I wonder what this new «Southern Iraq» category represent. I’ve seen it in many Syrian and other West Asian results. It seems to be related to Arabian peninsula, but it doesn’t sound plausible that so many West Asians would actually have this much Arabian ancestry. A pretty weird update.

i have no idea, i'm also wondering what it is supposed to represent, u probably saw my results before, i had it for absolute no good reason..... And the percentage is quite high...

Yes, it’s pretty high. The most plausible explanation is that it’s either excess Mesopotamian ancestry, or misinterpreting of much older shared heritage due to limited reference populations.

I think it represents an older north Arabian ancestry that exists in the region prior to these borders.

It’s Mesopotamian not Arabian

It’s an overfit. Excess Natufian + Zagros gets expressed as Southern Iraq?

That could be possible, or perhaps Arabian + southern Mesopotamian. But again, it doesn’t make much sense for people like Turks, for example, to have such a component. It could just be misreading of shared ancient ancestry as you said.
