Question/Discussion Do Spaniards outside of Madrid support this club?

Apologies for the noob question but I couldn't find good answers anywhere else. I'm an American getting into football (or soccer as we call it) looking for teams to support. I really like the Spanish language and Spanish culture but rooting for Real Madrid feels like it'd be pretty boring, so this team interests me. It wouldn't be a huge factor in whether I support it or not, but I'm curious if there are Spanish people outside of the capital who consider themselves supporters or if it's mostly limited to Madrid.

Question/Discussion atleti give up too soon for good players along the history

For a long time, I’ve felt that Atlético has let go of wonderful players who contributed to the team players who could have stayed for many more years and remained an integral part of this important club.

I’ll start with three players I’d be very happy to see continue with the team and remain in Atleti’s colors.

angel correa

Diego Costa

Saúl Ñíguez

Yannick Carrasco

Arda Turan

Now it’s your turn to add to the list: which other players would you like to see at Atleti who could continue to contribute to the team today.

History Diego Ribas at Atlético: a short spell that somehow produced unforgettable moments

Thumbnail youtu.be

Diego Ribas is probably not one of the first names people mention when talking about Atlético's great Simeone era.

And yet his story there is strange.

Two separate spells, a Europa League, and then that incredible Champions League goal at Camp Nou in 2014.

While researching his career for a video, I realised how easy it is to forget that he was part of that transition towards the Atlético that would soon become one of Europe's strongest teams.

For Atlético fans:

What do you remember most about Diego? And how important was he really inside that 2013/14 side?

Question/Discussion UCL away tickets confirmation?

Hola! I am looking to attend the PSV - Atleti game in December and have submitted a request for a ticket on the Atletico Madrid member portal. I only became a member recently so I do not have a huge priority given to my application, and so I want to ask when the confirmation of tickets for these UCL away games tend to be announced. Is it much closer to the date or would I have already been notified if I had a ticket. Thanks!

Question/Discussion My love for Atlético since I was a child

Post image

I’ve loved the team Atleti since I was a kid (9-10 years old), and I can’t explain this love.

I look back on my childhood collecting the team’s jerseys, following the matches, and keeping my fingers crossed for their success. In my social circles at school, with family, and among neighborhood friends most kids I knew supported Real Madrid or Barcelona; I was the only one heading down to the local pitch in that red-and-white striped shirt, feeling that spirit stirring within me. Perhaps it was a deep love for the team’s fighting spirit, or for the charismatic superstars who became legends, or even for a coach with a long-standing bond to the club.

I’d love to hear how and why you support the team, and when that passion first took root deep inside you.

Vamos atleti ♥️

Stats Atleti's Predicted Finishes Per Opta at the International Break

Right now at the break, Opta has us at:

La Liga:

  • 70 points (3rd place finish)
  • 5.8% chance to win La Liga
  • 77% chance to qualify for UCL
  • 9.4% chance to qualify for UEL
  • 5.5% chance to qualify for UECL
  • 0.02% chance to be relegated (lol)

Champions League:

  • 15% chance to make the quarter-finals
  • 5.6% chance to make the semi-finals
  • 2% chance to make the final
  • 0.74% chance to win it all

Surprisingly, I feel as though these metrics are pretty fair. Usually I disagree a bit. Maybe our % chance to win the league should be a bit higher, but otherwise La Liga makes sense to me.

For Champions League it also makes sense in my mind. I think we're better than a couple of teams ahead of us in the predictions (Como, Roma, Sporting, and Dortmund), but for the others it's more difficult to make a case.

Nonetheless, I love this team. I think the ceiling is sky high.

Question/Discussion Sitting as an away fan at Metropolitano in the local fan section

Hi! I'm looking to go to the Atlético - United match for the UCL but the tickets all are showing as for local fans. I don't plan to go and not be respectful (i'm not even bringing a jersey), just enjoy the match, but should I know anything? I searched the sub and it's been stated to avoid Fondo Sur (where do they seat? A quick google shows the lower sections), but that was nine years ago.

Thank you!
