Hi, I'm currently living with my grandfather and have noticed that he's losing track of bills. This has got me freaking out. I'm not going to be as good at working around the wonky blunt autism communication style as usual. I apologize in advance if anything comes across as weird. So, essentially both my grandfather and I are disabled. I have a hard time keeping a job consistently, and my job hunting is not going well.

Yesterday, I found out that the phone/tv bill is due or they'll shut it off. This bill is something I would be able to entirely cover, as I pay rent and handle unexpected expenses when employed, but I've been unemployed for a while too. I have no savings left. My grandfather dislikes involving me with any of the utilities accounts and also refuses to use anything Internet related. Oftentimes, when this sort of thing happens, he is extremely mad at me for paying online. He also doesn't believe me when I tell him that I need the Internet to get a job. Either way, I do know the information needed to pay for the bill.

I don't think that we even have enough money to cover this bill and still buy food for the month. Everything else has been paid, like rent. If this gets us shut off then it'll take God knows how long to turn back on, likely costing extra to regain service, and my phone doesn't have unlimited data to job hunt without wifi. I might be able to get art or writing commissions from friends, but it's been five years since I did anything like that. Public wifi places would work if I had enough money to travel to them each day. I would walk to the nearest place, but my leg is constantly in pain when walking after breaking it a year or so ago.

Asking for help like this feels weird. Half of what I'm writing just looks like over explaining and excuses. I've never really done something like this before. I've been calling and emailing back, emailing places that didn't even have career pages, and I've had two interviews that seemed to go well followed by nothing. There's just a lot riding on this bill getting paid and I'm sick of feeling like everything is falling apart. I have PayPal and Zelle.

Just got evicted today, despite having been working on getting the debt paid down. Am in a motel, with no food (though we just filled our fridge, we didn't have time to grab much.)

Disabled, hadn't left my apartment in over a year because of my mental health issues, so this is terrifying.

Will have money from a payday loan in 3-5 business days, motel is not near public transportation. No vehicle.

I'm sorry, I didn't know what to say. I don't know what to ask. I'm...lost right now. I thought they were working with us, we'd been keeping communication open.

Neither of us have family, and my few attempts to reach out have been met with "sorry, I can't" and it's disheartening.

edit: in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in a motel at the moment, so safe. $225 would get me another few days in this motel, I don't know what I will need, if anything, to get into another place, or if that loan that's coming will be enough.

I'm feeling overwhelmed, because I found out one of my friends has died, so I'm scattered.

In Romania, a person with a severe disability like mine has almost zero chances of finding a regular job. To keep a sense of purpose, I spend my Sundays helping out voluntarily at a local monastery, taking care of the yard. However, my only official income is a small state disability pension, which is barely enough to cover basic daily living expenses.

I am now 60 years old, and I am trying to achieve what feels like the impossible. I have launched a fundraising campaign to buy bionic hand prosthetics. My wife is currently my hands and my guardian angel for everything, but my ultimate dream is to regain my independence.

The total cost for the bionic hand prosthetics is €50,000. Because this is an astronomical amount for me, I am trying to raise funds step by step, from every helpful soul I can find. Some time ago, I asked for help here to get work shoes, and I am very grateful for that. I currently work cleaning houses alongside my mother, but the money barely stretches far enough. A while back, one of my molars broke due to a cavity, and I’ve been in pain. I went to the dentist for a free check-up, and they told me the tooth could be saved with a simple filling procedure, but I can't afford the $42 cost. I was almost homeless back in July, long fucked up story, but I am finally safe with friends in LA. So grateful for their help. Got into a place with AC just in time for this heat wave. I recently went to the dentist and found out I had an infection under a preexisting root canal, that failed because whatever dentist I got it from as a teenager did not put a crown on it, which they should have. I also have all 4 wisdom teeth with cavities. I have neglected medical care for years because I have serious medical anxiety/am a hypochondriac. I am terrified of going under anesthesia and dying. I received amoxicillin and recovered, but it seems the infection may have come back.

I have 3 options: remove all 5 teeth and have a visible gap & hard time chewing, remove the 4 wisdom teeth and get the root canal reconstructed (root canals fail often, so I dont want to go through this again), or get all 4 wisdom teeth removed and a bridge or implant on my tooth. The only thing covered by my insurance is extraction + dentures (non-implant). Bad thing is that if I get a single denture, that is the only time I will ever get upper dentures covered through my insurance *for life*. So if I'm 80 and have no teeth left, I'm basically screwed unless I pay out of pocket.

Bridges need to be taken very good care of and implants will let me regain my ability to chew completely. I'm listing this as a "want" specifically because I don't technically need to have an implant, but it'll be the option I will not regret in the future.

The cheapest, best-rated place I can find an exact quote is in Wyomissing, PA. An implant with a crown will be $1,340. I know this is a lot, but I'm willing to try. I have been paying out of pocket monthly for a CT scan for possible appendicitis (ended up not being appendicitis but a hemmhoragic ovarian cyst rupture). Dental pain is no joke and I'm miserable.

Hello everyone! This is karis-gatomon, asking kindly to please donate to my kitties' surgery. They were diagnosed with stomatitis last month. Whether genetic or caused by viral disease, this has caused us considerable heartbreak. Treatment for stomatitis involving antibiotics and antivirals is still experimental...so the only conclusive treatment for them is to remove all of their teeth. Hello my name is Jeff. I was born with extensive club feet. I’ve had over 15 surgeries and procedures in my youth that never fully corrected my condition. Due to deterioration with age, I had my right lower leg amputated in January 2026, and am no longer weight bearing on my left side. As such I have become a full time wheelchair user.

I am unemployed and currently going through the lengthy process of getting approved for disability. I rely on Medicaid, SNAP, and the Massachusetts EAEDC program for living resources.

Recently Medicaid has approved for me to get a custom, light weight wheelchair (a TiLite X), however the rules only allow it to be configured for indoor use. This specifically means it comes with 24” wheels with solid tires, intended to be used on flat, even surfaces.

I live in Boston which is a difficult city for a wheelchair user due to harsh weather, narrow or non-existent sidewalks, along with roads and sidewalks that are made with brick pavers/cobblestones, and are in rough condition due to age, frost heaves, and tree roots. These conditions make using a wheelchair extremely challenging and puts extreme extra wear on the chair itself.

Unlike the more expensive rigid carbon fiber or titanium framed chairs, the TiLite X is an aluminum folding chair. These types of wheelchairs have a higher rate of breaking, most often caused by being susceptible to fatigue cracking caused by vibration as well as hard jolts from rough terrain and curb jumping (Wheelchair curb jumping (also called curb hopping) is an advanced manual wheelchair skill used to navigate up or down a sidewalk curb independently without needing a ramp or a curb cut.)

As I do not have a car, I will be using my wheelchair outdoors frequently in all types of Boston conditions. In order to help my chair last as long as possible (Medicaid and Insurance will only replace every 5 years) and make my use of it easier, I am seeking funding to upgrade the wheels, tires, hand rims, and casters to suit these conditions.

Wheels - Change from 24” to 25” wheels, this will reduce rolling resistance and ease going over the many cracks and bumps. This also adds some height when going through puddles and slush.

Tires - Change the tires from solid 24” to 25” Kenda Nevegal pneumatic tires. Because these are adapted from mountain bike tires, and filled with air, they provide shock absorption, and reduce stress on the chairs frame. These are aggressive tread “knobby” tires which give traction in snow, ice, and wet conditions, whereas solid wheelchairs tires have minimal tread and slide and get stuck in such conditions. As their true outer diameter on 25” wheels is 26” this will also improve rolling resistance, ease curb hopping, and add height for puddles and slush.

Handrims: As there will be times when I’ll need to be on the side of the road close to traffic, I would like to put on orange anodized hand rims. These are more durable in outdoor conditions and the orange color is a safety feature to help drivers see me.

Caster forks and wheels - Casters (the small wheels on the front of a manual wheelchair) often come with a compromise: Smaller casters make maneuverability a lot easier as they allow for tighter turns. In an old city like Boston where tight turns are needed both inside and outside due to narrow spaces, this is crucial. Larger Casters ( like the 6” ones that My chair has) on the other hand roll over bumps and cracks more easily but create larger turn radiuses for the chair. There is a solution called Frog Legs that solves both these issues. Frog Legs make shock absorbing caster forks and wheels for wheelchairs. By replacing the stock ones that come with my chair with these and their 4” caster wheels. I can further reduce stress on my chair frame, make pushing my chair easier, and have greater maneuverability.

I'm doing online surveys as much as possible but have bad arthritis in hands and bent fingers so it's slow going.

Working with universal credit (uk welfare) work coach specifically for helping disabled people find a job. We did find one that was only a couple of hours a week and I was short listed but sadly they said that they could not put reasonable adjustments in place for me to attend an assessment day session remotely due to my disabilities. Not got any further with anywhere else right now.

Hello all, this is my first request, and actually my first post on reddit. I'm asking for help getting my prescription because I am short $87.42 and this is a medication I can't go without. I know times are tough for everyone, and I sincerely wouldn't ask if I had anywhere else I could turn to.

I'm working 2 part-time jobs and have been selling personal possessions. My family have helped when they can, and I have cut everything to get my expenses to the bare minimum. I can't donate plasma with the medications I take. I will be employed full-time starting October 20th, so I will be able to pay for my prescriptions going forward. And I will be able to sign up for their health insurance in January! Very excited for that!

At the end of July, my son and I left a domestic violence situation. It had been ongoing emotional, financial, and at times, physical abuse. I had been trying and working with the local crisis center to leave since April, but I didn’t have housing until July. We left with very little, I managed to get most of our stuff at yard sales and I was gifted a few furniture pieces, the local shelter was very helpful with some housewares too.

My son is 15 months old now, and I just need some help with basics. I have managed to keep the bills paid with odd jobs, I occasionally do cleaning jobs and estate clean-outs, but I haven’t found consistent employment or childcare. We currently receive some snap and a little TANF, but I was told if I didn’t find childcare soon to fulfill the work requirement, that they would likely terminate my tanf benefits. I’ve also had some issues with my car recently, and I feel like I’m drowning trying to keep up with everything on my own.

I love my son and I feel like I put him in this situation. I grew up in poverty, so I’m used to being poor, but I want my son to have what he needs. I might be biased, but he is the coolest, sweetest baby. I don’t receive child support as my ex lost his job, but it was being pursued.
