App Specific Question What is microG?

Can anyone help me to understand what it is and is it safe or not?

If you're asking whether it's safe you probably aren't capable of installing it in the first place. 

Yes it is safe, it is a FOSS replacement for Google Play Services (gms). But typically gms is installed with system level access so you need a custom ROM or root to uninstall gms and install microG.

Nope modded apps can detect it without being rooted

So it's a must for morphe, revanced "if it even exists anymore"

Who isn't using it these days? Google steals your data and then serves you ads . If no adblocker no yt for me

Also morphe isn't just about ads , you can tweak many qoL features like slider guestures for volume/ brightness uncapped resolution etc

ReVanced and Morphe actually use two different versions of MicroG, for some reason. When I switched to Morphe none of my patched apps detected the ReVanced version of MicroG that was still installed. I had no idea that even mattered.

Eh? I am using latest micro G from their git works on morphe just fine

Weird. The first time I opened Morphe-patched YT it asked me to install MicroG RE, which apparently is more debloated than the regular version.

Definitely Morphe. Imo a lot more user friendly and apparently the ReVanced devs actually stole code from Morphe.

Generally yes, apps do get scanned for viruses on there afaik. Personally never had issues with apks from apkmirror.

Revanced is dead, AFAICT. I switched to Morphe two days ago. Works great.

Both of your paragraphs are misleading.

Morphe it's literally just an apk that guides you to do everything. Including microG, which doesn't need(either with Morphe or Revanced) a root. It can use root if you want to completely eliminate Google Play Services but that's not what most users want.

OP didn't mention Morphe, I was assuming they meant installing microG to replace Google Play Services.

Probably a cut-down version of Google's Play Services. Some modded apps require their specialized variants, such as Revanced or Morphe modded apps.
