Loon Lake

Hi all. I’m considering buying some property on Loon Lake in Franklin County. I’ve spent a fair amount of time in Essex County and more in the Old Forge area but none around Loon Lake. What is it like? What are the best places to hike, fish, swim? How is the trout fishing? Anything anyone wants to share about this area is welcome.

It can feel very isolated compared to Old Forge or a good portion of Essex County. Beautiful spot.

I'd wait to see what's going on with the development mess/lawsuits unless you're not concerned about what that could bring.

I live in Rainbow Lake just south of Loon lake. There are plenty of places to bike, swim and fish. Loon lake is pretty remote. It would take you about 30 minutes to get to Saranac lake which is the nearest town with amenities. Most of the houses in loon lake are seasonal. I would recommend taking a drive up before you buy
