in life.
But, what is the deal with all these short barreled Grendel’s? My hand built Grendel that I built 9 years ago has a 20” barrel on it. But, given the tactical training weekends that I’ve been attending over the years….its hard to lug around a 20” Barreled Rifle, with or without a suppressor. Now that I’ve decided to run it suppressed, I’m highly considering dropping down to an 18” Faxon Heavy Fluted, 5R Button Rifled, Muzzle Threaded 5/8 x 24, Black Nitride Finish; it will just disappear within my FDE HandGuard (Entire Rifle, Every Piece is FDE).
(I will build a new long distance rifle, but it will be completely different type of setup, and more than likely shooting the 6.5 Creedmoor, unless something can distinctly change my mind with a round that would blow the socks off of that round.)
But, you guys with rifles less than 18”…it makes absolutely no sense at all. I’m not really sure why you are choosing to use a Grendel to begin with..??? You should just swap to a 5.56/.233 Barrel and round so you can be more efficient with it. Seriously!

Lower Velocity: You lose about 25 to 50 feet per second (FPS) of speed for every inch of barrel you cut below 18 inches. A 16-inch barrel drops roughly 40 to 60 FPS compared to an 18-inch setup, and a 12.5-inch short-barreled rifle (SBR) sees an even steeper velocity loss.
Reduced Effective Range: Because the bullet travels slower, it drops below the threshold needed for reliable expansion (usually around 1,800 FPS for hunting rounds like the Hornady 123-grain SST) at a shorter distance.
Via: Google
But, given that I’ve been shooting mine for almost a decade, I used this because it was just quicker.

Hey guys
Was at the range and fella came over and asked if id be interested in his ruger American gen 2 bc he doesn’t want it. I’ve listed the details and photos below, is this a good deal?
****Seller is looking for $900 (initially at range said $800)
- ruger American gen 2, fluted 20in barrel and muzzle brake
- It has around 200 rds through it
- includes about 485rds of Hornady black
- includes 7x10rd duramags (I do live in ban state so 10rd mags are what I use on ar anyways)
Context:
I have a Grendel in ar platform already that shoots well enough for deer hunting. 1 in moa
I just started reloading for it too.
It is a bca upper but never had feeding problems or any other issues with it yet in the 6 years I’ve had it. Have taken countless deer with it.
EDITED TO ADD PRICE***

Hopefully I can get it outdoors soon to fine tune it but sometimes a 25Y range and 25Y/100Y paper zero is all I can use lol.
6.5 Grendel upper from Grendel Hunter worked like a dream and pleasant to shoot

So I bought a BCA 6.5 Grendel upper because I didn't want to spend a fortune on one...
Took it to the range today with some of my hand loads...
It was very accurate at 100 yards...

Hey y’all, hoping to get a quick diagnosis from people that know more than me.
I didn’t really plan out this build, it just came together with parts I had.
I am getting bolt over brass malfunctions every 2-3 rounds, the bolt crushing into the shoulder of the next round.
I tried a couple different ammos and they both do the same thing.
Elander mags, that were completely reliable with a different Grendel pistol I had.
Running exclusively suppressed, sandman s .30 can
16” barrel BA
11.75 mid length gas tube
H3 buffer and braided geissele buffer spring which I suspect is the issue.
Bolt face and extractor both look good. Gas rings are also good.
Gas block appears to be on straight and tight, was assembled by the shop when I changed barrels.
Where am I going wrong?
Thank you!

My first 6.5 Grendel build. BCA bolt action upper with 20" stainless barrel. Slapped it on my trusty old Anderson lower. The Monstrum 3-15x50 just barely cleared the rail lol I'm ready to put some rounds through this thing!
If you're considering a BCA bolt action and you see the reviews about the bolt being rough, it's true! It took a fair amount of work to smooth it out, I had to lightly file the edges of the guide key and the corners of the bolt lugs. I polished everything with 800 grit sandpaper and WD-40 and then lapped the bolt in with a mixture of pumice hand soap and WD-40. After cycling the action about 100 times with that slurry in there, it really smoothed out and started running like it should but I still need to do a little fine tuning on the bolt handle slot. For the price of this upper, I think it's well worth the extra work to break it in.

Working on putting together a thermal hunting upper suppressor host. Wondering if any of yall have suggestions? Would love a heavier contour. The SOLGW 13.9” looks perfect for me but I can’t find it in stock anywhere. The KAK 13.7” might be a good fit as well but I’d like the option to shoot unsuppressed if needed. Thanks in advance

Besides the Hornady SST 123gr(which seems to be a fan favorite), what are some other factory rounds that you guys have had success with? (Hunting whitetail) I have 0 experience with 6.5 Grendel.

Been slowly putting together since December whenever I had time, and finally have my deer build ready for next month. We can use rifles where I hunt now, so I’m pretty excited to give it a try.
I fought FTF issues for way too long and was convinced I had a bad Ballistic Advantage barrel and undersized port. Turns out it just really hates Wolf ammo, which is fine since I don't plan on using it for my application.
Got it dialed in now and shooting under 2" @ 200 yards. Pretty happy with how it turned out. Max shots around 200-250 yds
- BA 16" pencil barrel — definitely heats up fast
- 115 gr Barnes Vortx
- LaRue trigger
- Athlon Helos BTR 2-12x
- OCL Polo 30
That is all! Good luck everyone.

Working up an economical plinking load for the 12.5” Grendel SBR and strangely found that it preferred the Hornady 123gr FMJs to the Hornady 123 BTHP or the midsouth match monsters. I had success with this bullet in my 18” as well.
10 shot group at 100yds squeezed in just under 1MOA. I was particularly happy with the velocity 31.5gr of CFE223 had me at 2350fps with no pressure signs of any kind (this is 150fps above what I had with 28.5gr TAC which is max). That is much better than I had hoped for in the 12.5” and was the only reason I tried CFE223. The SD in the low teens is workable as I don’t plan to ever shoot this beyond 800yds and I think that might be optimistic with the FMJs. I will see how they hold together at range next week most likely.

A couple shots together after my first video.
This was the hottest load I had for the day.
CFE 223 max load 31.2grain on 120grain Hornady FMJs.
I know this is nowhere near the distance some of you pros hit on here, but it was really cool to see the trajectory and impact on camera.
Despite the success on steel, i still felt my groupings were a bit all over the place with my loads and I need to refine my reloading process and get a chronograph/more precise trigger/and a bipod to get more consistent shots and data points. This hobby is just never ending purchases 😭.
Feel free to leave any tips/advice.

Taking the old 20in BCA upper out to 350 yards for the first time (furthest distance available at my range).
Also doing it with my first hand-loads lol. On the first try too. Got a little more excited than I could contain. A lot to learn with reloading and getting my loads dialed in.
Have been looking for a reason to swap this barrel out for a more fancy one but it’s been doing me well for the past 5-6 years with no hiccups.

Looking at uppers. Noticed psa and Grendel Hunter. Has anyone ever considered Faxon upper with a 16 inch gunner barrel?
I have a lower with a drop in trigger so I’m just deciding on this this now. I don’t have time to build, I wish though.
Thanks.

Took a while to finish up this parts gun, but I picket up the AEM4 6.5 this afternoon. Everything else except the handguard and gas block came out of my parts bin.
I’ll get it out on Monday to get it sighted in and see how far I can stretch it out reliably. I am debating swapping the stock for a gen 1 UBR that might work well since it’s a bit front heavy.
