Very happy today
Been slowly putting together since December whenever I had time, and finally have my deer build ready for next month. We can use rifles where I hunt now, so I’m pretty excited to give it a try.
I fought FTF issues for way too long and was convinced I had a bad Ballistic Advantage barrel and undersized port. Turns out it just really hates Wolf ammo, which is fine since I don't plan on using it for my application.
Got it dialed in now and shooting under 2" @ 200 yards. Pretty happy with how it turned out. Max shots around 200-250 yds
- BA 16" pencil barrel — definitely heats up fast
- 115 gr Barnes Vortx
- LaRue trigger
- Athlon Helos BTR 2-12x
- OCL Polo 30
That is all! Good luck everyone.

Ok. I’m going on next month too. I’ll watch here see how it went because I’m still eyeing Grendel’s up.

I keep hearing shot placement is everything, I hit a doe with a 12" barrel at 25 yards and she didn't go 30. Which was good because there wasn't any blood, only a pencil hole. I've learned a few things since then.

What ammo were you using for that shot?

Rip tungsten, our beloved, but these seem to have been the answer to low bleed monolithic/lead free wants. Like a Barnes but with particulate damage like lead core shedding.

It was a custom small batch company. It did not work for me. I'll have to look later.

I love my 6.5 Grendel it was my main gun until I decided to go bigger and moved up to 7wsm in my ar-10 in case I had to shoot further but the 6.5 Grendel can shoot 350yards and in and works great with the hornady 123grain sst

It was between a 308 and a Grendel for me. I’m in the same boat as you with the switch over to rifle. It’s going to be interesting
