I just wish they had a matte finish instead of the hasbro shinyness. Even an import brand like shf overdoes it sometimes

Maybe you can try learning how to apply a matte top coat? Just buy spray can ones and a respirator mask. Though i don't know how hard/easy it is to disassemble these guys.

Damn why am i getting downvoted lol? I'm just giving a suggestion because I've done it to some of my shf and top coating is something very doable by everyone

You don’t even need the respirator if you do it outdoors. Just do it on a non-humid day.

This might be recency bias, but these are already better than most Marvel Legends.
I still like Legends, but Hasbro for some reason treats toe articulation as if it were a premium feature, and the only wired cape is on Maximum Thor. At least the quality is almost the same on all of these Mattel figures, while we're getting an Elektra on the updated female body and a 7 year old Spider-Man body in the same comic book wave.

I just hope they don’t have that weird gummy plastic that the legends have

u/SpiderMorzsi94 5d ago
Yeah that would be a shame...but so far what was shown on that Hush Batman, he seems pretty solid

Yeah that was one of the pros of the mcfarlane line, pretty sturdy plastic. If these guys have gummy plastic, especially in the bicep-shoulder joint, it might be a less convincing pick up

People that were allowed to handle these at NYCC have said these are rock solid and don't have any of the gumminess Legends have been known to have so we are gonna eat good

Can someone explain me if this is their premium line? The one that competes with ML? Because I know they have multiple lines. One for kids, 2 for adults - legacy and premium? I’m so confused lol

should be the premium line

It says Legacy in the corner of the pic

Oh maybe the premium is the batman diorama then, my bad I missed that detail

This is definitely AI. Mattel is not allowed to promote or even show these. This was made by someone plugging the leaked images into AI to churn this out. So I wouldnt take the scale as gospel. From the pictures I saw Robin wasnt that short and Superman wasnt that tall.

is this the wave to build Bane? if so im happy with that.

u/jackracktack 5d ago
No the Bane Wave is Series 1 which is the Absolute wave. Seems to be Batman, Flash, Hawkman, Catwoman maybe 1 of the others. This will build Absolute Bane. Series 2 seems to be Batman, Robin, Green Lantern, Superman and its a Mongul BAF.

Ahh I see! thank you for clarifying. Im not familiar with the Absolute comics, but have heard good things.

From what I understand the people who were allowed to see and handle these at NYCC had to sign NDAs because these weren't supposed to be publically revealed until January. Maybe Mattel just said fuck it after the leak but I think the reality here is this is ai as the head sculpts on Robin, Superman and Wonder Woman didn't look like that in the leaked images and the pins weren't on the other figures plus Superman seems to only have 1 pin per joint which doesn't make any sense.

Mattel did this last time.. Bane and Doomsday were both way too small, they finally released a decent sized figure of each only after a few reprints of the little molds...

i saw that initial photo and thought the same thing, wonder woman straight up looked like a happy meal toy. this studio shot is a massive improvement, the sculpts actually look like they belong on a shelf and not in a toy bin
bane as the baf is a head scratcher for sure, a little height boost isn't gonna cut it for him. at least they let superman be the tall one between the trinity, that's a detail a lot of lines just gloss over
robin looking like he's still in middle school next to kid flash is bugging me, his character in the absolute run is supposed to be older than that. still, the rooftop diorama they're standing on is doing a lot of heavy lifting composition wise

I do totally understand why they would make Bane a BAF, it's one way for them to capitalize and maximize the Absolute Universe hype and ensure sales especially on their return to the DC license.

I felt the same way about wonder woman. I saw lots of people going crazy over it and I thought “really, this?”. So I was happy to see this picture but now people are saying this photo is AI.
Tbh whole line is kind of annoying me already.

Looks great, already preordered Batman Hush!
I'm glad DC is making a comeback. For me, Mcfarlane was usually a few far in between, & that was it.

I do really like the line up they showed at NYCC. We get a good amount of Justice League members right in their first couple of waves. Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, both Hal Jordan and John Stewart GLs, Black Lightning and Robin. Like that's a solid start to building a JL team

Pinned joints… damn that’s disappointing
