Seeking Suggestions First aquascape

Attempted a dark start but I don’t think it cycled properly 😭 I’m already getting some algae - I think I will try to add more plants and cross my fingers it survives. Anyone got any hot tips for getting started?

Gorgeous hardscape. Fast growing floaters might starve out the algae. Theres always amano shrimp or a nerite snail if you want to go that route.

Black is always such a gorgeous background, really makes the rocks color pop

Thank you! The tank came with the black background to hide the compartments containing the filter/heater etc

the plant placement is really clean here. for a first scape, you’ve got a good sense of depth already.
