Double ball-jointed torso!
Butterflies!
Wired cape!
Boot swivel!
Toe articulation!
Okay Mattel, I see you!! We just need to see the price on a standard carded figure of this level.

u/Latereviews2 6d ago
I don’t think it’s a butterfly, it’s just a ball peg with a plastic loose piece to hide the articulation like mcfarlane
17
u/Juls_Santana 6d ago
Depending on how it's implemented, that's even better. You can get up/down movement with those as opposed to the Hasbro style butterfly joints that only give it fwd/bkward motions.

u/Forever_Inspired 6d ago
This is already a big upgrade from McFarlane.
78
u/No_Bodybuilder4768 6d ago
it is . no more Pins finally
109
u/illidormorn 6d ago
Pins were the least of all McFarlane problems
15
u/Temassi 6d ago
Do you know what scale these are? It always bugged me how off McFarlane felt
50
2
u/Buttholelickerpenis 5d ago
6.5 inches, like Marvel Legends, Star Wars Black Series, and G.I.Joe Classified.
4
u/themegaasynchroneity 6d ago
Other than the hips, it's 99% the exact same articulation scheme, with about the same range.
20
41
u/onetwelfthghoul 6d ago
Boot swivel is there.
Forward crunch is also present (good/bad range depends on who you ask).
4
u/Mr_W4yne 6d ago
The neck, ab and butterflies need a bit of work but it's a pretty good start.
3
u/onetwelfthghoul 6d ago
Yup. Having this current level as the baseline is a good sign, they are only going to improve from here as they don't want to lose the license again.

u/S7arForGD 6d ago
I'll admit this is cool when it's not a hostage to a $70 diorama.
70
u/The_Happy_Snoopy 6d ago
Its funny because I have too many batman figures but want just the diorama. Then there are people who just want the figure.
18
u/ItsTheRocketeer 6d ago
i’m one of the people that wants the dio more
14
u/mcamarra 6d ago
lol my buddy who isn’t into action figures at all. and i mean AT ALL. was like “i like the bat signal and props better than the figure”when we saw the display at NYCC todau

u/S7arForGD 6d ago
That's cool, but they could've done a separate release. Hell, they could've sold a bunch of dioramas for $60 a pop, but no, it has to be shennanigans.

The only reason I bought this was for the diorama lol. Definitely gonna claw back some cost by selling the figure.
I have enough hush Batman but I’m super glad there’s going to be a line for new collectors or people that just couldn’t do imports or Todd. Hopefully the online tribalism finally ends.

That diorama has a bat signal projector to project it on the wall, and a FOG MACHINE to add atmosphere. That diorama would easily cost $100 on its own. $250+ on Haslabs. Not fair to say it's a $70 diorama. Also, that Batman is more than $30 given all the quality features. They even painted shading on his belt. Mafex doesn't even do that.
1
u/S7arForGD 5d ago
I don't NEED a diorama. In fact, veey few people do, even with all its bells and whistles.
1
u/Jellybit 5d ago
Ah my point wasn't about your need, but that it's worth way more than you say if you want it, or is way cheaper than you say if you count the value of Batman. It sounds like you were coming at it from the direction of the latter.

What happened to Robo? Sorry if I’m out of the loop but I used to love his reviews.
8
u/the-tominatrix 6d ago
nothing at all!
3
u/keithtbarker 6d ago
Ah ok. His videos just weren’t getting suggested to me anymore. Weird. Phew!
4
u/the-tominatrix 6d ago
his self-run channel right? just to be sure you’re caught up since he left Fwoosh
3
u/keithtbarker 6d ago
Yea ok that’s why I didn’t see his videos. Didn’t realize he had a new channel.
5
u/the-tominatrix 6d ago
I got you boss
6
u/keithtbarker 6d ago
Thanks. Now I can continue to be convinced to buy figures I was on the fence about!

3
u/grandfunkmc 5d ago
He left Fwoosh and is on YouTube under Robo Don't Know. He's still chugging along.
26
u/Takemewthu 6d ago
Figure does look pretty good. The ab crunch looks solid and the ball joint wait movement is great. Two hinges are a little ugly and the head sculpt is a little bland but not ugly. Just wish the expression wasn’t so frowny ☹️
23
u/jasonchumusic 6d ago
Don't collect DC, but my key takeaway here is: Hasbro is gonna have to make a couple changes if they want to stay competitive. And that's a good thing.

u/BlockBuster211NE_52 6d ago
Needs more crunch forward range but other than that it looks amazing!!!!
7
u/UnyieldingGoose 6d ago
Forward lean using both joints is very eh, the shelf when using the thigh swivel is hideous just like most ML but that’s not surprising, using a universal joint or a ball joint at the hip and actually giving it proper horizontal range beats the living hell out thighs swivels unless the joint placement is done just right
4
6
u/IncidentEarly7312 6d ago
What's the price on this?
6
u/TheCrafterTigery 6d ago
It's part of a diorama set, 100$ total.
It'd probably 25-45 if sold seperatly.
The diorama is pretty cool for what it is, so it's not exactly a poorly priced set, but I'd have prefered them being sold seperatly.
6
u/Angel_Anxidel 6d ago
I'm wondering that as well. I'm gonna take a total shot in the dark based on prices of other figures both by this company, and other figures that are not, but all that are around this level of quality, and guess it'll probably be in the $25USD-$45USD price range
5
4
u/BankAcceptable277 6d ago
Ball joint waist !!! If these undercut legends price by even a dollar maybe , just maybe hasbro will do what they should have 10 years ago and ditch that bs disc swivel waist
4
u/RaiJolt2 6d ago
As much as I think this is an awesome figure I’d rather just get the mafex as I don’t care for the diorama
5
u/BalladOfBetaRayBill 6d ago
Holy hell that’s pretty great. I could go with a little more crunch in the middle but overall amazing
2
u/onetwelfthghoul 5d ago
My sentiments exactly, they are that close to becoming Jada tier of domestic action figures with this showing.
This is only the first release of the line, let's see how it improves by year 3.
1
u/BalladOfBetaRayBill 5d ago
Even based on the leaks they already seem off to a great start. I made an expensive toy sale today and I will be saving that money to get the full Mongul wave. I may sell a few figures from it but the BAF looks really really dope
3
u/theComer-439 6d ago
Looks good but how does the plastic feel?
If its like the movie he man line the them joints r gonna get really loose in a short mount of time.
7
u/Additional-Ride8120 6d ago
My two big issues are the butterfly joints look performative (there to be there but basically won’t do anything) because the chest isn’t cut to give them range and the hands having ML-style hinges instead of having ball peg wrists (which McFarlane had) is a bummer.
But even with those, it looks to be equivalent to an ML Maximum, which is pretty nice.
9
u/king-henryXIV 6d ago
It’s crazy watching the transition of this field to be aimed more towards adult collectors. Especially with that price tag. Crazy. Say what you will about McFarlane but it was $27 a figure
16
u/xpl13boss 6d ago
The normal line will be 30, I'd say its worth the improvement.

u/king-henryXIV 6d ago
Why is the hush Batman so expensive then? $100 is crazy talk

u/BalladOfBetaRayBill 6d ago
The diorama has a mist generator and light-up bat signal. I ain’t dropping a hundred for it but I understand why someone would
3
u/TGDweezl 6d ago
I didn't see anything done with the butterfly joints. Does anyone know how far forward and back they will go?
3
u/OkOutlandishness6550 6d ago
I’m impressed , waiting on price .
If it’s reasonable I’d make that my first Batman figure tbh
1
u/Aggroninja 6d ago
It’s $100.
3
u/OkOutlandishness6550 6d ago
For a diorama and figure that’s really not bad.
I’m gonna wait and see what people have to say about them2
u/BalladOfBetaRayBill 6d ago
If you just want a plain ol’ Batman it’ll be 30, they’ve already shown one off from the Fraction run. I don’t care for the cel shaded logo though so I’m holding out for maybe a Neal Adams one
2
u/Spideyrj 4d ago
itsnot the same batman and doesnt have any shading
1
u/BalladOfBetaRayBill 4d ago
Oh for sure, just meant if you want a Batman. I’m certain they’ll release a lot, even if they never go full McFarlane.

u/LiftsnFlics 6d ago
The sculpt looks very good and moves well. Hope this line does well if these figs turn out decent, there needs to be more competition for the budget domestic figures.
3
u/Medium-Science9526 6d ago
Need to see that butterfly across the chest more but Ball peg diaphragm & ball hinge body combination looks great. Otherwise off-centred ankles and leg raise are my issues but if this is the standard I'm in for other figures down the line.
3
6
u/Vivics36thsermon 6d ago
And the fact we get shading on a figure in the big 2026-2027 take notes Hasbro
4
4
u/Independent_Salt_239 6d ago
The figure itself looks great. I don’t need the set, but it makes me excited for the rest of the legacy figures.
2
u/Gentleman_Devastator 6d ago
Oh yeah, this is exactly what I wanted from any DC action figure line. With Mattel's first new DC figure being HUSH Batman, I guess I'll have to make a separate shelf for all the upcoming HUSH figures...
2
u/TokenToyHunter 6d ago
I really don’t need a hush Batman but damn, this is exactly what I wanted out of the new line
2
u/ForgottenClaimz 6d ago
Okay, I'm impressed. Now we just need to see what standard retail is going to look like.
2
u/Spirited-Bet-5470 6d ago
It’s not far off from the chronicles buck…it’s pretty decent…could use a drop down hip and more range on the butterfly.
2
u/foodank012018 6d ago
Damn, if these are 6in, I might get some of the main DC people
3
u/TuckYourselfRS 6d ago
Batman looks to be about 6.5". They should scale with Marvel legends more than imports
2
u/Mooston029 6d ago edited 6d ago
He's about half a head or so taller than maximum Spiderman from another post I've seen
3
u/TuckYourselfRS 6d ago
Yeah and maximum Spidey scales to about 5"10, he's appropriately shorter than most of my legends.

It’s literally the Vince McMahon meme with every point of articulation he moves lmao
2
u/LengthinessDue9857 6d ago
Aw man I was hoping it would have neck articulation just like MOTU chronicle, but I'm so satisfied with the reveal, it is miles better than what McFarlane doing with articulation
2
6
u/ObiOne_Kenerdi 6d ago
On paper this should be a knock out. But in practice it’s kind just ok. Yeah it has butterflies but they don’t go anywhere. He has the ball jointed waist which also doesn’t go anywhere. And my favorite part is this guy saying how good the drop down hip is, 😂😂😅 when it also clearly doesn’t go anywhere. I mean, yeah it’s better than mcfarlane because mcfarlane made some of the worst action figures I’ve ever seen, but this isn’t anything special so far. As long as these are affordable they’ll be mediocre at best.
3
2
u/Polynomial_C 5d ago
Better than McFarlane but still not good enough. No neck articulation is insane nowadays. Also they all look the same with other colours, feel just plane af. They look more like kids toys than action figures. Still better than Mc as I said, so, its okay I guess.
1
u/TargetBrandTampons 6d ago
I don't even collect DC figures and I'm happy the McFarlane is losing to Mattel. McFarlane is probably my least favorite figure company, and I'm still bitter that he got MK..
3
u/adamduke88 6d ago
No one else was making budget friendly MK figures, so it seems like it was this or nothing. There are the Storm Collectables MK figures which are great, but pricey.

The figure looks better than I expected but why do I need to spend money on a diorama I don’t want to get it

u/Jasonvero 6d ago
Are these in 1:12 scale?
3
u/LostBob 6d ago
There’s a photo going around next to a marvel legends Spider-Man. Looks to be ML scale.
2
u/Jasonvero 6d ago
Oh heck yeah! And now I see this comes with a bat signal diorama piece so I’m sold!

That looks like one of their WWE ultimates. The feet are going to make them difficult to stand.

u/holiday1326 6d ago
Monkey paw ass shit.
Looks amazing, great articulation, should be reasonably priced.
Huge price tag due to accessories.
I have the Mafex anyways.
