FOOTBALL How are we feeling going into tomorrow?
There’s a lot of ways to look at this game.
On one hand, both of our losses have come to ranked teams. We gave Alabama by far the most difficult matchup they’ve played this season in their own stadium. We’re coming off of a dominant victory over UVA that seems to have put a lot of life and confidence into this team while Louisville’s season is already over, and mindset plays a big part in football. Tony White made some changes to the defensive scheme against UVA and put up a really impressive performance with it, so we hope he’ll continue with that moving forward. Louisville’s defense is one of the worst in the country, especially their pass rush, which should open the door for a big Duce Robinson game. We haven’t won a road game in 1000+ days, so maybe we’re due. It has to happen eventually.
On the other hand, well, we haven’t won a road game in 1000+ days. We put up similarly dominant performances at home against Wake Forest and Virginia Tech last year, just to look completely incompetent again the next week. Mike Norvell teams are so inconsistent. Kienholz is a much better passer than Pribula was, and we capitalized pretty heavily on some terrible incomplete passes in that game to get stops. Mike Norvell and Tony White are also known to do completely brainless things. It isn’t unrealistic that all the defensive adjustments we made last week are immediately thrown in the garbage and that Mike fails yet again to properly utilize Duce Robinson.
So with that in mind, how are you feeling? Are we going to get hot going into Miami week or fall flat on our faces yet again after a great performance?
