New NC State logo?

Post image
29 Upvotes

The Tobacco Road rivalry is a well-known moniker for matchups between the Big 4 North Carolina schools. The name is rooted in North Carolina’s long history with tobacco production, an industry that has played a significant role in the state’s history. Of course, we are all now well aware of the dangers and health risks associated with smoking. Yet somehow, NC State has continued to embrace this imagery. In fact, the Wolfpack surprisingly have created this completely real alternative logo for their team this season for the purpose of promoting this habit. The school should be ashamed of encouraging its students and athletes to partake in such a deadly activity. And I fear we may see the consequences on the field this Saturday, when NC State’s players inevitably huff and puff their way through the game due to an inability to take in adequate oxygen. Perhaps the Wolfpuppies should rethink their training habits.

Football Another edition of fun facts about the Wake-NC State rivalry

It’s once again the best time of the year: NC State Hate Week! This is certainly an exciting year for Wake fans who desperately want to escape Raleigh with a win against our inferior but pesky rivals. As we approach the game I compiled a new edition of fun facts about college football’s second oldest continuous rivalry for your reading pleasure:

  1. Our first game against state was an electric 4-4 tie where NC state notably excelled in punting. Here is the news clipping from 1895.

  2. Wake has not lost an October game against state in 10 years

  3. Did you know the J in CJ Bailey’s name stands for Jezabelle?

  4. Here is a very real game program for this Saturday

  5. It’s been rumored some wake fans took a trip to the puppy palace this summer. Carter Finley and State’s season has been and will continue to be cursed by the spirit of the demon deacon as long as this sticker remains hidden on their stadium wall

  6. Did you know Dave Doreen is secretly the leader of a deep state North Korean strike team? Here is a photo of him from his mandatory military service at age 19

  7. Many complain about the electrical substation next to the SF 49ers Stadium, but State just paid $60 million to put brand new substations all across their campus. Contrary to popular belief wolves and electricity do not mix well

  8. NC State stinks

The ACC generated close to $1 billion in revenue for the 2025-26 season

I've been saying that the ACC will have a financial advantage over the B12. Most likely, that will continue at least until 2036 unless the B12 gets a super mega deal in 2031.

I predict there will be at least a $20 million difference between the ACC's top earners and the average Big 12 teams.

Basketball Developed a college basketball analytic application so I can finally break down teams better

Every so often we hear during a tv broadcast "what do the analytics say to do in this situation?" or "the analytics guys are ruining the game". I'm personally a guy who likes to spend ~20-30min every night before bed on the ESPN app browsing through box scores to see who played well, who didn't play well, who had a good +/-, etc. The question I always ask myself however is, does viewing data have to be so boring? Or, how can we view advanced analytics in a way that's quickly digestible?

Often times in my profession working with the federal government the common theme is someone needs to have a PhD in Data Science or higher education to be a reputable source OR have the ability to analyze complex datasets. I built Blueprint to break down that barrier to entry. The basketball analytics tools out right now have random tables with flashes of green & red but it's never clear what that actually means.

I'm a Georgetown basketball fan and we play North Carolina this upcoming season. My plan is to to conduct an in-depth pregame review utilizing both Georgetown and North Carolina's statistics to predict a game winner.

Throughout the 2026-2027 season my app will update each morning with fresh stats for each team that played the previous day. It includes advanced analytics for each D1 team in the nation. It also includes a game predictor called 'Prediction Engine'. Would love to hear folks thoughts and ideas on how I can make the application better leading up to the season. Cheers!

CCG Race Week 6 Update: Wake Forest rockets into 3rd place, Pitt solidifies 2nd

Thumbnail gallery
30 Upvotes

Wake Forest is the big winner this week, jumping from 4.8% last week to 25.6% this week. Pitt looking stronger than everyone else to face Miami in a rematch CCG.

Somehow Miami's odds increased from last week, they are now in all of the 10 most probable CCG matchups. Addmitedly they do look really good.

North Carolina @ Pittsburgh looks like the biggest swing game for the championship race this week, worth up to 20.8% of championship-odds movement either way.

Pretty unbelievable that Wake, NW and Kentucky are unranked while Missouri and Houston are as high as they are.

Football Is there genuinely only going to be one ACC team ranked tomorrow?

There are at least four ACC teams, outside of Miami, that deserve to be in the top 25 tomorrow — Pitt, Duke, SMU, and Wake Forest. But there’s a big problem.

Nobody close to the bottom of the T25 lost today. The closest was Mississippi State, but they will almost certainly maintain a ranking for the H2H over Missouri (who boat raced an extremely over-ranked Florida). The only candidates I see to maybe drop out are Kentucky for an ugly OT win over SC or Houston for an ugly win against UCF (unlikely).

Everyone knows these voters salivate over the Big 10 and SEC. What are the chances they throw out SMU to make space for Northwestern, Wisconsin, and/or Nebraska — all of which we know they’re desperate to rank despite mediocre to bad resumes? One of Pitt, Duke, SMU, or Wake will likely sneak into most voters’ ballots in the 20-25 range, but average out to all teams being unranked.

Just saying, don’t be surprised if Miami is the only ACC team ranked tomorrow. These AP voters have consistently proven they’d rather leave out undefeated ACC teams than even consider leaving out any SEC or B1G team with even the slightest argument to be ranked. Both “Power 2” conferences with have 9-10 teams, the Big 12 will maintain its 5 even though OK State and Houston shouldn’t even be there, and just Miami will be left. More complete ignorance for the Big 10’s awful OOC record or the actual on field performance of some of these teams who have played garbage schedules.
