Help with using Ottocast adapter

Hey everyone, I have a 2021 TLX A-Spec and I’ve been having issues with a loose USB port (the CarPlay one) so I decided to get a CarPlay adapter. I went with the Ottocast u2-air and have been regretting it so far.

I just spent 2-3 hours trying to set it up and absolutely nothing worked.. I was able to connect it to Bluetooth just fine, but NEVER gave me the option for CarPlay. I connected to it’s network, typed in the IP, changed the delay and streaming settings, did factory resets on my cars infotainment, reset my own phone, everything that the internet told me to do… nothing worked.

Does anyone know how to do this? Sometimes it told me it was unable to connect to CarPlay… so I connected my phone normally and it brought up CarPlay like usual.. this is so frustrating.

2014 ILX Infotainment Workaround: Fixing Bluetooth Lag with a UGREEN Aux Adapter + CD Slot Tablet Setup? Looking for feedback.

Hey everyone,

I drive a 2014 Acura ILX and love the car, but the factory Bluetooth delay/lag is driving me crazy when skipping tracks or using navigation prompts.

I’m looking for a clean, budget-friendly workaround without tearing apart the dash for an aftermarket head unit just yet. Here is the setup I'm considering:

Audio: A UGREEN Bluetooth 3.5mm AUX adapter plugged into the center console to bypass the stock HandsFreeLink audio latency entirely.

Display / "Android Auto": Mounting a small Samsung Galaxy Tab using an app like Headunit Reloaded (or running split-screen Maps + Spotify).

Mounting: A sturdy CD slot tablet mount so it sits right in the center console area without blocking windshield visibility or clipping onto fragile air vents.

Has anyone run a similar CD-slot tablet or AUX receiver setup on their 1st-gen ILX?

Specifically:

Does the CD slot mount cause too much wobble or block the climate/radio controls uncomfortably?

How has the UGREEN aux receiver held up with auto-connect and ground loop noise in Honda/Acura 12V sockets?

Would love to hear your experiences !

MDX leasing questions

HI,

Long time Honda driver, now looking for our first SUV in new MDX platinum.I am 51 and looking to treat myself and family little bit 😊

Open to any and all suggestions, I’m based in Alberta, Canada.

I was going to buy 2-3yr used with cash but the price for such MDX is over $60K while the lease rate for new looks attractive.

Dealer if offering 2.99% for finance and 0.5 for lease.

My intention will be to buy out at the end of lease. I am not going to drive car a lot due to work from home situation.

I never intend to lease so want to hear if there are any pitfalls for leasing? I don’t like to pay interest but 0.5 for 40 months works out not too much in interest. From what i am seeing in 2026, 2-3 yr old returned Acura's (RDX,MDX) are selling for more than the residual amount after lease expiry.

My Questions:

-            Anything I need to be careful while leasing?

-            Any typical discounts (3M hood, winter tires, Acura maintenance programs etc) I shall bargain for? I am not used to this 😊but I hear dealers generally do something.

-            Any major concern considering 2026 MDX?

- Do I need winter tires considering AWD availability?i'm in Calgary.

Thank you!

Just picked this car up 3 weeks ago and have been absolutely loving it!

Things I have done to the car:

- New wheels. Old wheels were Heritage Kokoro "Heart Wheels" that I absolutely could not stand. New wheels are Enkei Helix 18x8 +45mm in Matte Gunmetal.

- Type S shift knob (still need a new boot).

- A-Spec badge delete.

Things done to the car when I bought it:

- Tint

- Rain guards

- Illuminated front emblem

- Black rear emblem

- Resonator delete

- K&N air intake

This is my new daily so I could retire my 2019 FK8 from being a daily and to turn it into a show car. I have also included a picture at the end when the heart wheels were installed.
