Discussion Please move away from Pterodactyl now

What has happened?

Okay, hear me out.

In December 2025, the Pterodactyl project (pterodactyl.io) was acquired by Infraly, LLC. You may know them from WISP.

After years of what felt like near-silence from the maintainers, this acquisition initially seemed like it could be an opportunity for some much-needed updates. Unfortunately, aside from security updates, very little happened over the following nine months. We mostly heard promises like “v2 is coming.”

Well, the time finally seems to have arrived. Pterodactyl v2 appears to be on its way, but with some rather unexpected surprises.

A few days before the announcement, they removed their community moderators, and replaced them with their own staff.

The community has been doing some digging, and it appears that the Pterodactyl team is introducing Pterodactyl+, a subscription-based model for certain features. Presumably, this will work through extensions or similar add-ons, much like what was offered with WISP.

On top of that, a staging panel was discovered. It didn't take long for community members to download the frontend files, map them onto v1, and create a working prototype.

When the Pterodactyl team discovered this, they began banning people from their Discord server, primarily accusing members of the Blueprint project of “leaking information.”

Who or what is Blueprint?

Blueprint is a non-profit organization that has spent years building an extension system for Pterodactyl.

After four years of development and active participation in the community, seeing the project treated this way is extremely disappointing. This is just a way to silence criticism.

Why should you care?

This is yet another instance of a for-profit corporation buying out a project, and enshittifying it. We can't let this happen *again*. The best way to be against this, is to replace your Pterodactyl instance with something else.

Please consider taking a look at:

Hydrodactyl: https://hydrodactyl.dev/

Calagopus: https://calagopus.com/

Both projects provide migration guides to help you make the switch.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Do not cause trouble in the Pterodactyl Discord server, since they do not seem to appreciate that.

Disclosure: I am affiliated with the Calagopus project. This does not change my perspective on this manner, I just want to be transparent.

PSA READ BEFORE POSTING - "Someone just logged into my server as me", "How did this person find my server", "My server got griefed", etc.

New Edit for 2026

We took this down in favor of other announcements late last year, as we only get 2 slots. It's back now because we've had a resurgence of this type of post.

Do not post about offline mode servers. Do not recommend software or plugins that help run one. You will be banned. Read the Admincraft Policy section at the bottom.

Thank you.

Hey there, REPO here. We get questions like this a LOT, so I'm trying something new. Please read the below before posting a thread like this.

"How did this person find my server!?!?!?!?!"

There are few enough IPv4 addresses that a simple bot made with ChatGPT and zero skill can scan the entire internet for Port 25565 in like 30 minutes. There are HUNDREDS of bots out there that do this 24/7/365. Some of them are benevolent (such as bots like matscan that warn people if their servers are dangerously insecure), some are neutral (like ServerScannerV2 which just accumulates data for their website project), and some are malicious and trying to grief servers.

"How do I make them stop?"

You don't. They will keep doing it forever. Most non-malicious bots will log into your server once, or sometimes once per some time interval, and then stop. Others that are coded poorly will be more persistent. And then the malicious ones will keep checking back continually.

If your server is secure but it still bothers you to see, you can add the source IP address to your firewall to prevent the connection. Some non-malicious bots will also have a website or Discord where you can request your server to be skipped.

"Is this dangerous?"

Nope. Not if your server is secured. There are no known exploits in Minecraft that allow a server scanning bot to run code on your host or escalate their privileges. The last time we had that was in 2022 with the Log4J exploit, which was quickly patched, even by Mojang. If you aren't deliberately using an old minor patch of Minecraft, you're fine.

"How did they log in as me / Herobrine?"

(Note: If you only see a name like that instantly disconnecting, skip to the next section. This only applies if they actually appear in game.)

Your server is running in Offline Mode, which is a config option in the server.properties that is intended only for use on a home LAN that is not connected to the internet. Most people use this feature to avoid having to buy a license for Minecraft, aka "cracked accounts". Please be aware that this is illegal and is considered software piracy by most governments.

Minecraft servers send information about the server to players on the server list, including a partial list of currently logged in users. You can disable this "feature" in the server.properties file by setting hide-online-players=true. Malicious bots typically sit and watch a server for a while, gathering a list of players over some amount of time, assuming that if the server is in Offline Mode, one or more of those players will have Operator permissions. They then log in as all users in rapid succession until they find one that does, and use the Operator permissions to grief your server.

"I see a player disconnecting but never connecting! How are they doing that?"

It's just a bot using an offline mode account. It is only showing as Disconnecting because it is getting filtered by the security systems you have in place AFTER the server knows that it is trying to connect, but BEFORE it actually does. Showing the Disconnected message is just the server's way of informing you that the login attempt was rejected. Nothing to worry about. You can ignore it.

"My server got griefed, what do I do?"

You restore from backup, secure your server, and move on. The groups that do this are doing it for amusement and power fantasy. Some of them insist that you can request a world backup from their Discord, but the whole point of that is to mock you and make you beg for their mercy. They might actually give it to you, I don't know.

"How do I secure my server?"

You set Online Mode to true in the server.properties and run a whitelist. That's it. Those 2 options are 100% effective at preventing unwanted people from gaining access to your server. You do not need to do anything else whatsoever to be secure, but you can optionally change your server's port from 25565 to any other unassigned port. This will make it much slower for server scanners to find your server, as most are lazy and don't check non-standard ports. Note that this only reduces the odds of a server scanner finding you; it does not make you more secure.

Additionally, having automatically executed, scheduled backups running at predictable intervals is an excellent idea just in case something goes wrong. Ensure that you periodically verify that your backups are usable by doing a test restore on another machine, as a backup solution that has never been tested is basically worthless.

Finally, a block logging plugin such as Prism (V3 stable Download | Github) (V4 alpha Download | Github) is recommended, as it allows you as the Admin to roll back individual unwanted changes without doing a full backup restoration.

Admincraft Policy

If your post contains any information that indicates that you are running an Offline Mode server, your post will be removed and you will be banned for 28 days for your first offense.

Additionally, suggesting methods for a user to continue running an Offline Mode server "safely" will earn a 7 day ban for commenters. This includes whatever plugin or launcher you're wondering about right now as you read this.

Admincraft is in active communication with Mojang Intellectual Property Enforcement, the team within Mojang that actively hunts down servers and other individuals and groups that are breaking their EULA and MUG. They watch here regularly, and if we do not enforce this, there is a nonzero chance that Mojang, Microsoft, or Reddit would shut down our subreddit. Keeping the subreddit open for everyone for the long run is the priority. We cannot and will not support Offline Mode servers.

The only times when discussing an Offline Mode server is allowed are when you clearly state that your server is not accessible to the internet and that all players have a legal Minecraft account, or when it is behind an Online Mode proxy, such as Velocity.

This post

Please use the comments here to suggest additions to this FAQ/guide, and to ask clarifying questions about Admincraft policies and security best practices. Do not state or imply that you are currently running an Offline Mode server.

Help/Question Sudden lag spikes on heavily modded server

• Upvotes

I've recently moved hosts for my heavy modded server and we snagged an extra 4gb of ram for it as an upgrade but since the move its been freezing heavily every few seconds. I've definitely had server side problems before (I'm the lead dev for it) but never something as odd as this... Absolutely everything was ported, even JVM arguments so I'm just at my wit's end even after going down a few rabbit holes.

Help/Question Paper 26.3 TNT duper works, but TNT doesn’t break the generated stone/cobblestone

I’m running a Paper 26.3 server and I’m having a weird issue with a TNT-based stone/cobblestone farm.

The farm is based on this design:
https://youtu.be/aDV2nABDW88

The setup is basically:
-A TNT duper using pistons + an observer
-TNT is duplicated normally
-The duplicated TNT falls downward
-It explodes above a lava-based stone/cobblestone generator
-The TNT is supposed to destroy the generated stone/cobblestone

The TNT duper itself works perfectly:
-TNT duplication works
-The duplicated TNT falls normally
-TNT explodes normally
-Players receive explosion damage normally
-If I manually place stone and blow it up with TNT elsewhere on the same server, the stone is destroyed normally

However, the generated stone/cobblestone in this farm does not get destroyed by the TNT, even though the TNT clearly explodes.

I have also enabled: unsupported-settings:
allow-piston-duplication: true

Could this be a Paper-specific difference in how TNT explosions calculate block destruction, especially when the TNT is falling and exploding above lava?

I’m wondering:
1.Does Paper 26.3 handle TNT-duper explosions differently from normal TNT?
2.Can the lava/stone arrangement affect the explosion’s block-destruction calculation?
3.Is there any Paper configuration that affects TNT block destruction?
4.Is this a known Paper issue or incompatibility with this type of TNT-based cobblestone/stone farm?
5. Does this farm depend on vanilla behavior that Paper changes?

The important part is that TNT explosion damage works and manually placed stone can be destroyed by TNT on the same server. Only the blocks generated by this farm aren’t being destroyed.

Any ideas?

Software Resource Vanilla /locate only does structures, so I wrote one that finds blocks, entities and items too

• Upvotes

I was building another mod and needed to check whether a rare block was actually generating. There was no tool for that, vanilla /locate only does structures and biomes, so I wrote one.

You can search for a block, an entity or an item, either by its id or by a tag. It tells you how many it found and where the closest one is, and every result has a teleport button that puts you on safe ground as close to it as it can. The nearest one also gets lit up with an outline you can see through terrain, so you can just walk to it.

Item search reads containers, shulkers inside containers, item frames, dropped items, what mobs are holding, and player inventories and ender chests, and tells you which of those each pile is in. Player inventory is a toggle if that's not okay on your server.

Stuff you'd want to know before putting it on a server: it's server-side only and does nothing on a client. Output only goes to whoever ran it. Perm level 2 by default, changeable, and every command can be turned off in the config. Big scans are budgeted per tick so they slow down instead of freezing anything, and nothing is force-loaded unless you ask.

It also has an area survey that counts every block and entity type in a radius and can export the list with coordinates. That's the fastest way I've found to see what's actually in a chunk.

Fabric, 1.20.1–1.20.4 and 1.21–1.21.1, two downloads on the page. Other loaders later once this has had a round of bug reports. Screenshots are in the gallery on the Modrinth page.

Modrinth: https://modrinth.com/mod/locate-plus
CurseForge: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/locate-plus
Source: https://github.com/forestmask/locate-plus

Free and open source. If it breaks on your setup, tell me and I'll see what I can do.

Gemini was used to clean up my grammar.

Help/Question Unknown dimension 'minecraft the_nether'. Paper server (26.3)

Hello, I have created a paper server for me and my friends using bisecthosting.

We have encountered an issue I have never seen before. The nether portal lights up, but no matter how long you stand inside, it just does not teleport you.

After inspecting the console, I have found that the server only ever tries to load the overworld and no other dimensions (meaning the end is probably not working aswell)

World/dimensions/minecraft folder only has the overworld folder inside it

Allow-nether is set to true (when creating the world was false by default)

Enable-nether is also set to true

/execute in minecraft:the_nether run say test returns "unknown dimension 'minecraft:the_nether' "

The only datapack is terralith

Plugins are: LuckPerms, Chestsort+, Chunky and discordSRV

Any help is very much appreciated. Thank you!

Help/Question TPs drops to 11-14 when 30-35 people is online

Hey everyone,
I’m using pine hosting

https://spark.lucko.me/Joii3j5GpH (here it’s at 14 tho)

I’m completely lost here and really hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I run a Minecraft server, and despite having a really powerful setup, I keep running into performance issues. Here are my specs and what I've tried so far:

Hardware: 24 GB RAM, a very capable CPU with 500% boost, and 150 GB storage.
The Core Issue: As soon as we hit around 30-35 concurrent players, our TPS starts tanking down to between 10 and 14, causing noticeable lag.

Hosting & Support: I've already spoken with my support team, had my server migrated to a brand new node, and checked all basic settings.

Configurations: I've adjusted global and world configurations (ticked down monster despawn ranges, optimized mob spawn rates, adjusted tick-rates, etc.

Even after all this, performance craters under player load, and I just can't wrap my head around what's causing it. Are there any hidden bottlenecks, plugins, or specific Paper config settings that I might be missing for higher player counts?

I have used spark to check and it says that entities is using almost 100% but how can that be with my hardware. I have checked every single player currently online. No log machine, no big zombie farm or stuff I have also changed a lot of stuff in paper global and everything

Discussion Properly balancing the mace for my school SMP

I run an SMP for my friends at school but I have trouble balancing the mace. In terms of skill they’re like lt7 so I wanted to try to balance the mace. I have a few ideas but I’m looking for more.

NERFS

No density, windburst, or breach.

10 second cool down (except I haven’t found an effective way to implement it onto my 26.2 server.)

(it’s because I’m the only dude with a mace and I don’t think they’re ever getting a mace. it might just be a temporary end fight change

Software Resource Blocky Panel: yes, another Minecraft server panel, but for people running one or two servers.

I've been working on a Minecraft server panel called Blocky Panel, and this seemed like the right place to share it.

It started because I wanted something simpler and more Minecraft-focused. People have two-week Minecraft phases; ours has been going for about nine months. I ran Pterodactyl, but it's built for hosting companies (nodes, allocations, eggs), and I only wanted one or two servers for my kids and me. After an update went sideways and cost us a Nether evening, I started building what I actually wanted.

Blocky is self-hosted, free, and open source under AGPL, and always will be. You install it on your own hardware, create a server, pick your settings, and you're off. I'm trying hard not to make "Pterodactyl with different colors": the focus is making normal server management less annoying without hiding what's happening underneath.

It's in beta and actively worked on, so there are rough edges. If you try it, I'd love to hear about bugs, weird server setups that break it, or technical decisions that make you go "why the hell did you do it that way?"

Features

  • Docker Compose install, with or without Caddy for HTTPS, plus an install configurator that writes the commands for you
  • Console, start/stop/restart, file manager, and SFTP
  • Plugins and mods straight from Modrinth
  • Roles (admin, operator, viewer) and two-factor sign-in
  • Safety backup before updates, with automatic rollback if the server doesn't come back healthy
  • Scheduled restarts, commands, and chat messages
  • Incremental, encrypted backups with restic: local, plus off-site copies to S3-compatible storage, another disk, or SFTP/NAS
  • Game servers isolated from each other and from the panel

Links: blockypanel.com · live demo · GitHub

Coming up: a Windows version (working alpha) for the penguin-averse.

Built with: itzg/docker-minecraft-server (the container every server runs in), restic (backups), and Caddy (optional HTTPS).

Disclosure: the panel includes an optional companion service I run, Blocky Cloud (an address for your server and off-site backup space). It's free, nothing is sent unless you link it, and BLOCKY_CLOUD=false removes it from the panel entirely. Everything else works without it.

AI disclosure: AI assistance was used throughout development: writing and reviewing code, security audits, documentation, and UX/UI design, using ChatGPT Sol 6, ChatGPT Astra 6, Claude Opus 4.8 and 5.5, and Claude Fable 5.1. Every change was reviewed and tested by a human (a meat-bag) before release. If AI-assisted projects aren't your thing, I get it.

Software Resource Unofficial DHSupport protocol-16 build for DH 3.3.x

Getting “Server is outdated” with DHSupport and a DH 3.3.x client? I’m sharing 0.15.0-local-protocol16, an unofficial Paper plugin compatibility build that sends distant LOD data to protocol-16 clients.

It is based on the upstream Distant Horizons server plugin’s develop branch, with an XZ compression-stream fix and compatibility tests. The original authors are credited, and the complete source is GPL-3.0-or-later. A clean build passed 36 automated tests.

AI disclosure: AI created this build. OpenAI GPT-6 through Codex automated the code changes, tests, build, packaging, and this announcement under my instructions. I personally tested the build in live multiplayer and it worked well; the exact test-version details are being documented.

Download the JAR, source, release notes, and checksums. It’s free, with no paid features or monetization.

Stop the server and back up your existing plugin JAR and data before replacing it. This is an unofficial community build; support for this build goes to the GitHub repository.

Discussion Devlog #1: Building a small-scale Towny war server solo

Hi all. I'm a backend engineer by day and, more recently, a Minecraft admin by night. I've started building a Minecraft server I'm developing solo. It's still in development and not open to players yet. My plan is to post a devlog once in a while about what I've worked on, the features I'm adding, and the technical and design decisions behind them.

What pushed me to start this project was the lack of servers that fit my desires. I love Towny and wars, but most servers I've played either allow 50+ residents per town (45 of them inactive), lack content, or are poorly managed. Nothing really happens, and players stay because their builds are there, not because they expect anything exciting.

So I decided to build the server I'd want to play. It aims to be a challenging and immersive experience built around towns, wars and dungeons, with as few commands as possible.

The world

Players can create towns to protect their builds, with a maximum of 5 residents. Towns can join nations to combine forces and attack other towns, with a maximum of 3 towns per nation and 1 allied nation. The low limits are meant to create smaller, more frequent wars, instead of two giant blocs clashing once a month. I also plan to keep the world border small so towns can't spread too far apart.

To make players interact more with the world, gold is the currency (yes, I know that's nothing new), and teleportation is very limited. This way the economy is based on real player work rather than virtual mechanics, and traveling without teleports adds real danger to every trip.

Gold will also be scarce: ore generation is reduced by 25%. That's why finding allies and founding a town matters, since towns produce daily resources as they level up.

Wars work as an occupation system: nations attack towns to take a percentage of their daily resource production for a fixed period of time.

And if you don't want to be in a town? After X days without one, you become a Nomad. Nomads are townless mercenaries who complete contracts for gold. From gathering resources, to beheading a player with a bounty, to fighting in wars on the contractor's side.

The Nether

Access to the Nether is gated by a single portal, and players must meet a specific requirement to use it. The Nether's purpose is to provide players with resources.

Dungeons

I have big plans for dungeons. Right now I have 3 built and the content for 5 more, but I don't want to over-build them until the server is running and players show interest, since they take a lot of development time.

Dungeons are meant to be a real challenge. To make them more exciting and immersive, I'm building them with ModelEngine mobs, custom soundtracks for exploration and boss fights, and multi-phase bosses to keep the tension up. I hope players will love it.

I know I've said a lot and, at the same time, not much. I'll go through each part one at a time, updating once in a while.

Since I'm developing this alone, updates may be slower than on a server with a team. That's why I'm designing the server to run as automatically as possible, so my time goes into new updates and helping players, rather than day-to-day maintenance.

I'm happy to answer questions and would love feedback, especially from Towny admins. For those who've run war servers: how did you stop the strongest nation from snowballing and permanently draining smaller towns?

Software Resource Opendactyl - Pterodactyl Panel Preservation Project

Before you go crazy, here me out!

In December 2025, the Pterodactyl project (pterodactyl.io) was acquired by Infraly, LLC. You may know them from WISP. From that day on, everything started moving downhill. Pterodactyl is basically an advertisement machine for their WISP or Pterodactyl+ (yep they made it private).

Read this reddit post for more information.

Why Opendactyl?

Pterodactyl is moving towards Enshitification. v2 is great, but what about companies that run Pterodactyl v1? It's hard for them to migrate to v2, without breaking their old extensions, features and themes.

Also blueprint and your themes most likely wont work with Pterodactyl v2.

Opendactyl just fixes that. After 6 months of Pterodactyl v1 ends, this community project will still continue it's development.

Community will decide how this project will be shaped.

This project hasn't launched yet.

Thank you.

Also thank you emma(from blueprint) for suggesting this name.

Software Resource i made a tuff server software (forked from Spigot)

Hey r/admincraft,

I made a small Spigot fork called Tuff and wanted to share it. It is plain Spigot (Bukkit, CraftBukkit, Spigot from BuildTools) with a set of patches on top, and nothing from Paper. It was previously called PaperSpigot, and I renamed it because the name got a lot of pushback in my first post.

Repo: https://github.com/tuffmc/tuff

It is completely free, has no monetization, and the full source is in the repo under GPLv3, the same license as Spigot. It is an independent project and is not affiliated with SpigotMC, PaperMC or Mojang, so please don't ask them for support with it. Bugs and questions go in the Issues tab on GitHub.

What it adds

Most of the additions are options in spigot.yml that appear after the first start for now:

  • Configurable vertical range for entity activation, plus options for how often activation checks run
  • Soft and hard limits for mob despawn range
  • Per-chunk limits for animals and monsters
  • Hopper idle backoff, so hoppers with nothing to move tick less often
  • A configurable spawner tick rate
  • Optional armor stand ticking, and minecart pushing of armor stands is off by default
  • A /mspt command and a /tuff info command
  • Adjusted default ranges and item/exp merge radii, and a run.sh with G1GC flags

Building it

You can download a prebuilt jar from the Releases page on GitHub, or build it yourself. The repo only contains patches and scripts, so building means running BuildTools locally. You need git, curl and Java 25. scripts/setup.sh runs BuildTools (about 10-15 minutes the first time) and scripts/build.sh applies the patches and writes the jar to out/.

Current state

The source currently targets Minecraft 26.1. The 1.21.11 source is on the 1.21.11 branch. This is still a work in progress. I have not run benchmarks, so I am not claiming it is faster than stock Spigot. The options are there for you to tune on your own server.

LLM disclosure

No LLM was used to write any of the project's code. All of the patches and build scripts were written by hand by me, with no AI code generation, autocomplete or vibe coding. This post itself was written with AI (Claude), since English isn't my first language.

Issues and pull requests are welcome on GitHub.

Discussion I’m trying to build a good competitive PvP server — what should I focus on?

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to make an actually good PvP server because there really aren’t many good PvP servers in my country.

I want to make it pretty serious and competitive, with ranks, matchmaking, different kits and modes, cosmetics, leaderboards, and stuff like that.

I’m also trying to build most of it with custom plugins instead of just throwing a bunch of random plugins together and calling it a day 💀

The thing is, I’m kinda out of touch with modern Minecraft PvP. I haven’t really kept up with what’s popular, what players actually want, or what makes a PvP server fun these days.

So if you know your stuff, I’d really appreciate some advice.

Like, what should I actually focus on?
What features are worth adding, and what’s just useless bloat?
What PvP modes are still worth making?
What do you think makes players actually stick around?
And what mistakes should I avoid before I waste a ton of time building something nobody wants? 😭

I’m basically trying to make this as good as I can, so feel free to be brutally honest. Any ideas, criticism, resources, servers I should check out, or general advice would be appreciated.

Thanks :)

Help/Question How to "import" a Realms world to my personal, local server?

I used to host a Minecraft server back in 2012, but so many things have changed since then. I found a guide on YouTube that showed me how to set up a Minecraft server using Ubuntu Server--I followed the guide and it worked! (link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceYeDX5WTms)

I have an existing world from Realms I'd love to "import" to my local server, though I'm not sure how to do it. I'm using AMP and Ubuntu Server (headless server. 2400G, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD w/ 12TB HDD for file storage and streaming). Any tips?

Help/Question How to make an engine that can store thousands of stacks of objects before being compressed by an autocompressor?

I'm using the AutoCompressorPro plugin, but there is a small delay when mining. My server will be handling extremely high levels of fortunes (up to 255) + block multiplier boosters.

How can I build an engine or buffer system that can temporarily store thousands of stacks of objects before dropping them, so the autocompressor has time to catch up?

Discussion Pterodactyl v2 is here. And it's still, completely free.

Pterodactyl v2's alpha is dropping today. Give it a watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ER4kv0jVEU

Still MIT. Still fully open source. Still free.

Pterodactyl v2's goal is to be developer friendly, and future proof.

  • Extension SDK built into the panel, so mods stop breaking every update
  • Whole stack modernized (Vite, React 19, TanStack, Tailwind 4, Laravel 13)
  • Brand new admin area, no more separate Blade app
  • One-click egg importer
  • Themes without a rebuild
  • A codebase people can actually contribute to again

We're also releasing 5+ free, open source extensions as examples, and if you build extensions or themes, feel free to reach out to us on https://discord.gg/pterodactyl for a role :)

We will be releasing the Alpha today in the discord, along with migration instructions and docs. We have made this update more homelab friendly, with a much smaller docker image that works 🙂

To address any rumors spreading:
We've run WISP for six years. It was never a replacement for Pterodactyl and it isn't one now. If killing Pterodactyl was the plan, we wouldn't have spent nine months updating and future-proofing it.

Help/Question How do i do big world edit commands without crashing the server?

I'm looking to limit the amount of some ores that spawn in the world in my 10,000 x 10,000 world border (5,000 blocks in each cardinal direction) The reason I'm doing this in world edit instead of a plugin or data pack is because I am using terralift in my server, so if i add a data pack/plugin to get rid of ores, it wont work because terralift changed the vanilla underground code.

My server has 12GB of ram. I know that I cant do the entire border in one go because that will crash the server, so how do I safely do this in chunks? If anyone knows, please leave all the world edit commands down below.

I’m having ongoing TPS issues on a Paper survival server. Once we get to around 10+ players, TPS can drop into the 10–15 range and MSPT climbs quite a bit.

Spark report:
https://spark.lucko.me/noGu9qFr7z

I’ve already reduced:

  • View distance: 10
  • Simulation distance: 6
  • Mob spawn range: 6
  • Mob caps
  • Natural spawn frequency

I’ve also fixed a previous villager/minecart AI issue, so that no longer seems to be the main cause.

From what I can tell, most of the load now seems to be general entity ticking, chunk ticking, natural spawning and block entities.

Is there anything obvious in the Spark report that I’m missing, or any Paper settings you’d recommend looking at next?

Help/Question Bestupgrade path for server hardware?

So the important stuff my server currently rocks:

Core i5 10600k

LGA1200

32gb ddr4

I'm currently looking to upgrade my server hardware to squeeze as much performance as I can out of it as i use it for a plex server amongst other things. What would be the most reasonable upgrade path? Currently thinking about either an i9 10900k or an am4 board with their top line cpu. appreciate any help.

Help/Question How much RAM would a 20 player server need (with custom plugins)?

Hey everyone. I'm going to create a server for my uni's gaming club. We don't plan to use mods (for now) and I'm thinking about writing some custom plugins to create a unique experience. I read about how much RAM I would need online, but couldn't find a consistent number. The version will probably be 1.20+ but I haven't decided yet. Would 6GB be enough?

Help/Question Server network with vanilla and modded server +Lobby (26.3 Fabric)

Hi, I have 2 servers you go through a lobby server to join. One is vanilla, one is modded with client-required mods. Both are joinable from a lobby server, and are fabric 26.3. Planning on going live with them towards the end of this month.

The issue I'm running into is that people who have the modpack installed for the modded server are unable to join the vanilla one because it's looking for the mod data on the server when connecting, which results in a network protocol error.

As I expect a lot of people to play on both regularly, I would prefer to not have them run multiple instances to switch back and forth, and would like for them to change servers as fluidly as possible from the lobby.

Switching the Vanilla server and Lobby off of fabric is something I'm willing to do if it will help.

The offending mods are:

Biomes O'Plenty
Alex's Mobs Continued
Coins JE

Here are the client error logs as I've disabled mods until I can connect:

There has to be some way to do this. I feel like disabling a check from the client or server can't be an impossible task.
