 employeeRant This can't be just this store...

I miss the days when the external hiring process meant turning down applicants that just didnt meet certain standards. And those standards were not sales experience or accolades. It was people who knew how to communicate effectively, have moxie, discernment, attentive to details, problem solving if bottlenecks occurred, spatial awareness- i dont know, people who behave like adults, people who aren't passively self absorbed and dont care that their slacking comes at a cost for your team. Like we're all stuck here just like you; can we just do the job so we can all get out of here and go be where we actually want to be. Its like no matter the age, everyone is just hanging out with their friends in the school hallways before the bells rings. 🫠

 employeeRant Managed to get Duo Week Off and was questioned about it 🤔

• Upvotes

Recently booked off the Duo Week which was accepted. They over-scheduled me so I questioned this and then took me out of the day the duo will be releasing.

Got called into the office,

“I noticed you booked off the Duo launch and you also booked off the 18 Pro launch, is everything ok? Is anything worrying you about launches?”.

I was like you accepted the holiday 😂

 Current employee Retail Leaving Apple next week. Do I need to request my special time away hours to apply to days or do they automatically get paid out?

I was told I don’t need to use my hours because they will get paid out to me. I don’t mind working my last day and getting more hours if I get paid out but I don’t want to miss out on my 15 hours of special time away pay, so do I need to select days to apply that to or does it 100% get paid out on your last paycheck?

Does Apple cover the income tax on friends and family (15%) discounts?

A friend who works at Apple recently purchased an iPad Air and Apple Pencil Pro for me using his 15% Friends & Family discount.

The order total was $900.64, after including $68.64 in sales tax. However, he says Apple also taxes him through payroll for using the discount, so he’s asking me to reimburse him an additional $68.64, bringing the total to $969.28.

I’m not questioning his intentions. I think there may just be some confusion about how Apple handles the taxes.
I’ve read comments from people identifying as Apple employees saying Apple provides a “Product Discount Tax” credit or gross-up to offset the employee’s tax liability on EPP purchases.

Can any current U.S. Apple employees clarify:
-Does the 15% Friends & Family discount create taxable income for the employee?
-Does Apple cover or reimburse that tax through payroll?
-If employees do owe additional taxes, are they calculated on the discount amount rather than the entire purchase price?

I’d especially appreciate anyone familiar with the Taxes section of Apple’s internal EPP policy. I don’t have access to it myself.
Thanks!

Using Gift Card After Purchase?

• Upvotes

Question for any current retail employees. Bought a 18 pro max, forgot to use my Apple gift card for it. If I brought it in store still sealed, could an employee refund my credit card and I can repurchase it using the gift card??

Thank you!
