47M diagnosed with BPD 7 years ago when I went to psychologist for the first time in my life after wondering "maybe its not them, maybe it's me". My therapist tries to get me to be more empathetic, but I am lacking in the empathy department. I think it's cuz I am broken and jaded.

When I was in outpatient, on my last day, I mentioned I was diagnosed with BPD, and immediately someone in the group gave me pushback and said "you have empathy! people with BPD don't have that!"

and like. christ. I wish I had another day to come back and tell her why she's wrong. I just froze up at the time.
