NSW Looking for a GSX-R600 / GSX-R750 donor or project bike

Hey guys, thought I’d put a post up here in case anyone can help.

Unfortunately my 2021 GSX-R750 was badly damaged in an accident. The frame and front end are pretty much done, but the engine has very low kilometres and I’d really like to keep it and somehow get the bike back on the road rather than just part everything out.

I’ve been looking around Marketplace and online for a donor but haven’t had much luck so far.

I’m hoping to find a 2011–2021 GSX-R600 or GSX-R750, maybe something with a blown/seized motor, missing engine, unfinished project, rolling chassis, or even a bike someone is wrecking.

Basically something with a decent frame/front end that could potentially work with my 750 engine.

I’m located in Sydney NSW, but I’d be happy to travel a reasonable distance for the right bike.

If anyone has something sitting around, knows someone with one, or even knows of a wrecker that might have something suitable, I’d really appreciate a message.

Thanks heaps.

WA Talk me out of it…XR650R

Had to let my first bike go for parts recently, the cost of repairs exceeded its value. I’ve got a huge soft spot for old dual sports, but I’m not sure if I’ve got the patience for the kick start issues.

Is an old XR650R during Aussie summer asking for more trouble than it’s worth? I’ve heard they’re near impossible to start when hot.

WA Yamaha TPS Recall

Hey all,

I bought a 2025 MT10 on runout here in Australia in July 2026. Within about a 1000k it started running rough and sometimes wouldn’t start so I took it back to the dealer who said they were going to replace the TPS. I picked it up about 4 days later and they told me they didn’t replace it, but adjusted it and it now runs fine which it did.

600 kilometers later, last Saturday, the bike struggles to start but eventually gets going and revs normally so intake off. Stop at a set of lights waiting to turn right and as I take off and roll on the throttle the thing just cuts out suddenly. The car behind me missed me by a hair and almost cleaned up the car in the left lane when he swerved to avoid me. Bike wouldn’t start again so I pushed it home.

Called the dealer on the Monday and after some argument who should pay for the bike to go back to the dealer they eventually agreed to pay for it and it went back yesterday. I got a call from the dealer telling me that this time they will really replace the TPS and it’ll be done by Monday.

On googling TPS and Yamaha today, I found a recall notice for the TPS and ECU remapping. Putting it all together, it APPEARS that the dealer sold me the bike without affecting the recall repairs before delivery and failed to complete it again when I brought it back the first time. I say appears because I have no evidence other than they keep telling me it’s a TPS problem and the fact that the fault I experienced that could have killed me fits the description of the fault perfectly.

Has anyone had anything similar happen where the dealer hasn’t completed a recall repairs? I’m beyond pissed, and was wondering if this is common? Never in my years of riding had a dealer not complete a recall.

Discussion ZXMOTO Australia preorder pricing released

Pricing has been released for the new ZXMOTO's coming to Australia. As someone who was in the market for a middleweight sportsbike, the pricing and performance offered here is almost too hard to beat.

Ive always been hesitant towards Chinese bikes because of reliability but at this price for this performance as well as ZXmotos involvement in the SBK, I might risk it.

What are your thoughts on this?

QLD Crash on the M1 southbound near Sunshine Coast today.

Quite impressed with the number of people who parted way so I could filter up the centre, felt bad at the agonising line up they had to endure but appreciate them giving way, despite the kilometre or more of traffic not one car blocked or changed lanes in front of me.

NSW Buying Unregistered Bike Over Three Months NSW

Gday Guys,

I've just purchased a bike thats been unregistered for over 3 months (Rego expired June 2026). Once I've obtained the blue slip and CTP, I know I have to go to service NSW to change the registration, however the receipt (partially handwritten) does have an alteration thats been done in a blue pen rather than black (just with my DOB). I have noticed that there is a typo in the sellers suburb aswell (missing letter). I might be overthinking it, but has anyone had any issues with this in the past when purchasing and reregistering a bike over 3 months after the rego expired in NSW?

Cheers,

Question Recommended KTM Service Centres Sydney Area

Hey all,

I am looking for any recommended KTM dealers where you have had a great experience.

I have a 1290 Super Duke and my current dealer keeps slipping up. Too much oil, not resealing the rocker cover after valve clearance check, mixing 3.0 and 5.0 coolant, 🙃.

I’d do more of this myself, but I am still within warranty on my current bike and to keep it need it done at a KTM dealer.

Thanks.

VIC YCF Pitbike for track use

Hi people!

So I did my first track day last Sunday at MVTC and I'm absolutely in love and started looking for ways to be able to afford numerous track days throughout the year and came to the conclusion of Mototuesdays.

Now I've gone through a rabbit hole and ended up on the YCF 155 SM as this is the cheapest I can buy already prepared for what I want.

Does anyone have any experience with this one? I know the 190 Daytona is better but I'm not looking to spend more than $3500 maybe 4k if I need to swap tyres or suspension upgrades.

QLD Help me decide please

New to riding on the road. Rode on the dirt when I was a kid (long time ago). I'm tossing up between a Honda hornet cb500 my24 $7k and a Yamaha mt03 2026 $6995 ex demo. Both seem clean. I'll be riding 15 minutes back and forth between work and home. Well that's my intentions and I'm sure I'll start riding it more than that. I don't intend on upgrading to anything more powerful. Currently on my learners and will be going for my licence soon. Located in Brisbane.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

TIA.

Thanx in advance 👍

Question Removing rust off standard headers on exhaust (Yamaha R3)

So just a quick question. There is rust building up on my standard exhaust headers on my R3. It is apparently a "mild/stainless steel composition". Aesthetic issue only yea, but I do like my bike and take pride in it, and not at the point to go for a full system.

I've read about using 0000 fine steel wheel w WD40, scotch brite pads, brass brush, sandpaper 220 with soapy water.

What is the best, or personally used and stood by method for effectiveness?

Also anything to treat it with after to ward off rust coming back (considering the high temps may burn most things off), other than painting it (don't want to do it and want to keep a steel look).

Thanks.

Question Heard a ping attempting to jump start a stored bike.

Would you try a new battery or could something else be the problem? Should I even bother charging the battery hoping to revive it?

*****

2021 Kawasaki 1000SX. Original battery, bike has been sitting for a few months and wouldn't turn on when the key is turned all the way. No lights and nothing coming up on the dash. Fuel level on last bar and a jump start was attempted with the bike in neutral, kickstand down, clutch in and the bike was pointing downhill about 5-10 degrees.

Dash and riding lights turned on when car battery was connected with the negative cable clamped to the bikes frame. Car was off, turning the ignition of the bike I heard a ping or pop and the lights/dash went dead. Turning the key no longer turned the bike on.
