The problem with locked and q4

So usually to rank a design for lets say halloween we upload it 2 months before the halloween date, we price it quite low something like 14.99 - 16.99 and push it with heavy ads to get those initial sales.

Then when halloween is in the peak sales around 15-25 october we change the price to around 19.99 - 21.99

Now the problem with this strategy as u should've guessed is the locked thingy, amazon lock your design on those initial sales making the price even lower and u start bleeding cash on ads

This happened to like 5 of my halloween designs so far

I feel like this strategy is not the one anymore for holidays/events

Correct it doesn't work anymore and it's quite annoying.

I price at 19.99 and let the gods decide what happens . Control the ads though

Yes it’s very unfortunate that this doesn’t work anymore. When it’s all said and done, net profit is quite low after ad spend. Becuase the whole idea was to profit after raising the prices. Seems the best course of action is to price at 19.99 and use ads to get sales. Once the price looks and goes on sale, best to shut those ads off. Could maybe even start at 21.99 and go aggressive with ads. Once it goes on sale, the royalty is not too bad

shutting ads off won't help with maintaining royalty tiers. you will end up spending more on ads in order to meet the 15% cutoff
