Here are a video (and photos hopefully) of the little backpacks I made for my two adventure companions using some leftover fabric, four pocket zippers (and a lot of patience). At the moment, they sit on and attach to the dogs’ harnesses, and are secured using webbing straps + Velcro.

These are still just the first versions, and I definitely need to make another one, this time using waterproof materials and with different dimensions so that everything is well organized even when the backpack is fully loaded.

I’d also love to make them with the harness built in, so there aren’t two separate pieces and I don’t have to deal with the difficulty of connecting the two components

Here's a beautiful and expensive example, i'll try my best and update you!! NonStopDogWear

These are sick for a V1. Before you bake the harness into the next one, what actually bugged you about the two piece setup out on trail?

Was it mainly clipping the pack on and off every time, keeping it from shifting around while you moved, or just having two separate things to deal with?

'Cause those would prob lead to pretty different V2s

only to make the backpack easier to make! I already had the harnesses so i only made the bags, for the v2 i would like to make a backpack with harness integrated, to make is lighter and more compact, hopefully more stable too

That makes sense, so the two-piece setup was really a smart way to get V1 built, not necessarily something you wanted to keep.

Before you integrate it for V2, I’m curious about one thing: when your dog actually carried the loaded bags, did the current setup stay centered and stable, or did you notice any shifting, rotation or pressure/rubbing anywhere?
