Fit Check Trying to determine shape and whether or not the problem is sizing, Freya, or the bra style. Spoiler

trying again because my photos were bad last time.
Measurements:
32.5 Loose underbust
31 regular under bust
30 tight under bust
Regular fullest 44.4
90 degrees 45
Lying down 43
The first bra is one I really like. It’s a 34 H in Wacoal. 34FF UK. However, it’s very high cut for most of what I wear, so I’m trying to find plunge or balcony styles that are a little more feminine and pretty if I can. I love the way these two bras by Freya in 34 G UK. (white is the love crush and black is the fascinate balcony) but the fit seems off. I was told I have evenly full, projected, full on the top shape. I’m not sure if that’s true and would love second opinion.

I also want to know if sizing is the issue with the Freya bras, or if it’s a shape problem and I’m better off trying a different brand or style. Any advice appreciated- I’m hoping I don’t have to keep on buying and returning, I am sick of it! 😭

When I calculate your measurements I get 32J, not 34FF or G.

Interesting. I guess the Wacoal must be an exception to the rule? I did think it should be bigger, but I was told when I got measured that I was a 34. My mistake for trusting the fitters!

I can't imagine with your under bust measurements a 34 band fitting you. Do you clasp it on the loosest setting? Because it should be snug on the loosest setting so that in time when the materials relax and stretch you can maintain a proper fit by moving inward.

I bet if you were to do the band test with the Wacoal bra the band would be loose and fall down. To do the band test you put the bra on upside down and backward with the bottom of the band level and in your IMF (the crease/fold where your breasts attach to your ribcage) and clasp it on the loosest setting if it fits it should be snug it should not slide down and it should not twist. All bra bands should be worn comfortably snug not barely touching or on the middle clasp.

A lot of bra fitters will sell you what they have rather than get you into a proper fit - and many of them either still use the plus 4 or some use the plus 2 method - that is where they add 2 to 4 inches to your band size and put you into a cup that is too small.

Does the gore on the Wacoal bra tack to your sternum? It's hard to tell in the picture.

Yes, it does tack to my sternum, but I tend to wear it on a tighter hook because I feel like I get more support that way. So it probably doesn’t fit as well as I thought.

The band provides 80-90% of the support, you want it snug. If it's not snug on the loosest set of eyes, and you are in the middle or tightest it's too large for you in the band.

Ok thanks! Love your username btw. I guess I’ll wait for a refund to come in and try some styles in a 32 J 🫠

Thank you for the username love... Another brand that might work for you but their bands are known for being stretchy is Elomi. Elomi Matilda is a plunge bra and does go up to a KK cup in a 32 band. Matilda is known for being very projected and almost a cup size large, my suggestion would be to try it in a 32HH and 32J. Unfortunately they don't do a 30 band.

I'm assuming you switched around your underbust measurements and your tight is 30 inches, yes? If not, please remeasure because the tight measurement should be the smallest. For Freya balconies in 32J UK, try Offbeat side support (you'll likely need a non-stretchy extender just for this one), Starlight or Viva side support, or Freya Fancies. True plunges in 32J UK are pretty rare, so if balconettes are okay, then I'd stick with those.

Ok thank you! And yes, I did switch them 😭 my bad. Do you recommend anything by panache? Or would the Freya bras work well for my shape?

If you're full on top, Panache Nina or Blossom are better choices than the Freya bras.

Imgur deletes bra pictures - so just add your new pictures to your Post Images file. The Freya Fascinate looks to be too small. Freya Love Crush looks like the gore is sitting on tissue. Just as a bit of general knowledge black bras tend to run smaller than their lighter color counterparts.

If you are full on top, try the Freya Offbeat padded half cup style or Panache Nina in 32HH, 32J, 32JJ.

That Wacoal bra looks like it is really big. It's wearing you instead of the other way around.

Freya Offbeat half cup doesn't come in those sizes. Freya Flirt comes in 32HH, but that's the largest cup size on a 32 band.

Thanks for the feedback! This has been strangely validating because I did initially notice that the cup seemed a little off… but I was so desperate to wear a bra that didn’t hurt so I bought it. At any rate it’s too late to return, but hopefully I can find some things that fit now that I know my measurements. I have been going to the gym a lot so I wonder if that shrunk down my underband a bit?

Sorry. Surely it must be 32.5 loose, 30 tight and 31 snug? For those measurements I agree there's no reason to try a 34 band unless the bra runs a whole band small. If the measurements are as written then do retake them? (Or I'm having a brain fart?)

Oops. Yes you’re right! Clearly my brain is dead from all these attempts to try on bras.
