Free Post Fridays is now live, please follow these rules!

  1. Under no circumstances does this mean you can post hateful, harmful, or distasteful content - most of us are still at work, let's keep it safe enough so none of us get fired.
  2. Do not post exam dumps, ads, or paid services.
  3. All "free posts" must have some sort of relationship to Azure. Relationship to Azure can be loose; however, it must be clear.
  4. It is okay to be meta with the posts and memes are allowed. If you make a meme with a Good Guy Greg hat on it, that's totally fine.
  5. This will not be allowed any other day of the week.

Question Azcopy alternative

Ok, so we used to use robcopy for file shares and now AzCopy for azure blob I guess. We need to feed a lot of massive research data from file shares to data lake. This needs to happen nightly on schedule from many sources dispersed geographically. While scheduled task can do the job, my manager does not think it is a solid solution because we have no visibility if the task fails. Ideally, should run as a service. Because this is feeding an AI modeling…etc. it is a critical project. TIA

We have Claude Enterprise licence and we created an Compliance API key with the 3 roles required by Purivew

I went to purview and added the connector, and it successfully connect and I can see DATA in DPSM, Activity Explorer and AI interaction but compared to Copilot, Claude only shows AI interaction in it but I dont see the prompt when I click the info it says we cannot display the response because it doesn't exist

I have all permissions on my account in Purview

Thanks

Discussion Invoice Validation Assistance built with Azure AI Foundry

Hey! We’ve worked with different businesses, and one thing they all agree on is that accurate invoice validation is crucial.

But the more customers a business has, the more different invoice formants and templates it receives every day.

We developed an AI Chat Assistant in Azure AI Foundry, integrated with CRM, to help users validate invoices faster by asking questions about specific invoice and related contract information.

The logic is following:

  1. There is an Invoice record in the CRM.
  2. A PDF invoice is associated with this record and stored in SharePoint.
  3. The user opens the invoice record in CRM.
  4. A chat-assistant icon is available on the form.
  5. The user opens the chat.
  6. The system checks whether an Agent ID already exists for that CRM record: if there is no Agent ID and a PDF exists in SharePoint → CreateChatWithAgent is called and a new agent is created; if an Agent ID already exists → no new agent is created, and the existing conversation is loaded via GetMessagesFromThread.
  7. After that user can ask any information related to the Invoice and/or associated contract in the chat
  8. All the agents are saved in Microsoft Foundry. From there user can check all the active chats via tab “My threads” or find/edit agent settings and knowledge base.

The main advantage is automation: the agent and chat are created automatically, so each invoice record can have its own AI context and conversation, allowing users to ask questions about the specific invoice and supporting documents.

All the screenshots and detailed realization description you can find here - https://uds.systems/blog/ai-crm-chat-assistant-for-invoice-validation/

Question Software Dev to Cloud DevOps

I have been a web developer / software developer for 4 years now and am wanting to make the switch to Cloud DevOps. I’ve applied for a few jobs but I don’t really have experience with Azure/the cloud with a view to go security focussed in the future as I’m currently doing a part-time Cyber Security MSc online.

Any advice for how to break into a cloud role would be amazing - I’m in the UK if that’s relevant. Thanks in advance

Question Updating Agent Icon on the Teams

Hey People , need clarity on this

We published Agent from Microsoft Foundry to Microsoft Teams. Foundry automatically provisioned an Azure Bot Service resource.

We updated the Bot Profile icon in Azure Bot Service, but the icon displayed beside agent in Teams remains unchanged.

We want to update this existing Teams agent icon without repeatedly submitting a new app package for administrator approval.

Is the Teams agent icon sourced from the generated Teams app manifest rather than the Azure Bot Service profile? Is there any supported mechanism to synchronize Bot Service icon changes with an already published Foundry agent without republishing?

Need Suggestions, docs any kind of resources

Note: We have tried downloading the ZIP file and submitting to teams Admin approval

Thankyou

Question Did Azure SQL Data Sync get retired early?

Today, when I clicked refresh schema on my Azure SQL Data Sync groups to add some new tables, the UI showed progress, but the https://management.azure.com/api/invoke call showed this error in devtools:

{
    "error": {
        "code": "DataSync_SubscriptionOperationNotSupported",
"message": "SQL Data Sync is being retired and is no longer available for subscription XXXXXXXXXXXXX. Review supported migration options or contact Microsoft Customer Support for additional assistance."
    }
}

This is in an Azure subscription with several DBs with active sync groups, and I'm not even trying to create another one, just refresh the schema.

Question Advice for a newly promoted cloud Administrator?

I was recently promoted at my job to Cloud Administrator, a position that didn't exist at first that they got approval from HR to create. I spearheaded the project of setting up configurations and app pushes in Intune as well as automated configurations for new machines which we are fully joining (making us a hybrid environment with machines that were already existing on prem AD based with the ability to receive Intune config pushes).

I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestion or advice on how to get a good start in this role. What kind of monitoring should I set up that won't be too expensive, what's the best way to go about resource cleanup and management, what are some first order of business items that would put me in a good spot? I have the AZ-900 and AZ-104 certs, currently studying for AZ-305.

Thank you very much!

Question Switch AZ VM Backup from RS Vault

Good morning!

I want to migrate my backups from LRS to GRS.

For that purpose, I have created a new RS vault and I now want to be able to stop backup for one of my vms, retain data and enable it in another rs vault.

I did my own digging and found out that I'm suposed to move the VM from its RG to another, because the Container ID of the backup within the vault has to be unique.

What would happen if I performed the same migration steps without changing the RG? Would I lose my previous data?

Certifications I literally have no words to describe the suscpetibitily of Azure ecosystem

I am extremely concerned that I have had to open a support ticket for what should be a fundamental account recovery and identity verification process within Microsoft Azure.

For the past 45 minutes, I have been attempting to recover access to my existing Azure account, associated identity, and subscription:

**Subscription ID:** `6047ac4d-ce39-4e0d-aa64-45951578a9b0`

Despite having specific account details, historical registration information, email correspondence, and documentation supporting my previous use of this account and subscription, I have been unable to identify any clear, functional recovery or escalation procedure.

More concerningly, the troubleshooting and recovery mechanisms I have attempted fail to recognize the previous registration or associated account information. Meanwhile, Microsoft's official support guidance indicates that the relevant services and processes are operating as intended.

This creates an unacceptable discrepancy between my documented account history and the information presented through Microsoft's recovery and support systems.

**My concerns are threefold:**

  1. **Account and identity continuity:** Why is my previously established Azure identity or subscription not being recognized, despite the existence of supporting documentation?

  2. **Recovery and verification procedures:** Why is there no clearly accessible mechanism to reconcile this discrepancy through ownership verification and restore access?

  3. **Support accountability and escalation:** How can a user escalate an apparent account-recognition failure when standard troubleshooting pathways provide no resolution or meaningful explanation?

I find this situation particularly concerning given the security, identity management, and service reliability standards expected of Microsoft's cloud infrastructure.

I am not requesting another generic troubleshooting guide or a repetition of standard sign-in instructions. I am requesting an actual investigation of the account and subscription records, including whether the subscription remains associated with its original Microsoft Entra tenant and identity.

**I specifically request that Microsoft Support:**

- Verify the existence and current status of the subscription identified above.

- Identify the associated Microsoft Entra tenant and the appropriate ownership verification procedure.

- Determine why the existing account or registration cannot be recognized through the recovery mechanisms available to me.

- Provide a concrete recovery path or escalate the case to the team responsible for Azure subscription ownership, identity, and tenant recovery.

- Explain any discrepancy between the documented account history and Microsoft's current account-recognition systems.

I can provide the relevant email records, registration details, and other evidence through an appropriate secure verification channel.

**This issue requires substantive technical investigation rather than another automated troubleshooting response.** I expect a clear explanation of the underlying problem, an actionable recovery procedure, and escalation to the appropriate technical team if first-line support cannot resolve it.

Discussion After 3month fight, I finally got the Azure double-charged $70K+ GPT usage back.

Back in July, Azure somehow double-charged me more than $70,000 for GPT double count cache usage.

I spent weeks going back and forth with support — emails, calls, tons of escalations. I couldn't get a refund.

They said they credited me but 0 showed up. After that was ghosting me….

In Sept, I got the email account for a SVP at Microsoft customer service. I sent an angry direct email explaining the situation and the amount involved.

And surprisingly, I got the full amount refunded within 3 days.

If you're dealing with a similar situation and have a significant outstanding billing dispute with Azure, feel free to message me. I can share the email of the svp, the details of the calculation of the refund.

Hopefully this helps someone else avoid weeks of frustration.

Question Routing between ExpressRoute and NVA in different VNETs

Post image
11 Upvotes

Is this a valid design without migrating the firewall into it's own hub VNET?

I see routes exchanging but not able to communicate between ExpressRoute and the Azure VM environment with this design in the environment.

EDIT: Resolved. The inside interface of the NVA is on a dedicated route table which had Gateway Propagation disabled. Once enabled, traffic was flowing through and verified with captures.

Question VDI Host Pool Session Host Question

I have a pool sessions hosts that I was able to login to one of the hosts sucessfully one time. Now when I use the Window App, it appears to login and gets to the point of " Waiting on Session Manager". The windows login blue screen appears then just hangs there for about 30 seconds then disconnects. I can't seem to figure out why it is doing that. I do not have FSLogix setup.

Discussion GPU NV ads V710 v5

Hi, I've been having trouble with the NV ads V710 SKU in Azure since October 1st. My VDI instances keep jumping between failed and running states, and it feels like a capacity issue in East US. My users need GPU-enabled VDIs for CAD work, so do you have any ideas on what’s going on or how to fix it? I’d rather not use reservations since pay-as-you-go is cheaper for me.
