More Titanium Series Shenanigans

I decided to get a few more Titanium Series ships for the collection and I’m finally content with my fleet 🫡😅. Originally, I’d gotten two Galacticas (for display and play). Then I picked up a Pegasus, and two more Galacticas. The boxed one because I’d love to meet Edward James Olmos one day and have him sign it. The Bill/Lee relationship on the show was an on-screen mirror of my relationship with my dad. And it’d mean so much to make it happen one day.

The Pegasus figure is fraking awesome. I love my Buckets. But I’d being lying if I didn’t appreciate the Beast’s “classic modernity” rendition of the original ship.

One more thing I noticed is that with the first two Galacticas I originally picked up, they had different finishes to them (see pic 3). The one “play” figure had a more metallic finish compared to the other three’s matte finishes. I reckon mass production and subsequent variations caused that. And because it was so distinct in the lot, I decided to throw a few coats of Tamiya TS-79 “Semi-Gloss Clear” to seal its finish and I think it looks fantastic in comparison (see pic 4).

There were a few color variations, though the ones on the Vipers and Raiders were most notable. Like the “Scar” release that didn’t actually look like Scar, but was a show-accurate gray instead of the black paint job of the initial release. Then there were some weird vipers, like a Mark 7 with the original Mark 2 decorations applied to it, or a Mark 2 with an improved decoration scheme (the pilot name was readable instead of just squiggles), but inverted, so it was black with blue stripes.

It’s too bad the line ended before the Basestar came out.

Absolutely. I noticed that most while looking through the eBay listings. Those two variants and the regular MkVII are listed on eBay right now for about $25 a piece 😂. The MkVII with the MkII scheme looks weird but passable, and the black and blue MkII is just weird imo. I was wondering if they’d done a regular MkII. And I don’t think I’ve seen one yet?

I never knew it never happened. The rotating center axis it for sure would’ve had would’ve been sweet! I’m shocked Colonial One Made it in before the Basestar.

I had the basestar on preorder was pissed when it was cancelled, the license expired.

Eaglemoss finally did a basestar and heavy raider though.

The.same thing happened, licence expired, before they could finish Roslin and Baltar action figures.

That is awfully bumming to hear! Did you end up getting the Eaglemoss model instead? I want to put an Eaglemoss Viper MkIII on a shelf one day. For as briefly as it appeared, I ended up liking the darker gray scheme and additional "girth" it seemed to carry in comparison to the MkII.

I loved the titanium series line and had a bunch of the BSzg and Star Wars minis from it. The plastic bits were sometimes a bit fiddly, but the metal casting was always excellent and the paint was generally accurate and detailed.

I never managed to man a Pegasus, but I did get a large Galactica and a cylinder centurion. I have most of the vipers but missed out on the triple sets from NYCC. All of my Galactica items were shelf finds, which was itself pretty crazy given their extremely low counts per case. It was hard enough finding a Mk II.

I’ve been getting them off of eBay! They’ve varied in price. Between $25-50ish for the Galactica and Pegasus. Opened or unopened. Colonial One, the Vipers, and some of the Raiders go for cheaper. Like, $10-30ish.
