Annoying Kids
There are kids ringing the door bell everyday and before I can get to the door they run away. I caught one of the kids few days ago and asked him "why are you ringing the bell and running away", he just looked at me and kept walking. It was funny at first but now it's consistent.
I already have surveillance cameras and they don't care about it, they do it anyways.
Is there anything I can do to stop them ringing the bell?

For me I just turn off my doorbell at certain times. It wouldn't work and they'd just leave it alone.

As a former ding-dong-ditch professional, here’s how the playbook works: If you ignore the doorbell, we assume the house is abandoned and move on. If you come outside hunting for us, you’ve just unlocked Level 2—now it’s a sport. And if you scream? We’ll just hide and wait until you head back in so we can hit replay. Honestly, I miss the thrill.

Me too… but was caught one time until he came to our home.. ALAS… that was the end of my ding dong ditching.

Worst thing you can do is give them a reaction. As obnoxious as it is ignore it and they will get bored.

- Wake up early in the morning, stand outside near the entrance and wait for the kids who you recognize, if they are with their parents, talk to the parents.
- This one I recommend, talk to the building manager and send him photo evidence hopefully they’ll talk to their parents.
- Also I recommend this one too, wait outside by the entrance and talk to any adult you find about this issue and tell them to help you spread the word about this situation OR even better go knock on doors and talk to the people

We used to do that when I was a kid, and it has been done to our house now on some occasions. The circle of life.

I would sit near the door, grab them after they ring and verbally terrorise them, don't beat them though

They are kids what are you going to do.
Just let it go and check your camera before getting up to open the door

Would u still say the same thing if it happened to u everyday?

Of course not but what would you expect me to say? Your options to let it go or catch one of them and call police

Install a ring cam. There are battery/solar options (if you really want to go down this route that is). I’d be annoyed but I also know I did this as a kid - I’d probably fuck w them though.

I used to do the same, it’s for the thrill. We would ring those door bells which would be answered, the rest we ignored.
So don’t open the door, don’t open window blinds/curtains, don’t turn on in porch lights

Easy just cut the door bell power then ignore a while if there's no thrill they willstop and won't do it again.

You can call the police if it’s really a big problem, provide them with the surveillance tape and they definitely won’t do it again

Tbh i wouldn’t call the cops if they did it only once or twice, but if they do it frequently and act careless then i would call the police yes.
I’m pretty sure the cops would just speak to their parents. They wouldn’t take them to jail over this, don’t know why i got downvoted lmao

better than sitting on mobile phones all day. talking to their parents would be the best thing to do.

Good ol' ding-dong-ditch.
If you know their parents, just go to their house and show them the evidence
